Authentic Mexican Food Venue: I say a small but it can accommodate any occasion type of place. It has full bar, has fun claw machines for kids. Lively and decorated with awesome paintings. Food: one of the best street tacos I've had in NC. My so far favorite is Al pastor, brisket. They really do something special here with the meat! Tried tongue, stomach, smoked pork, carnitas, carne asada. It's a shame I forgot to take picture because I was so excited. They also have salsa bar with various hot sauce. Service: great service and staffs here. Great recommendations. Came back for another tacos and will be back again. read more

Chilango's is alright.. it hits all the notes for what you can expect with tacos and Mexican food. Asada, al pastor or carnitas.. you name it, they got it! I did appreciate the carnitas tacos, but their salsas fell short. Unfortunately, they did not bring everything together as other places. Service was good. Overall an ok experience. read more

Great food and great service for lunch today with my wife. I had the El Pastor soft corn taco plate: 2 x El pastor tacos with Mexican rice and refried beans. My wife had the same but with a chorizo taco and an El Pastor taco. She loved both as well. We will come back for more soon! read more

What great little find! It was our first time finding this little gem and we were very happy about it! We went while in the area for a local Yelp event. There was maybe about three other people within the restaurant - so there wasn't a wait. The staff was very inviting and friendly. They gave many suggestions of what to try. The location is small, but clean. You felt like you are within an authentic atmosphere. Great music selection, decorations, and people. The food came out hot and fresh. The host actually looked it over to ensure it was correct, she didn't feel they properly gave enough food and actually went back to the kitchen to improve the dish. Great service and food! We will love to come back when we are on this side of town. read more

The food took a long time to come out and the tortillas were cold. The tacos were okay. My cousin told me it's a hit or miss. The waitresses were nice and the decor is nice. read more

Was in town visiting our son and being from Phoenix we were looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant. This was recommended by Skynet (AKA ChatGPT) as authentic Mexican food. Being from Phoenix, I was pretty skeptical that anyplace out East has authentic Mexican food, but this place far exceeded my expectations. Although it wasn't the Sonoran Mexican I'm more accustomed to, it was incredibly good! The food was more fromDF, and it was served differently, but it was truly remarkable. Can highly recommend and we will be returning next time we're in town. read more

Food was authentic. Service was friendly but it's a busy place so a little slow. Ambience is nicely decorated and clean.

I have been to Chilango multiple times. I will say that they make great tacos. They are also reasonable priced, and loaded with meat. They are not street taco size like BarTaco, simply made, but full of flavor. The staff is friendly here is well, and enjoy serving all that come in. This is my favorite taco place to go to when I am in the mood for Tacos. $474 read more

This spot gave me a friendly family atmosphere. It wasn't crowded and the waiter was very nice and helpful. The food came out fresh and hot. The sandwich pictured below was great and even so the day after. The tacos were good. They were not as good as some I've had in the past but these were decent. Would I go back, probably to try something else. You should give it a try bc we received a couple references to stop by! I had a margarita beverage, it was also ok. read more

A little off the beaten path but worth a detour. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant with a great atmosphe. They have Mexican music playing in the background and the real telltale sign of the quality and authenticity of is there were mostly Mexicans eating there. Be nervous if no locals are frequenting the establishment. Service was fast. They brought out ours drinks and food shortly after ordering. Note: you need to seat yoursel when you arrive. I had the taco plate with beef tounge. It did not disappoint. I would absolutely recommend. read more

This is a great little place for a good Mexican lunch or dinner! It's in an older, unassuming shopping center, but the interior is modern and the vibe is energetic. The menu has a lot of options, and we'd never heard of many of them. Our very-friendly server was helpful, though, and answered all of our questions. My friend loved his Torta Cubana (including the jalapeños), and thought the fries were okay. I ordered the grilled chicken tacos with a side of rice. The rice was great! It was flavored with bits of vegetables, and it wasn't too salty. The tacos were a bit plain, but they were served with onions, cilantro and some sauces (which were on the side) and that helped amp up the flavor. Masks are required, tables are spaced and there is hand sanitizer at the door. According to previous reviews, they used to have a sauce bar. Now, they ask you what you want on your tacos, and they bring it to you. Finally, the music was fantastic! It had a Mexican/big band sound, and we loved it! read more

The enmoladas - fried tortillas stuffed with chicken and covered with mole - are absolutely delicious! Our server was excellent. Service was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance is your usual Mexican restaurant: the music is fun, the TVs are showing soccer games. LOTS of Hispanics, which I appreciate. When we walked in, we were the only gringos there. I'll definitely be back. read more

Disappointing. The food wasn't very good. The tacos were dry sadly. Ordering was chaotic.

Mexican street food never lets me down. I was starving for lunch after a failed Grubhub Order at another restaurant, and this place was the closest taqueria on Yelp. So of course I'm giving it a try. I ordered 3 tacos. One of each of barbacoa, al pastor and campechanos. They were all delicious, my favorite probably being the al pastor (with pineapple and onion). They have a salsa/toppings bar with 3 kinds of salsa (2 green, 1 red) and cilantro, onion, pickled onion, jalapeños and carrots, etc. Each taco was $2.29 and all the other menu items were very cheap as well. You can easily eat a big meal here for under $10. Everything was excellent, including the service! read more

While visiting Raleigh we had to eat before going to a show. After searching Yelp for Mexican joints I chose Chilango's. If you've never been here before you should seriously consider trying it out for real Mexical food. The restaurant is located in a shopping center that appeared to only have businesses run by people of Hispanic ethnicity. Good sign for legit Mexican. We entered the restaurant and were immediately greeted by a friendy server. Looking at the menu it was nice to see that Tortas, Sopes, and Papusas were some of the choices instead of acp and speedy gonzales. Our order of Quesabirrias Con Consome along with Lengua and Asada Tacos arrived quickly. Originally, a Buche taco was ordered as well but the server returned to tell us it was unavailable. The regular style Tacos were good. Topped with cilantro and onion they were as expected. The Quesabirria- THE BEST I'VE HAD! Delicious! That says it all. The Sauces offered at the condiment bar ranged from smokey to tart, mild to some spice. The pickled veggies were a welcome change from the usual sliced radishes My only issue with this place is the drink/Tequila list not being updated and showing things not offered anymore. That's a pet peeve of mine. Aside from that, Chilango's was a great choice and lip smackin'. I will visit this place again. read more

Fast, flavorful, piping hot and fresh. I cannot wait to come back. We had the quesobirria tacos (4 for $12- amazing deal), a cheese pupusa and a pork and bean pupusa, and then an asada and pastor taco. Everything was amazing. Seriously the quesobirria tacos were the best I've ever had. Also the chicharrones instead of chips and salsa was an awesome way to start the meal. Will definitely be back soon! read more

Happened upon this restaurant coming from out of town. As a Mexican American, I was so excited to get my favorite "chicharrones de harina" served at the table instead of chips & salsa. We ordered tacos and they did not disappoint. They were very filling and not stingy with the meat. The salsa bar was open & they were all flavorful. Many families on this particular Sunday. Staff was friendly & accommodating to my non-Spanish speaking husband. Highly recommend! read more

I was extremely disappointed. The food was ok, the service was ok. The place needs deep cleaning. I could not enjoy the food because of the smell of the place. I wasn't able to eat my meal do to the dirtiness. I took a bite of my taco and tasted decent, but the smell forced me to leave. read more

I had a random craving to eat a torta. I was about to ignore my craving and have a burger. I didn't think I'd find a decent Mexican restaurant out here in NC. Being from Southern California I'm spoiled when it comes to Mexican food. I found Chilango tacks & grill by accident and thought I'd give it a shot. I honestly only bothered coming in because of the name figured with a name like that they were bound to have decent food specially a torta. I wasn't disappointed, I asked for the torta Cubana and I got what I asked for, I got a massive and delicious torta. It more than satisfied my craving, I just wish my stomach was big enough to have finished this delicious torta in one sitting. read more

I give them five stars because they are what the sign says..."Mexican Street Food"! The menu items are what I expected, and the taste exceeded my expectation. I lived quite a few years in El Paso, TX and in Sierra Vista, AZ; both southwestern cities near the border. I've also sent a little time in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, Mexico just south of Yuma, AZ and food at Chilango's is on par with the best street food at any of those locations. The preparations are authentic, and the spices are on point. If you want Mexican food, not tex-mex or mexican-american, but Mexican food, GO TO CHILANGO'S. Oh yeah, as an added benefit, they have a bar!!!! read more

This being Taco Tuesday, I decided to try this restaurant's tacos. They were delicious, especially the barbequed beef in red sauce. The side bar with different sauces, pickled onion, and onion pepper relish added flavor. On the platter with my three tacos were sliced cucumbers, radishes, and lemons. The menu is extensive. I was the only non-latino among 20+ diners, so Latinos must approve of the food. The waiter was very attentive. I didn't care for the puffed chips and would have preferred chips and salsa. Reasonably priced at $8.50 for my lunch. I will return. read more
