Overall: A fun Mexican spot that I can see becoming a regular spot for me. Food: The burrito was packed and very filling. Tasted great and the salsa bar allowed me to try it with a variety of flavors. Service: The service here is pretty fast. Ambiance: This is a casual sit-down place. Decent amount of seating inside, but the chairs aren't the most comfortable. In a pretty busy area next to the Trader Joe, so parking might be a hassle.

This place is a cool and fun concept for a taco place. Reminds me of when I lived in El Paso. I got the Birria Taco meal. It was delicious. The consommé was flavorful and was a treat in itself. The flavors shine here along with the salsa bar. You know a taco place is legit when you see that.

Back again and I'm still so confused. I tried it again after not going in a while earlier this week I got two grilled fish tacos with chips + queso. The fish was really good however, all the toppings were so annoyingly large, making it hard to eat. The taco practically fell apart. This taco would be better if they put a little bit more thought into maybe slicing things thinner or just being intentional about how a person will eat it. However, I went tonight for a shrimp ACP, the shrimp was gummy and tasted like it was boiled and just thrown on top with no seasoning. The whole bowl was pretty bland. I'm very happy. I got an extra side of chips and queso. Honestly, the thing that keeps me coming back is the chips because they have this special seasoning on top. That is so delicious. I've never had anywhere, but they're so skimpy with the seasoning now. Last week, I probably had two chips that had seasoning and this order. I have absolutely none. At this point, I have no reason to go back anymore so I probably won't be visiting. It's such a shame this place has so much potential but maybe they just need better management. I think this is the type of place you only really go for drinks and queso.

I loved my experience at Chico Taco! The inside felt like an upscale taqueria and the salsa bar was expansive -- all salsas were delicious. I ordered the ACP and it was great. Portion size to price ratio was more than ideal. I can't wait to come back and try their birria tacos!

Living in Oakland I learned what a good taco should taste like. This was not that-at all! The skimpiest looking tacos ever. The Baja fish taco was laughable. One thin sliver of dry fish overwhelmed by veggies. Two for $11. Robbery. The tripa taco was worse. Tiny portion and greasy. Oy. It's the same service you get at McDonald's (albeit it friendlier) yet the register suggests an 18% tip. What?!. The store has fun decor but really that's all. This is my second visit. No need to return

Great service, authentic Mexican flavor, salsa bar, and the drink cocktails! Close to downtown Cary.

First time here at Chido Taco. I may say, I wish I knew about this Mexican joint. The service is excellent, seems the whole familia is running the place and it was amazing. It's a food truck authentic taco stand in a sit-in restaurant. We ordered the "Quesabirrias tacos with black beans and Mexican rice. I inhaled the whole plate. Very home cooked meal like. Mama is super behind the counter and amigo is knocking things out at the hot burner. I felt like I was in Tijuana, Mexico for a minute. The place is authentic and it's no "Taco Bell now". Thank you crew. We will come back for other items in the menu!!!

Delicious! I have mostly UberEats it for this place and have been satisfied for the most part. The only complaint would be the tortillas are not homemade, yet all things considering good being store bought. The yummy salsa bar (4 different ones) with all the fixings for tacos made freely available. Even radishes and cucumbers for the extras made a delightful experience. The aguas frescas are homemade not from concentrate nor from powder (which again is important for the cultural experience)! The chips and guacamole were amazingly fresh to my taste buds! Overall this Mexican gal is satisfied and now can venture into Trader Joes next door with a happy belly

Really great margaritas, tacos, and salsa! We drove here from Durham for their one dollar margarita deal on national margarita day, it was absolutely worth it! The seating inside was great, the food came out really fast, and everything was delicious. We would definitely go back again for a similar event.

I came here for lunch on Friday and no one was inside so I ordered right away. I got the ACP chicken bowl. My food was ready in less than one minute . Now I've been to the Raleigh one several times before and I will say they both are different. The food presentation itself was lacking. They over did it with the queso in the bowl. They also use disposable bowls instead of a washable dish. Also it lacked some flavor that I'm use to when going to the Raleigh one. It's pretty inside and cashier was friendly but they missed the mark with a few things here. I'll stick to the Raleigh location.

BEWARE: READ MY REVIEW ! Quesabirria (1) Quesabirria Combo (3)

The vibe here is pretty OK. They have a special on Mondays where you get the case of burritos for $1.99 each, which is great. There's an open bar with the toppings and vegetables that you would typically put on your birria. The cashier's name is Bertha and she's really friendly and makes things right if there's ever any issues with your order. I do recommend that you at least give this place a try. They also do you have a bar!

Broken chips, did all the decent ones (wasn't many)

I went with my beautiful gf after shopping at Trader Joe's. We wanted a quick snack, so we got chips and salsa, and a taco. Now, I understand the tacos are small but this was barely a taco honestly. I got asada and it was barely any protein. Additionally, we got chips and salsa and all the chips were broken so we were eating crumbs. We've been to the Raleigh one and it was much better. I had to convince my gf they were the same spot. See ya never Cary location!

I always get the same thing here, and somehow it tastes different every time. I'm not sure if the chefs change sometimes. But it's all good! Just the ratios of cheese and meat and such to everything else varies a lot. I'll probs come back sometime and try something else. Their hot sauce bar is pretty cool. However, the tables can be a little sticky sometimes. The ambiance is fine.

I usually rotate between the tacos, enchiladas, and molcajetes, and while the tacos themselves are just okay, the overall experience is solid. The fresh chips are easily some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant (warm and crisp). Add queso to those chips and it really seals the deal. They more than make up for the tacos being a bit underwhelming and are honestly reason enough to come back. This is a great neighborhood spot if you're looking for authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent chips and dips (biggest downside is no liquor aka no margaritas). Not every dish is a knockout, but the highlights keep it comfortably in 4-star territory.

I was really one mayonnaise filled torta away from missing out on my favorite Mexican restaurant of Cary. The food is some of the freshest and most authentic in the area, and is consistently spot on. Forget heavy burritos or overly sauced enchiladas, this place is the real deal. When you come to Esmeralda Grill, you should really focus on the meat heavy dishes, whether it be via land or sea. There are so many different options to choose from, from both categories. When thinking seafood, expect the full fish. If you find yourself with the fresh grilled tilapia, you will receive a delicious whole fish that tastes as if it was caught that morning. It is such a fantastic option. I also appreciate the camarones a la diabla, or Diablo shrimp. The shrimp are plump and juicy, the spice of the dish is excites your taste buds and is a great dish. My favorite entrees are the land meat dishes though. El Trio Perfecto is my go-to order, it is grilled steak, chicken and pork all on one plate with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. The Mexican spice rub on the meats is absolutely mouth watering, the flavors are so bold and tasty. The meats are all cooked to perfection and the portions are gigantic. You can make different tacos with the various meats, it is seriously one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I would highly recommend this! Additionally, Esmeralda Grill has so many other wonderful dishes for different flavor profiles. My grandparents are pretty particular about empanadas, but simply cannot get enough of Esmeralda's version. They also make some killer tacos, and some very affordable ones if you were to come on Tuesday! The moral of the story? Don't base your opinion of a restaurant after a single visit. You don't come across a fantastic hole in the wall every day, Esmeralda Grill is one that every Mexican food lover should know!

Mi Cancun is not your ordinary Mexican chain restaurant. The atmosphere is lively, service is attentive, decor is cozy and the food is elevated. They start you off with their unlimited chips and salsa. I've had bad chips quite a few times in recent memory at Mexican restaurants, but these are enjoyable. I blink and sudden I am getting a refill. The waiters do a great job going around, making sure you are taken care of. Others push a guacamole cart as a potential appetizer. The service here is good and friendly! There are so many different options at Mi Cancun, they have a huge menu. They have the aforementioned combination platters, but you can also order grilled meats, seafoods, individual tacos and other specialties. I'm a pretty big ACP (arroz con pollo) guy and Mi Cancun puts a neat twist on theirs. Instead of old overcooked rice and overly thick cheese, their ACP is always really fresh with smaller strips of delicious and seasoned chicken, warm cheese and even spicy peppers. The peppers add good flavor and kick, also some vegetables! Every other item I've had here is pretty great as well. They are a Mexican restaurant that has a designated vegetarian section, so I've had some of those and they're good alternatives! It is not just, "let's cram as much frozen veggies into a tortilla." Their diablo shrimp are also good and they recently added beef tongue (lengua) tortas to the menu. This might be my new favorite item, the lengua is so tender and flavorful. Mi Cancun is one of the few places in the area that is busy every night, and for good reason! The food is great and you are taken care of when you're there. This Morrisville location I believe is the original, and they do a fantastic job at upholding this chain's reputation.

Updated Review. February 24, 2026…read more The portions have really changed for the worst. A parrillada dish is now half of what it used to be. As a family of four, we'd order the full size and eat comfortably. Now, two can only eat.
