Really good diner. we had the fried chicken special. 2 pieces with 2 sides - potatoes mashed or…read moresalad, coleslaw, pickled beets, veggie of the day, cottage cheese etc - for $5.95. Chicken has a very thin crust and was properly cooked. not greasy at all. the mashed potatoes were our least favorite part of the meal, mostly because we didn't get enough brown gravy. truthfully, I think we shod have simply asked for more gravy, so I can't place any fault on the kitchen. Pickled beets were what I love, sliced and not sweet. the coleslaw was chopped and had a mild vinegar dressing, yum. we were the clean plate.club.. Service was prompt, they checked on us, all was good. we had big appetites satisfied pleasantly with a decent tip for $19. I really appreciated the healthier options available, along with the clean, nice atmosphere and really good service. We'll be back.

I just stopped in this morning, driving through on buisness. Small town, thought I'd give the diner…read morea try. I ordered the breakfast special, came with toast, I asked to sub a biscuit, the server told me it would be extra. I thought fine a small upcharge. The biscuit on the menu is a,dollar. Time to pay, I go to the register which is way at the back of the place. There is a sign saying cash or check only. . Here's the thing, my bill was 9 dollars, the upcharge for my biscuit instead of bread that came with the meal was the menu price of a dollar. Feeling like 25 cent upcharge would have been fair since I didn't get toast. Pretty expensive for two eggs, hashbrowns, piece of sausage, biscuit and coffee. I did not have enough cash on me, had to go to the atm next door. Wasn't my bank, of course, so in order to pay cash I had to pay an extra 3 bucks to get cash. So back to the diner. 9 bucks for breakfast, 3.00 it cost me at the atm to get cash, 2 dollar tip. So 14 bucks for breakfast. Seriously? I mentioned to my server that the menu should state it's a cash or check only joint. Was told, there's a sign on the door and she walked off. There is indeed as I saw when I left, faded, scratched, small and not at eye level so someone who had never been there before would notice it, I was more concerned about trying not to slip on ice coming in the door. Kinda aggravating.

In addition to their regular menu, DPH always has a Weekly Special Menu. Once I saw what the weekly special pasta was, I had to have it. I am a huge fan of Smoked Salmon and they did theirs in house. The pasta not only had the smoked salmon, it also had sautéed red onion, a tangy European style cream cheese sauce and cavatappi pasta with fried cappers and fresh dill. The cream sauce was perfect. It was just a light covering, enough for flavor without being overwhelming. As always, the portion was healthy, so I had leftovers for the next days lunch. I enjoyed it chilled and it was like eating a cold pasta salad. DPH always gets bonus points from me for having eco-friendly to-go vessels. My adult beverage of choice for the seafood pasta, was a glass of Pinot Gris. I prefer a Grigio, but they only had the Gris. Gris is fairly similar to Grigio. I always say, it's like a first cousin, once removed. Service is always top-notch. It doesn't matter if you are sitting at a table or the bar, you'll be treated right.

Lindsay's actually connects through to Kates on the other side of the building, Kates was hosting a high school reunion while we were in town. The original bar looks as it has for as long as I can remember with the old booths lining the wall opposite the bar and a full length bar lined with stools. Despite it's appearance that hasn't changed in years, it still manages to feel clean, bright and inviting. It is connected to Old Boys Pizza by a game room with two pool tables, shuffleboard and a juke box. They have live entertainment as well as a DJ on certain nights. They have a few domestics on Tap but mostly bottles with very reasonable prices. The staff is always very friendly and treat everyone like a regular. If you're in the area it is a must visit.
