The staff is always so welcoming, kind, and helpful and they should be busier for the quality of the food! I've tried the chicken taquito, baja shrimp taco, grilled shrimp taco, birria taco, steak taco, and surf and turf (shrimp and steak) taco. The prices are fair and the tacos are very filling. This place was fantastic, we had such a great experience! The food was delicious, especially the birria tacos, which had a nice, savory flavor. The consomé could've used just a touch more salt, but it was still good. The mole was full of flavor, and my husband loved it since he prefers his mole on the sweeter side. The plátano frito was amazing, definitely a must-try if you can get it as a side. We were lucky it came with the mole plate! I'm usually pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food since my mom is an incredible cook, and I tend to compare everything to her recipes but I have to say, this place definitely earned my approval! The aguas frescas were refreshing and perfectly balanced, not too sweet. Service was quick and friendly, and the staff made us feel welcome. The restaurant was clean, had a nice atmosphere, and the music added a great touch. My son had wings that were so fresh and nicely dressed with a vinegary buffalo sauce. The decor is so cool and the booths comfortable. We ordered something from the menu that was nothing like we were served. don't remember the name of it but looked like a large flat tortilla maybe fried with assorted green veggies and cheese(not melted). tasted like raw flour and no flavor veggies. we sent it back and ordered tacos instead which were nothing like much better. I ordered the steak and chorizo gorditas, and my husband had the beef tacos -- everything was delicious and full of authentic taste. Our waitress, Dulce, was so sweet and attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us often. You can tell she truly cares about her customers. As I write this, they've been in business for only a month. A friend told me about them weeks ago and they weren't registered on Google Maps at the time, so I literally just got here. Glad I made it. Not a fan of chains when it comes to Mexican, but these guys have it figured out. And by "chain," they aren't really a "Taco Bell" type franchise, so that helps a lot too. So far, I am just trying out the tacos. I mean, it's in their name... Pollo, lengua and brisket. Can't say brisket is in my idea of traditional Mexican, yet I don't care. It's delicious. The tongue was better than I expected (Michael Scott would have a ball with that one) and the chicken was chicken. The chips and salsa were average fare. I loved the red and green hot sauces. Sizeable enough for a few couples and families. Great prices - my tacos were just over $10, and they filled me up. The service was kind and good-natured, which always works for me, even if the food is blah. The food was not blah. Yeah man, this is my new spot. Drop in for some good Mexican food. For our meals it was the combo tacos (you get two tacos with rice and beans) with a margarita (no salt) for me and the Texas ACP for my mom. The food and drinks were both good. Although we recently got two "real" (i.e., sit-down) restaurants here in Fuquay, fast food generally rules. So I was intrigued when I read the great reviews of Tacos Oaxaca. It's in a strip mall that's kind of beat (they *really* need to repave that parking lot), so I was skeptical. But I finally got around to stopping by yesterday after phoning in a take-out order. I stopped in to pick up my order. It's a relatively small place, but with an appealing, authentic ambience. The gentleman at the counter (whose name I neglected to ask) had my order - one carne asada burrito and one carnitas burrito, hold the sour cream - ready and waiting. After I got home, I took my first bite and said, "Oh my *God*!!" Seriously, I was so loud I alarmed the dog. It was *so* good. Also, they were big enough that I could get only halfway through one (although I did my best to eat it all). This photo does not do the food justice. I have a very strong feeling I will have to return to Tacos Oaxaca to eat there (and *maaaaybe* try one of their margaritas). My new go-to spot. read more

Wanted some tacos but didn't want to drive to Raleigh. Saw good reviews and went in to try Tacos Oaxaca. Full menu was available online. Called in foe a carry out order and they were very pleasant on the phone. I was greeted when I walked in the door and there was a nice amount of people dining in. The place was clean, open and we could see the kitchen. They have a full bar from what we could tell. We ordered the birra, brisket, carna asada, and shrimp tacos. All the meats were cooked perfectlying. The tacos were served with salsa Verde and it gave the tacos great flavor. I would have like a crema for the shrimp taco and will order next time. The ambiance was also nice, however there was room for improvement... - If you are ordering takeout, they will add a 49¢ surcharge for every person picking up the takeout, so go alone and do not walk in with your family. This was a first for me, so I walked in holding my 4 year old's hand and carrying my 10 month old to find a $1.50 surcharge added to my bill. - The execution of tacos and burritos lack flavor and are mostly bland in comparison to other places we have been to. The components are good quality but it lacks the chefs touch you would typically find at a traditional Mexican food restaurant. - After ordering the amount of food that would usually fill us up, it left us still hungry after ordering what we thought would be enough to have leftovers. Went here about 1 hour before they closed & got our food to go and I must say the customer service was great, so we had high hopes. Ordered 1 single birria taco, 3 chicken taco combo, an acp with veggies, and a side of pico. The 3 chicken tacos had onion & we said no onion, so my boyfriend couldn't even eat & you can't pick them off because the onions are small. The apc barely had any chicken or veggies & it was $15- not worth it. Tbh the birria taco was the best thing out of what we got. Let's face it, many of us are always bemoaning the fact that we wish we had more "good" restaurants in Fuquay-Varina (like there's not enough of them already). But what happens when you discover a seemingly hidden place that shocks you with their superb food offerings - and they've been here for awhile? This is exactly what happened to us. We often visit that shopping center on Main street where Food Lion and Planet Fitness are located, and yes, we've occasionally caught a glimpse of Tacos Oaxaca while riding by - thinking nothing, assuming that it was just another of the many Mexican hole in the wall eateries. But the other day we were driving past and decided to just stop and "finally" try them out. Initially (and wrongfully so) assuming that this was just going to be another run of the mill Mexican restaurant, we were absolutely surprised at how good the food is there. No, this is not your typical taco and burrito place - rather, it takes familiar Mexican food items that we've all become familiar with to a whole new level. We had the shredded beef street tacos (as they are called) with the standard fare of refried beans and rice. The street tacos we were served are smaller than your typical tacos, in what looks like a soft flour (red in color) taco shell. The shredded beef was so tender (add superbly seasoned also) and well prepared, that they just melted in your mouth - literally the best tacos that I've had in a long while. My wife had another dish and she absolutely loved it. We just kept muttering, "How did we not discover this place earlier?" and that hits home the fact that all too many folks will unintentially ignore this place during a drive-by, because it doesn't reach out and initially grab your attention. Another interesting tidbit is that unlike most Mexican restaurants that have like a 100 plus items on their menus, Tacos Oaxaca has a very small menu, making it easier to order. The thing about their food is their take on traditional Mexican dishes - the seasoning and what they put in their dishes is a cut above the competition. Now this is a small place and yes they have tables so you can eat there, and the place is tastefully decorated, but they also have a very large take-out service. Now we realize that food tastes are subjective. One person's absolute delight may be offset by another's disappointment - that's just the way it is in life. All we can do is to give this place our highest recommendation and if you're looking for good (a cut above) Mexican food, without visiting a high-end, super expensive eatery - by all means, get your butts over to Tacos Oaxaca. With both indoor & outdoor seating, this quaint restaurant will have you coming back. First, I have to acknowledge the front of the house staff. She was only 1, but she zipped around to each customer in a fashion that makes you smile. Theybwerent even that busy (in my opinion) but she was moving!! Awsome, awsome, awsome!! The decor inside is very inviting, just as inviting as the menu. The Barbacoa street tacos did not disappoint. Street taco sized tortilla that held as I shoved it in my face. The taco has plenty of meat, topped with onion and cilantro. I like to think of this place as the spot you go to when you are craving a particular item. As a Mexican this is not how coctel is made en el rancho nor in the city in Mexico. The cheese dip was watery/tasteless & mediocre. The tamale is good but over priced $5 for 1 tamale (ridiculous), typically these go for $1.50-$3 is reasonable these days. The steak platter was also mediocre, as if the passion/energy is lacking, and customers can feel /tell. It's just an order, a buck to keep the machine going. It lacks luster overall...my 2nd x trying it in hopes they improved, or simply to give it another chance to see if my taste buds would have an orgasmic experience. Mission failed.
