Came out to repair a leaking pipe at my parents home, charged $300 to cap off the line, then they were told that it was "too late" in the day to fix because their shift was going to be over. They proceeded to say that it would cost another $600 for them to come back on the weekend to actually repair it. Literally just replacing a PVC pipe, 20 minutes of work and maybe $20 of materials MAX, and they want to charge my parents $900 total. Took advantage of my parents because they're elderly. I'll be doing the repair myself. Beware of these lazy crooks. read more

I've used this company for various services in the past without issue, but recently I had a leak on a Tuesday around 5 pm. I called, and the voicemail said it was after hours and to press 1 for emergency service, which I did. Someone answered but informed me they were not available for the job, and the soonest they could come out was Saturday. This was surprising given that they advertise 24-hour emergency service. Called Chick's Plumbing this morning because the previous owner had used them to install a whole home water purification system, plus they are very close to our home - and we like supporting local businesses. We had a kitchen sink backup, and the plumbing into the disposal was badly corroded into the disposal unit - so I knew I would need to purchase a new disposal. I was quoted between 3 to 5:00 pm, and although I was hoping for sooner than that, I called Chick's back and booked the appointment. We received a call at approximately 11:00 am that they could in fact come right then - and Bret and his helper arrived at 11:15 am. They installed the new disposal, and hooked everything backup, but the sink drain needed snaking. While snaking, there appeared to be quite a lot of black grease that probably contributed to the blockage issue, over a few years time. After thoroughly snaking, everything seemed to be fine. I was impressed with the workmanship, and friendly attitude of Bret. He also lives in South OC, and knows the area well. We live in Dana Point, and I would highly recommend Chick's as a local professional plumbing company, here in South OC. read more

Our toilet and shower was being backed up due to main line blockage according to the lady on the phone. She sent down two men to fix the problem. They went outside with a giant snake like machine and sent it down a pipe outside my home. Before you know it there was no more blockage and the two gave me a discount for being a new customer. I just had a wonderful experience with Chicks Plumbing....Their plumber Angelo came by and fixed the problem in no time for a very low charge....my upstairs bathroom was causing a leak downstairs, thru a light vent. It was very much like a waterfall every time someone used the shower. So what was needed was a new water spout and new caulking... the problem was repaired in 30 minutes and I was charged under a $150 Thanks again Angelo!!! read more

My tenant called them in Jan of 2022 since Laundry drain was clogged and they needed immediate relief. Workers came and estimated that they have to hydro jet to clear the drain. As I didn't want to inconvenience the tenant and because these guys already gonna charge a hefty price to even come and give an estimate, I went ahead without getting second opinion. After the camera and hydro jet to clear the drain, they also recommended I do some cast iron junction repair and gave another hefty estimate, that too without covering reflooring and cement work. I didn't do that extra work as I had to coordinate with another contractor and these guys didn't give specifics on location. Within few months, tenant complained of the same issue. When I called them if they can give any break since this happened in a short time, they said I didn't do the recommended repair and can't stand by their hydro jet work. Moreover, they wanted another $300 to come over and clear the drain (lot more if they have to hydro jet ). Just as an option, I called another family owned rooter service. They came within a short time and cleared the clog for half the price. Summary:- not reliable, no pride in work, not honest, inflexible pricing, and just way over priced. read more

Whenever you need plumbing problems repaired right the first time, you need to call Chick's. Bret, the owner, has been here to fix a leak coming from our kitchen ceiling. He was also here to convert our bbq from propane to natural gas! He does it all! Clay was called to replace our "old, rotten" aluminum pipes under the kitchen sink. Those pipes have been here since 1974! I called Chick's Plumbing again this week to fix a slab leak. Clay came out the same day that I called. He fixed our problem by rerouting the 1/2" cold line. It is such a pleasure to work with professional people that you can trust. I would recommend Chick's plumbing to anyone, family and friends. These guys are top notch. One star for being so greedy. I have a slab leak and have decided that rather than repair the problem, I am going to completely redo the plumbing in my 1970's-built home. I live 1/2 mile from Chicks and asked them to come and bid the job. I was flabbergasted to hear that they charge $47.50 to give estimates. And yes, I clarified this with the woman on the phone. Chixs plumbing went out to our building, claimed to fix our clogged pipes and left with a clog still in place. These people did not fix the issue! they billed more than double what their competitors do. when queried with a Better Business Bureau complaint they failed to respond. It appears this is a common practice with them. This plumbing outfit is a typical scam operation and I would highly advise avoiding using them for plumbing. don't fall a victim like we did. We just wanted our plumbing unclogged. They would not come back and finish the job either. Avoid at all costs! read more

We had a serious problem with our entire home's plumbing system completely blocked by a failed soft water system introducing resin to every fixture in the house. Joe came out early on a Sunday morning, diagnosed the problem and went right to work to get us functional again. These people are terrific. We came home today at 3:15 and were told by workers at the home that they had sliced through a water line, and our home water was off. Their boss had been calling many other plumbers in the area, but nobody was willing to come out on short notice. We called Chick's, who we had used before, and they were at our house immediately. They saved us from checking into a motel for the evening, as we wern't ready to spend the night without water, toilets, etc. To top it off, their bill was very reasonable. read more

Chicks Plumbing is under new ownership and the quality has gone done significantly. We just had a water heater installed, by the new owner, for $1500- but to bring it "up to code" it would have been another $600. We couldn't afford the extra, so opted to sign off that we would bring it "up to code" at a later date. The same day we found out that another Plummer would have been only $1500 including "bringing it up to code". During the install I asked what "bringing up to code" entailed for $600. He said #1 a pan an under the unit #2something else maybe a valve- I can't remember #3 was installation of extra copper piping, which was "a majority of the cost". I said can we just put the pan or cheaper items in and he said- your husband didn't want to pay for it so I didn't bring it and don't have it in my truck! I asked if he would place it under the unit, if I went to Home Depot to purchase a pan. He said, "absolutely happy to...but you won't need it". I just felt better so I went to get the pan and he was nice enough to put it under the unit free of charge. THANK GOODNESS I got it, because the water heater began leaking into the pan and from the pan onto our garage floor. I'm really disappointed because when he returned to fix it, he said "I always install a pan- you didn't want to pay for it" and he asked if I wanted to see where I signed off that we opted out of "bringing it up to code". Shame on him- he knows what happened! He fixed the leak today, apparently a faulty part. But I still have a bad feeling about it. If I hadn't gone to the store our wooden box under the water heater could have been saturated with water and possibly worse water damage- such a bummer. In the end there was an insincere apology, I won't be calling them again! read more

There are plumber showed up on the premise and one in and try to do a repair to our commercial plumbing he said he had finished after about 10 minutes and handed us an absolutely awful Bill and claim to fixed it within 30 minutes it started leaking again and it was water all over and I closed my business. I would give zero stars if I could. Clay came out to our home to look at a leaking bathroom sink faucet. He quoted me $164 to diagnose the problem and en another $304 to fix it. This was a dripping faucet. If I had known it would cost nearly $500 to fix it I would have just replaced the whole faucet. Clay not only was dishonest, he was rude and and unprofessional. I knew he was upset that we didn't do all the other expensive fixes he recommended so he had to cheat us in charging us way too much for a simple job. Please go elsewhere! Chick's Plumbing is a total ripoff! We had to replace a water filter from a system that Chick's had originally installed many years ago. It's one that fits underneath the kitchen sink. I called to find out what the price of the new filter (they replaced it every 2 years so they had the info on file). The woman said she didn't have the information and that it would cost $47.50 to have a guy come out for a service call. I said fine. The guy came out, spent 10 mins in my home and said the water filter would cost $619.00 to replace it. I told him that was outrageous! He said that's what his boss said to charge. I said no way! He then tried to sell me a whole new water system for the entire house for $4300. I said no thanks. So, I was charged $47.50 just to tell me the price of the filter when the woman on the phone could have looked it up and told me the same information for free. They screwed me out for $47.50. Nice huh? I then called three other plumbing places and I could have a brand new system that fits underneath my sink including the filter for $495. All three of them couldn't understand why a replaceable water filter cost $619. They had never heard of ANY FILTER costing that much for an under the sink unit. My advice.... Stay away from Chick's Plumbing! read more

Not too thrilled with Chick's Pluming in Capo Beach. Tore a bunch of wholes in the drywall doing "leak detection." Heck if that's all it takes I could do leak detection. The man who came was very unclear about the fees, and gave me a bill twice what it should have been. No wonder they don't have any reviews on here (or Google). I should have been leery when I got the coupon mailer. But I had a slab leak, and being new to the area don't know many people in order to get a referral. Chick's Plumbing does NOT stand behind their work! They did not do a thorough job un-clogging a mainline stoppage. Within 24 hours it was backed-up again! They would not come back to fix it without charging us again and would not refund our money. I wish I could give a minus 5 stars instead of one. *Regarding Ronda's comment below: I was there when the Chick's Plumbing tech told me that he didn't find anything clogging the line! Had a leak in my garage ceiling. The drywall in the ceiling was bowing and the water was pouring down like a rainfall. I called Chick's plumbing and they came with in an hour to help. I was very pleased with the work, but not the price. They charge $164.50 for a diagnostic which is basically to find the leak. Considering my garage is not that big, it took about 5 secs to find it. Then it was an additional $340 to replace to 2-4 foot pipes. Samuel, was very nice and accommodating. He cleaned up the messhe made and was very courteous. The only complaint I have is that I did not want to replace the broken pipes with copper but, wanted the new PEX material. Samuel said that he would have to come back the next day since he did not have it on his truck and would have to order it. The other thing was that he wanted to charge me the same price to install the PEX pipe. I called Home Depot and they had a 1/2" PEX Pipe for $1.69 for 5ft. I asked him how much labor was and he said $223. Hmm... copper piping is not that expensive either. Since myself nor my husband felt comfortable fixing this leak ourselves, we were basically caught between a rock and hard place. read more

My regular plumber had spent an hour tearing apart my wall looking for a leak and determined it was rooted in the slab. Unfortunately he was booked and could not get to it within a week. He suggested I call one of the local plumbers. I went with Chick's, what a mistake. Their guy shows up, spends 10 minutes looking at what my plumber had done, and breaks out an estimate of $500 to check out the leak, and says it will be a minimum of $1500-$1700 on top of that no matter how little time they spend. And he adds, we might need to re-pipe the whole house! When I say that's insane, he says it's a service business and that's the way it works. When I tell him I ran a multi million service business for 10 years, he says I'm just a worker, not the boss. He then proceeds to charge me $89 for his "service" call. Called Chicks Plumbing to install a whole house water shutoff valve while leaving the sprinkler system on. Joe came a short time later, looked over our plumbing system and found that we already had a valve in a convenient location. That was a big surprise as we've lived here more than 20 years. Joe told us to turn off our circulating pump when we turn offf the water so the pump doesn't burn out. Almost the best part of this experience with Chicks is that there was no bill for the information. We are certain to make Chicks Plumbing an automatic call for any plumbing problem. read more

I have dealt with many vendors. Chick's was the worst in my memory. I had a kitchen sink faucet repair in need. After multiple visits, use of wrong parts, and basically breaking down the old kitchen sink faucet, the overall charge ended up being a whopping $550! That's not including the sink faucet. While working on the faucet, the plumber did something to the dishwasher so that the door wouldn't open. We ended up calling the manager who swore this was one of his best workers. Fortunately, we did not have to pay for the fixing of the dishwasher door! Very unprofessional, not trustworthy, and took advantage of a situation. I would not trust this company. Greedy. Sunday during the Christmas season, the guest toilet is still plugged, and I owe Chick's Plumbing $400+, when their employee Joe, without blinking, recommends a procedure that will cost another $600+. "I'll get a second opinion." Early the following morning, Joe called : in debriefing with his boss, he had overlooked a possibility - snaking the line when the toilet was removed. He'd like to have another go at it - No Charge. That solved the problem, but on the invoice he added the words Zero Warranty. A face-saving gesture, perhaps, or just a number expressing the likelihood that I will call Chick's for plumbing services again. On the + side: On the first day, Joe gave me a 10% discount from the bill. He came back the next day and solved the problem at no charge. On the - side: I could have paid in excess of $1000 on the first day. I have Zero Warranty. read more

If I could give them a lower rating I would. I had my house snaked and then it flooded again, the original plumber said it needed to be jetted. When I called Chicks they said it was a bad snake and they would fix it. Their snake cost three times what the original plumber charged. One week later its flooding again. They will come out for 650 again to snake it or 3500 to jet it. They are dishonest as they come, and the owner is beyond rude. If they have a positive review they wrote it! read more
