Delish burger!

Stopped here for lunch on our Route 66 journey. We were not disappointed!! Awesome service. Really good burger and good beer. Cool vibe, old school neighborhood bar/restaurant vibe.

We are so glad we found weezys on route 66. It's a classic restaurant that serves burgers, blts, fried chicken well at least we tried those :) The fries are thin and crispy. Try a pretzel bun on any sandwich you order. My niece ordered one for her blt and it looked awesome! :) waitress was awesome but the wait was long.

On our way to Peoria my son asked if we could get something to eat. I pulled out my help app to see what was up the road. Ironically when I first seen it I thought it was Wendy's. We took the exit and parked behind the building. An old building with some character. We walked in and set at the bar. These are the old school mounted round seats with a red top that spin. Anytime I see those I expect some a great breakfast, just like grandma used to make. I order some standard bacon and eggs with a pancake that didn't disappoint. Great service while we were there. I rate it a five star because anytime I'm heading down 55 in the morning, you can bet I will seek this out to eat at again if time permits. Great little find off the interstate.

I'd really love to give this place a higher rating, but they just lack in a couple things. I will say Weezy's does highly recognize itself and its place on Old Route 66. Metal signs everywhere and they even have tourist information available (brochures, travel guides). It's an old place with not much parking, but luckily there's lots of it across the road. There is also a Route 66 marker (sponsored by an Illinois Route 66 group) located by that lot for enthusiasts. The service was great both times I've been here, and the bartenders/servers were very welcoming at the bar. The men's bathroom was very crappy, like it was old and not updated. Weezy's is more like a small-town gathering place, with locals as their regulars (who, by the way, I'll admit it were very loud). TVs everywhere, and they even have a big room for crowds and groups. Food was okay. On my most recent visit I had the fish sandwich and fries, and last summer I had the horseshoe. I wasn't blown away either time. The cheese on the horseshoe sandwich wasn't great. Fries are thin. Weezy's does have a decent menu, so maybe I just chose the wrong items? But if I do make it back here, I'll try something else. They have a selection of both domestic and craft beers. No, this place isn't run by Lil' Wayne (hope you get the joke here...).

Update: when I reviewed Weezy's a couple of years ago I gave them five stars. Nothing has changed. It's a great, fun, place to eat. The food is very good, the prices are good, the atmosphere is good, the staff and service was great. Although she did ask my companion if he was a serial killer. I'll admit he looks a little shady and I'm sure he made some smart remark that prompted it. If I lived close it would be a regular place for me. It's less than a mile off I-55. Check it out.

Excellent service, Cozy ambiance, and fantastic diner food! Great stop for a meal. Price is right too! Our server was super attentive and sweet. Highly recommend.

I dined on Route 66! This diner has been "Weezy's" for 8 years and was called something else prior to that, and it looks like it. Don't don't be distracted by the appearance. The staff are nice, polite and vey helpful and the food is very good, stick to your ribs Midwest favorites. I had the chicken tender with Ranch dressing along with sweet potato fries that were to die for. I am told by other Yelpers that the biscuits and gravy are amazing. I may need to return to "check their rating".

"Lunch special" An experience, complete with overdone, crispy hamburger patty slid between two smashed halves of a bun and brat on bread.

Rooster's Pub - Bone in Buffalo sauce

Rooster's Pub

(13 reviews)

Visits in JUL-AUG-OCT 2025…read more We moved into town this summer. Our realtor provided gift certificate as a closing congratulations. After we came the first visit I wanted to take my time, have a few more visits before I wrote. My rating of 3 (okay) in this case think of it as an academic C, a passing grade but certainly room for improvement. Rooster's Pub is okay, the food is okay, the service is okay, it is clean. If you are looking for a bar food meal this is an okay place to choose. You can stop here, disregard the rest and make your choice. I suspect that Rooster's is popular locally (and has some high ratings) is familiarity, and a customer base that hasn't widely traveled, there is nothing wrong with that. I am comfortable saying that this place is also likely a good bar, for those interested in that environment. It is not quite for me (us) as a restaurant. We have only been during the lunch hours. I have never owned a bar or restaurant. I worked in them at various levels earlier in life. I acknowledge how tough it is to be a bar that also has standout food. In my experience that is rather rare. I know that when a bar does get that balance right, they have a limited menu. They make a few things and make them well. A full menu is always going to have to carry some amount of frozen "Sysco" things dropped into hot oil. Our meals, I have had two okay tenderloins and one burger, my wife two fish (slightly overdone) meals, and one burger. My wish is for continued success for Rooster's, it is a fine place for others. As currently functioning it is not a place for me. This is also okay if the oil is always fresh, and the cook is attentive and pulls things soon enough to guard color/texture and the cooking finishes during delivery to table. On another note it seems that in our 3 visits, things are cooked hard and fast but then sit in the window, cooling until delivered lukewarm and past that "golden moment". A few lines about the fries. People do like them, I however do not prefer house cut fries. I think the basic restaurant frozen fry, well executed, is an easy win. Our's have been dark and soggy on arrival. I did get the tots on the middle visit (better), had forgotten the fry defeciency and got them this last time. My wife, a Midwestern lover of all things potato, left nearly half of her order. Overall plating has been a bit haphazard, not expecting a cooking show, but I do appreciate something that arrives looking intentional. There just doesn't seem to be a level of care applied to the meals that have come to our table (a note on that at the end). We have only had the same two front of house workers. They are polite (maybe stiffly and overly so), they get the order right and they accomplish the mission. However is feels a bit like a "transaction", which I understand it is, the customers aren't your friend. I don't think it's just us, there doesn't seem to be any warmth with anyone that comes in (even what I presume are regulars). If there is a scale with annoyed that I exist on one end, and a warm hug on the other, the service here is much closer to the left hashmark. A final note about my meals here. If the gaps in execution are some message that I am not worthy of a best effort, or simply not welcome- message received.

Finally got to try the local pub and the only place I've seen offer Bluegill as a fish option! I'm…read morevery glad I had the opportunity to experience it and it reminded me of similarities to buffalo a lot. Now besides that it seemed though to be the typical overpriced greasy bar food. The highlight of it all were the onion rings which tasted the same as the ones Hardee's use to have before they discontinued them. The downside were the fried pickles and unsalted fries. We did a pickup order and the food was ready for pickup in the 15-20 minute timeframe given. Inside seemed just like an average small town bar that's mostly for those there to drink. The customer service seemed alright and basic to get the job done for such. Was told that they would soon have to-go menus which would be amazing but can find it online. Would probably go back if wanting something quick close by but with keeping in mind of the cost.
