I just stopped in this morning, driving through on buisness. Small town, thought I'd give the diner a try. I ordered the breakfast special, came with toast, I asked to sub a biscuit, the server told me it would be extra. I thought fine a small upcharge. The biscuit on the menu is a,dollar. Time to pay, I go to the register which is way at the back of the place. There is a sign saying cash or check only. . Here's the thing, my bill was 9 dollars, the upcharge for my biscuit instead of bread that came with the meal was the menu price of a dollar. Feeling like 25 cent upcharge would have been fair since I didn't get toast. Pretty expensive for two eggs, hashbrowns, piece of sausage, biscuit and coffee. I did not have enough cash on me, had to go to the atm next door. Wasn't my bank, of course, so in order to pay cash I had to pay an extra 3 bucks to get cash. So back to the diner. 9 bucks for breakfast, 3.00 it cost me at the atm to get cash, 2 dollar tip. So 14 bucks for breakfast. Seriously? I mentioned to my server that the menu should state it's a cash or check only joint. Was told, there's a sign on the door and she walked off. There is indeed as I saw when I left, faded, scratched, small and not at eye level so someone who had never been there before would notice it, I was more concerned about trying not to slip on ice coming in the door. Kinda aggravating. read more
