This is a nice enough little place in a small town. They certainly lean into the Route 66 thing, cool road themed decorations are all over the place. The food is simple, good, home styled fare. There is no fancy plating, or flourish. Our server was pleasant, effective and welcoming. She got me a pin to put in the visit map. We recently moved to the area from Ft. Meade, MD, so I used that as the placement. They have so many I would suggest they only use the tiny head pins and ditch the larger pushpins. Will certainly be back and try other things, got sandwiches on this visit (3 NOV, National Sandwich Day). I got a club, and wife went with the Rueben, both well executed and came with a side. My meat was a little chilly for my preference but well stacked and good bacon. She was happy with her sandwich. read more

This popular little destination serves up some tasty grub. We started with Bavarian pretzels and buffalo wings. Both were excellent. Then I got the ham and cheese sandwich on the pretzel bun. It was very good. I got the sweet potato fries with it. Also very good. It's a fun interior and gets both locals and tourists traveling Route 66. My one complaint - the quarter pound burger was quite tiny. It seemed way smaller than a quarter pound. It was like a toddler sized burger. But service was fantastic and it was a fun meal. read more

I went to Weezy's the first time two days ago because I'm spending a few weeks in Hamel. I didn't know what to expect but the food was amazing! The special was a grilled pork chop and two sides for $10 and it was delicious. Then my husband got dessert: cherry crumb pie a La mode. It was THE BEST cherry crumble EVER!! Went back tonight and the special was open faced roast beef. Tuesday night was not a one-off. . . This meal was delicious as well!! The SERVICE is excellent! They are friendly and attentive. I would come here even if I had to drive 45 minutes. Yes, it's worth it!! read more

We were in search of lunch on our road trip & found this sweet spot. The Route 66 theme was so cleverly crafted. I'm always looking for a good patty melt and I found a very tasty one here. Crisp toasted bread, just the right amount of cheese and a beautiful, perfectly grilled patty. Oh so good!! Hubs chose the lunch plate, one of his favs, meatloaf, potatoes & veggies. We are so glad we found weezys on route 66. It's a classic restaurant that serves burgers, blts, fried chicken well at least we tried those :) The fries are thin and crispy. On our way to Peoria my son asked if we could get something to eat. I pulled out my help app to see what was up the road. Ironically when I first seen it I thought it was Wendy's. We took the exit and parked behind the building. An old building with some character. We walked in and set at the bar. These are the old school mounted round seats with a red top that spin. Anytime I see those I expect some a great breakfast, just like grandma used to make. I order some standard bacon and eggs with a pancake that didn't disappoint. Great service while we were there. I rate it a five star because anytime I'm heading down 55 in the morning, you can bet I will seek this out to eat at again if time permits. Great little find off the interstate. read more

I'd really love to give this place a higher rating, but they just lack in a couple things. I will say Weezy's does highly recognize itself and its place on Old Route 66. Metal signs everywhere and they even have tourist information available (brochures, travel guides). It's an old place with not much parking, but luckily there's lots of it across the road. There is also a Route 66 marker (sponsored by an Illinois Route 66 group) located by that lot for enthusiasts. The service was great both times I've been here, and the bartenders/servers were very welcoming at the bar. The men's bathroom was very crappy, like it was old and not updated. Weezy's is more like a small-town gathering place, with locals as their regulars (who, by the way, I'll admit it were very loud). TVs everywhere, and they even have a big room for crowds and groups. Food was okay. On my most recent visit I had the fish sandwich and fries, and last summer I had the horseshoe. I wasn't blown away either time. The cheese on the horseshoe sandwich wasn't great. Fries are thin. Weezy's does have a decent menu, so maybe I just chose the wrong items? But if I do make it back here, I'll try something else. They have a selection of both domestic and craft beers. No, this place isn't run by Lil' Wayne (hope you get the joke here...). read more

Update: when I reviewed Weezy's a couple of years ago I gave them five stars. Nothing has changed. It's a great, fun, place to eat. The food is very good, the prices are good, the atmosphere is good, the staff and service was great. Although she did ask my companion if he was a serial killer. I'll admit he looks a little shady and I'm sure he made some smart remark that prompted it. If I lived close it would be a regular place for me. It's less than a mile off I-55. Love this place. Service was great. Ordered the Fried Chicken special and as always it was exceptional. Fresh, hot, tender and crispy and perfectly cooked. Not only is the inside of this locally owned restaurant decorated with many Route 66 memorabilia, it sits right off of the old Route 66. The vibe it gives is like stepping back in time from the 50's and enjoying an eatery as like it may have been back in the day. Gotta try it. read more

I dined on Route 66! This diner has been "Weezy's" for 8 years and was called something else prior to that, and it looks like it. Don't don't be distracted by the appearance. The staff are nice, polite and vey helpful and the food is very good, stick to your ribs Midwest favorites. I had the chicken tender with Ranch dressing along with sweet potato fries that were to die for. I am told by other Yelpers that the biscuits and gravy are amazing. I may need to return to "check their rating". read more

Wheezys is a Route 66 treasure!! It's a great bar and serves great food! Two years ago I went there for my birthday it's that good! Funny in particular I love the cherry vinegrette salad dressing! So good! But the best part is all the Route 66 memorabilia. If you like Route 66 stops, Weezys is the place for you. read more

The waitress and staff were very nice. I tried the chicken shoe. It was different than anything I've ever had but I got a little sick of the melted cheese on top. Their sweet tea is southern sweet so that's a plus. My mom had a pasta plate. The meat sauce were flavorful but the stuffed breadstick really had no flavor but it was soft. My dad had the salmon and he said it was flavorful as well and cooked right. My husband had the steak and he said it was good. But I can't say the food was outstanding or above average. read more

I had to kill some time while my car was being repaired at the shop next door. I stopped in for coffee and a light breakfast while I waited. This bar/café was empty except for the staff. This place is on old route 66 and the décor and theme reflected that. It's like you stepped back in time when traveling this historic route was popular. License plates on the walls, posters of old cars, even the bar and tables reminded me of a time long ago. The waitress was friendly and prompt. (No reason to wait, the place was empty) I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The food was up in minutes. The biscuits were homemade and the gravy thick and loaded with sausage. The meal was good and this place would warrant a return visit, except that I don't live anywhere near there. As I mentioned my car was being repaired. Friendly people! We moved to the area a couple months ago and decided to try Weezy's. The bartender was wonderful. Friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable and the portions are decent. Our food has always been cooked well. The buffalo chicken wrap is my favorite. The chicken philly sandwich is also delicious! We love going here for lunch.
