Fun place. Good prices, jukebox, low lighting, pool table, just loud enough. My favorite bar in Litchfield.

Scanning the food places we picked this because it seemed to have decent ratings and a lot of reviews. Plus, you get go wrong with good ol' American cuisine. The first kind of hiccup is that they must have recently moved building. Though they moved right next to their existing building, there was no signage and we had to rely on our own eyeballs. Which almost led us into the wrong building. Not a bid deal, realistically, but it threw us for a loop. Getting inside, it was super clean. Long bar, plenty of tables, modern, many tvs for many sports. Plus, the building itself seemed rather large. A chonker of a building, if you ask me. Our hostess brought us into what seemed like the back 40 of the building and seated us next to a garage door that overlooked a cement pad that will one day be a cement pad with things on it. Not even mad. Saw a train. Here's the money shot. Have you ever been happy adjacent? Have you ever been right up to the edge, the precipice, the peak, then turn around and leave? That was kind of the ideal feeling here. The ambiance and service and general-ness of the entire place was spot on. The food itself looked top-tier. But it felt a click away from perfection. Let's look into it. As a hefty man (fat, not the garbage bag brand), I'm a man of appetizers. Also of wings. Therefore, sign me up for 12 bone in wings for an app. Split into three flavors: Carolina BBQ, Buffalo, and regular BBQ. They came out looking and smelling delicious. The sauce flavors hit hard. But I was a little let down with the dryness of the wings. I know sometimes it can be difficult to knock a wing out of the park because those damn things just want to get crispy. But I don't want to fight chewing the meat off the bone. It felt like a battle me and my mush mouth would lose. Now, from what I understood, all sides were a la cart. Color me fine with that, fatty will order anyways. Especially since I saw they offered street corn AND hushpuppies. So naturally, that's what I ordered. The hushpuppies came out and were the round kind. Which I am no stranger to. They had good flavor, good done-ness, but missed the mark on the size. If they were hush people, they would have been premies. A little sad they didn't get to experience their full potential. Now, for this part I will say I was forewarned. My server did mention the street corn came in a bowl and was served cold. I thought I was better than somebody who judged street corn by its temperature. I was wrong. It did come cold. And because of that, it was not tasty. Missed the mark completely. I did get a bonus side, your typical, run of the mill French fry. They came out and looked great. Meadiu

Visits in JUL-AUG-OCT 2025…read more We moved into town this summer. Our realtor provided gift certificate as a closing congratulations. After we came the first visit I wanted to take my time, have a few more visits before I wrote. My rating of 3 (okay) in this case think of it as an academic C, a passing grade but certainly room for improvement. Rooster's Pub is okay, the food is okay, the service is okay, it is clean. If you are looking for a bar food meal this is an okay place to choose. You can stop here, disregard the rest and make your choice. I suspect that Rooster's is popular locally (and has some high ratings) is familiarity, and a customer base that hasn't widely traveled, there is nothing wrong with that. I am comfortable saying that this place is also likely a good bar, for those interested in that environment. It is not quite for me (us) as a restaurant. We have only been during the lunch hours. I have never owned a bar or restaurant. I worked in them at various levels earlier in life. I acknowledge how tough it is to be a bar that also has standout food. In my experience that is rather rare. I know that when a bar does get that balance right, they have a limited menu. They make a few things and make them well. A full menu is always going to have to carry some amount of frozen "Sysco" things dropped into hot oil. Our meals, I have had two okay tenderloins and one burger, my wife two fish (slightly overdone) meals, and one burger. My wish is for continued success for Rooster's, it is a fine place for others. As currently functioning it is not a place for me. This is also okay if the oil is always fresh, and the cook is attentive and pulls things soon enough to guard color/texture and the cooking finishes during delivery to table. On another note it seems that in our 3 visits, things are cooked hard and fast but then sit in the window, cooling until delivered lukewarm and past that "golden moment". A few lines about the fries. People do like them, I however do not prefer house cut fries. I think the basic restaurant frozen fry, well executed, is an easy win. Our's have been dark and soggy on arrival. I did get the tots on the middle visit (better), had forgotten the fry defeciency and got them this last time. My wife, a Midwestern lover of all things potato, left nearly half of her order. Overall plating has been a bit haphazard, not expecting a cooking show, but I do appreciate something that arrives looking intentional. There just doesn't seem to be a level of care applied to the meals that have come to our table (a note on that at the end). We have only had the same two front of house workers. They are polite (maybe stiffly and overly so), they get the order right and they accomplish the mission. However is feels a bit like a "transaction", which I understand it is, the customers aren't your friend. I don't think it's just us, there doesn't seem to be any warmth with anyone that comes in (even what I presume are regulars). If there is a scale with annoyed that I exist on one end, and a warm hug on the other, the service here is much closer to the left hashmark. A final note about my meals here. If the gaps in execution are some message that I am not worthy of a best effort, or simply not welcome- message received.

The restaurant is beautiful! The tables are done beautifully, I love the lighting and decor throughout, it gives upscale but homey vibes. The food is always fantastic and authentic, I was stuck on the BG burger for a while, and I don't even like burgers too much but that's a 10/10 burger! I got the steak sandwich, and it was very tender and delicious. The sweet potato fries were seasoned perfectly, and the dessert nachos are homemade and always a hit! That hillbilly bread is also amazing! The cheesiest bread ever BG's is a must for a destination or local dining!

But the woman owner/manager was AWFUL to me the last time I was in there. And I've heard she does that to folks. That my experience with her, though specific, isn't unusual. I'd been SO excited to meet her, but she thought I was making some political statement or Covid statement or something, because I was wearing a mask while having a drink and waiting for my to-go food. I was NOT making a political or Covid-statement. In fact, since I wear a mask, I'd purposely worn a goat-themed mask IN CASE I MET HER. Which I had hoped to do! But in any case, she didn't care why I was wearing it. Just went off on Covid, on vaccines, on what she does and doesn't do in terms of all kinds of things I hadn't asked about. And when I say "went off," I mean that in the middle of it, she turned to another customer and asked, "How much is she [me] going to take?" She knew what she was doing. Anyway, I got my food. I left crying. I cried all the way home. Usually, I just cry watching sappy TV/movies. The food was good. I'll never go back. It's not about the mask. I didn't bring it up, and I don't care what anyone thinks me wearing a mask. I don't comment on other people's appearances. There was no cause for her to comment on mine. Especially not for something smaller than a scarf that doesn't do anyone else any harm. No one needs to share their opinions or assumptions with me. Anyway, from 5 stars to something much two. And the two is for the quality of the food and Jim, I think, is his name. Whatever his opinions of me, he was kind, and the food was good. A real disappointment BG's turned out to be, though. I would have been there every week. Instead, I happily eat elsewhere.

We were seated immediately and our server came right over and took our drink order. We settled on Onion Rings to start after a recommendation by our friendly server. She was right. They were piping hot, the crunchy coating and the onion was so tender on the inside, we managed to clean the plate. Pizza sounded good and they looked great as servers walked by with them. So pizza it was, and it was delicious. Route 66 Motorheads is more than a restaurant, it is a museum, incredible bar area and all around car showroom. There is so much to look at and see. It was a really fun destination with great food and drinks. There is plenty of parking in their own lot and the place does get busy. While we ate around 7 pm during the week we were seated right away, but you can expect a wait at times.

The staff didn't seem to be bothered by the smell at all and simply brushed off as something that happens after it rains and because the building this restaurant is in, is old. Well, I guess that convinced us enough to stay because we did. But despite there only being 1 or 2 other small parties of people in the restaurant, I could feel the waitresses stress, which sort of rubbed off on me, so I felt completely on edge the entire time I was at this restaurant. This being said, and after our kids accidentally knocked their milk all over the table and floor (a dish rag was thrown at it, no mop was brought out to help us clean up), we ordered our food and let's just say, I had pretty low expectations, and I could tell the rest of my party did as well. Well, this restaurant redeemed themselves with the food because everyone was VERY pleased with what they ordered (my husband LOVED his food, which is pretty unheard of for him) and my baked chicken wings were pretty good as well. I didn't request EXTRA EXTRA crispy, and I should have, but they were still pretty good and I probably could have eaten another batch. If I were offered food from this restaurant in the future, I'd probably order it to go because the ambiance of the restaurant sort of ruined the experience for me.
