What great little find! It was our first time finding this little gem and we were very happy about it! We went while in the area for a local Yelp event. There was maybe about three other people within the restaurant - so there wasn't a wait. The staff was very inviting and friendly. They gave many suggestions of what to try. The location is small, but clean. You felt like you are within an authentic atmosphere. Great music selection, decorations, and people. The food came out hot and fresh. The host actually looked it over to ensure it was correct, she didn't feel they properly gave enough food and actually went back to the kitchen to improve the dish. Great service and food! We will love to come back when we are on this side of town.

This spot gave me a friendly family atmosphere. It wasn't crowded and the waiter was very nice and helpful. The food came out fresh and hot. The sandwich pictured below was great and even so the day after. The tacos were good. They were not as good as some I've had in the past but these were decent. Would I go back, probably to try something else. You should give it a try bc we received a couple references to stop by! I had a margarita beverage, it was also ok.

I have been to Chilango multiple times. I will say that they make great tacos. They are also reasonable priced, and loaded with meat. They are not street taco size like BarTaco, simply made, but full of flavor. The staff is friendly here is well, and enjoy serving all that come in. This is my favorite taco place to go to when I am in the mood for Tacos. $474

A little off the beaten path but worth a detour. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant with a great atmosphe. They have Mexican music playing in the background and the real telltale sign of the quality and authenticity of is there were mostly Mexicans eating there. Be nervous if no locals are frequenting the establishment. Service was fast. They brought out ours drinks and food shortly after ordering. Note: you need to seat yoursel when you arrive. I had the taco plate with beef tounge. It did not disappoint. I would absolutely recommend.

This is a great little place for a good Mexican lunch or dinner! It's in an older, unassuming shopping center, but the interior is modern and the vibe is energetic. The menu has a lot of options, and we'd never heard of many of them. Our very-friendly server was helpful, though, and answered all of our questions. My friend loved his Torta Cubana (including the jalapeños), and thought the fries were okay. I ordered the grilled chicken tacos with a side of rice. The rice was great! It was flavored with bits of vegetables, and it wasn't too salty. The tacos were a bit plain, but they were served with onions, cilantro and some sauces (which were on the side) and that helped amp up the flavor. Masks are required, tables are spaced and there is hand sanitizer at the door. According to previous reviews, they used to have a sauce bar. Now, they ask you what you want on your tacos, and they bring it to you. Finally, the music was fantastic! It had a Mexican/big band sound, and we loved it!

Quesabirria that is bangin'!

While visiting Raleigh we had to eat before going to a show. After searching Yelp for Mexican joints I chose Chilango's. If you've never been here before you should seriously consider trying it out for real Mexical food. The restaurant is located in a shopping center that appeared to only have businesses run by people of Hispanic ethnicity. Good sign for legit Mexican. We entered the restaurant and were immediately greeted by a friendy server. Looking at the menu it was nice to see that Tortas, Sopes, and Papusas were some of the choices instead of acp and speedy gonzales. Our order of Quesabirrias Con Consome along with Lengua and Asada Tacos arrived quickly. Originally, a Buche taco was ordered as well but the server returned to tell us it was unavailable. The regular style Tacos were good. Topped with cilantro and onion they were as expected. The Quesabirria- THE BEST I'VE HAD! Delicious! That says it all. The Sauces offered at the condiment bar ranged from smokey to tart, mild to some spice. The pickled veggies were a welcome change from the usual sliced radishes My only issue with this place is the drink/Tequila list not being updated and showing things not offered anymore. That's a pet peeve of mine. Aside from that, Chilango's was a great choice and lip smackin'. I will visit this place again.

Tacos after the toppings bar

Mexican street food never lets me down. I was starving for lunch after a failed Grubhub Order at another restaurant, and this place was the closest taqueria on Yelp. So of course I'm giving it a try. I ordered 3 tacos. One of each of barbacoa, al pastor and campechanos. They were all delicious, my favorite probably being the al pastor (with pineapple and onion). They have a salsa/toppings bar with 3 kinds of salsa (2 green, 1 red) and cilantro, onion, pickled onion, jalapeños and carrots, etc. Each taco was $2.29 and all the other menu items were very cheap as well. You can easily eat a big meal here for under $10. Everything was excellent, including the service!

Growing up on the Texas boarder, I have never seen a carne asada burrito with bits hotdog in it...with a side of Doritos.

It never came. After waiting, we had to flag down a server walking by, who eventually brought one--only for it to be broken. It then took another 10 minutes before we finally got a functional highchair. Throughout the visit, the staff seemed far more interested in talking amongst themselves than actually paying attention to guests. The overall atmosphere felt disorganized, inattentive, and unprofessional. The worst part came after we left. I realized almost immediately that I had left my wallet behind and called right away. Instead of any sense of urgency or willingness to help, the host who answered was incredibly rude and dismissive. Before I could fully explain the situation, she cut me off and told me to "call back tomorrow." When I tried to quickly describe the wallet--color, contents, anything that might help--she hung up on me mid-sentence. Considering I called almost immediately after leaving and was brushed off so quickly, it raises serious concerns about whether any real effort was made to locate it. I would hope any establishment would take something like that seriously. Between the lack of attention, the disorganization, and the way a simple, time-sensitive situation was handled, this place clearly has serious issues with customer service. I won't be back.

When you arrive, there is plenty of parking around the building, and entrances in the front and on the right side. Once inside, you'll walk up to counter and place your order. Your then given a order number and it's open seating. Your number will be called out in Spanish when your food is ready and you'll pick it up at the counter. I ordered an al pastor taco which unfortunately was not good. It came out extremely cold and needed a lot of salsa for it to have any flavor. I also ordered a steak burrito which was much better and was served with melted cheese on the top. There were fatty pieces throughout the burrito but this was far better than the taco. Lastly, I ordered a horchata but it tasted like grainy and wasn't great. If I'm in the area again I may give this a try but I'd definitely stick with a burrito so your food is hot.

I saw this as an option today and liked how the quesadillas looked online. I'm pretty picky when it comes to quesadillas. I like the tortilla to be semi-crispy and everything to hold up inside with the cheese. Nothing fancy, just mixed cheese/grilled onions/chicken/butter/green peppers. The good on these quesadillas is that the flavoring of the chicken was spot on and the pico was fresh. The downside was everything else. Tortilla was soggy and everything in the quesadillas did not stay intact. The chicken was also shredded, which I didn't like. Peppers and onions were super limp. I'm giving a 3 because I wasn't at the actual restaurant and sometimes food consistency is off from in-house compared with to-go. I won't be ordering this as a to-go option again, though. Your experience may differ.
