Little bland on the egg sandwiches but that is good cause you can add some of their hot sauces and the perks them right up!! Get the kind of spice you want. Coffee is always good. My uncle and I eat at the chicory quite often. Sometimes we just go for the buy one get one free drinks which includes soft drinks, beer, chocolate milk and more. I think that's a really good sale. I also like their variety of ice cream they have so many flavors and the ice cream is delicious! All the waitresses are very friendly. The bathrooms are extremely clean. I think you could eat off their floor it's so clean. I will definitely be going back soon. read more

3 stars today, giving benefit of the doubt. I normally love Chicory perhaps the lack of smiles and personality of the counter staff directly correlated to this mornings slow service. While still tasty, my wife's quiche was overcooked. My flatbread seemed undercooked. At least the gumbo. Was its usual yummy self! The atmosphere at Mishawaka is different from the downtown South Bend location. Quiter, but less pizzazz. read more

I've been coming here for years, and I've never had a bad experience. From sandwiches to Mac n cheese to flatbreads-it's all delicious. It's a fun cafe-great decor, fun events, and always friendly staff. This morning I went in for breakfast, which I don't think I've done before. Stopped in to grab coffee and something to go and get back on the road. I prefer stopping in local places which is always a gamble and this one didn't pay off for me. The location is kind of odd but had easy parking. They were fairly busy with dine in customers. I ordered an oat milk mocha and a bagel and it was $12, a bit steep to start. My order came out within 10 minutes but the bagel was barely warm and the butter was rock hard and not spreadable. The bagel itself also lacked flavor but was fine. The mocha ratio was way off to the point where I couldn't enjoy it. I wouldn't return here. read more

Chicory Cafe serves up traditional cafe bites with a southern cajun twist. I got the Mardi Gras mac and cheese and really its flavors. I would recommend! I visited earlier this week so it was just in time to enjoy their fall specialty drinks. I got the pumpkin chai and OMG it was as I drank a pumpkin pie. Delish! I would suggest going for the options that lean more on the cajun side because it seemed like their traditional options were lackluster, especially considering the price points. Service was great, very friendly staff. The only thing that fell short were the beignets. They were very doughy and not sweet. It just tasted wrong. I have lived in the area for many many years and have heard of chicory cafe before, however It didn't catch my eye until the new one opened in Mishawaka! So let me just start by saying, I judge coffee houses not only on the brand and taste of their coffee and espresso, but also by their " cozy place for work or reading with other like minded people" vibe. This cafe is slightly dimmed however in subtle relaxing way. Good music playing. The overall feel is cozy and relaxing. My first visit I was greeted warmly and was given several recommendations. The menu is cafe / new Orléans mesh. I decided on a chai latte and an order of beignets. Chai latte- Let me say firstly, I LOVE chai lattes. They are always my first choice. I wanted to love this drink, truly. It was creamy and hot and smelled lovely. However, there was a flavor in their chai that I absolutely could not stand. I still cannot tell you what the flavor was, but it was a hard no for my personal taste. Beignets- OH sweet heaven! These are absolutely killer! They come very hot and fresh, each one was so fluffy and not to thick or too airy. Perfect! Yes, I ate all three and regret nothing! I want to add that I made a point to try a different hot drink to truly give this cafe a true chance to show what they are about. Large Sugar free vanilla latte with almond milk and cinnamon on top- Perfection! The espresso was smooth and had a wonderful flavor and aroma, the latte was balanced perfectly with sweet vanilla and cinnamon. Sooooo good! I've come here a few times only to find that they have closed early for some random reason. There's only been about 2 successful trips with customer service lacking both times. My orders were also incorrect to some degree both times as well. Sometimes it was a case of not leaving room for creamer or giving me the incorrect drink. The food however was good, but not on the same level as the other location in southbend. I'm not sure why this is, so I've tried to give them multiple chances, but it's worth the price. I would recommend going to another location if you would like the full experience of Chicory Cafe. As a side note I would like to note the mask sign is still on the door, but the staff does not wear mask nor is it enforced. read more

Stopped in for a quick solo breakfast two weeks ago and was not disappointed. Staff wear masks and encourage social distancing... seating open inside as well as outside patio if you prefer. I placed my order of egg po' boy with tomato, mushroom and Swiss cheese and enjoyed my regular coffee outside while I waited. It was a gorgeous morning with a handful of other diners enjoying the outdoors as well. Within a reasonable amount of time, a friendly server brought out my food which was excellent... and too large to eat in one sitting. I asked for a take out container and saved the other half for another meal. I'm looking forward to returning. I'm so sad. Had the beignets at the Mishawaka location and they were the tiniest,saddest, flatest, flavorless beignets ever. They looked like mini deflated pop tarts. These use to be huge, fluffy and amazing. I don't know if there is a new chef or what but so very sad. read more

Came here with friends who live in the area for lunch. You're welcomed with a colorful mural on the outside wall; almost giving it a New Orlean style feel. Inside is very warm and inviting. Lots of menu boards with beer/drink specials. I decided to go for the Seafood Gumbo and wasn't disappointed. Exactly how I like it. Has a nice kick of spice to it and the side of cornbread that comes with the order was the perfect compliment to it. Flavors on point. Was very satisfied with it. Fantastic food and drinks, good dining area, nice outdoor area. The employees are also super nice and helpful. The event center is nice as well, I was at a work party there last year. The only downside is that there's only one set of restrooms. So if an event is big enough to use the lobby, you'll have to wander through a wedding reception to use the restroom. read more

Super cute spot in Mishawaka beer the river walk. We stopped by for breakfast on Valentine's Day. Great bourbon street latte. Very robust bourbon flavor. My wife had the tomato mushroom and Swiss poor boy and I have the sausage egg and cheese poor boy with a side of chorizo gravy. it was really good on top of the egg and sausage and cheese. The buns for the poor boys we took off because there was nothing spectacular about it. The eggs we supper fluffy and smoking hot. My wife and I were exploring the newly built Mill area in downtown Mishawaka when we got hungry. And when we get hungry, we'll you know, you don't want to get Hangry, right? This place is right on the edge of the parking area of the Mill. I had no idea what type of food they had, but was I pleasantly surprised to find all of these Cajun favorites! The food, oh my, the food is great. Please see the pictures I attached, and yes it tasted as great as it looked. The 3 pastry treats were perfect and one is more than plenty so 3 is nice to share. The shrimp Po'Boy was perfection. We also loved the Jambalaya. My Muffata (sp?) was great, the bread was a tad hard, but maybe that's the way it is supposed to be, you know with the French influence and what not. Next time I will try the gumbo, complete with crawfish. They have a great beer, mixed drink and wine selection. You order fast food style and they bring it to your table. 2nd time here and once again did not disappoint. For the table we ordered the hummus, jambalaya, and crawfish Mac and cheese. My daughter and I had shrimp Po' boys and we shared an order of beignets. Everything was delicious. The Mac and cheese was probably the best Mac and cheese I've ever had and the crawfish were tender and sweet. Now let's talk about the beignets. Wow!!! My husband and I were first time visitors here on a Friday in the early evening. My advise to any newbie would be to know the menu. This is not your typical bar food offering. The menu is posted above the counter and is quite detailed, even color coded. Unfortunately, we didn't know how to decode the colors! We were a bit overwhelmed and felt like we were swimming upstream. You order at a counter, fast food style. The order taker was quite busy. It seemed like we were expected to know the ins and outs of the process. Alas, we didn't. Your food is then delivered to your table. This all worked out fine. Perhaps we were wrong in expecting more of a welcome than we received. We are certainly capable of thinking on our feet and ended up with full bellies, just no warm fuzzies. The food was good. Looking around, we noticed several groups socializing both inside and outside. The decor was well done in theory, the staff didn't seem to deliver as well as we would have thought. Overrated. I live in South Bend and this place is fine for any meal but not something I would choose. It's food is just good enough, but VERY overpriced for what you're getting. Atmosphere is fine as well and they're decently fast and friendly service. However, I would never recommend them, with so many restaurants in the area that have better and cheaper food. read more
