We came here for a weekday dinner and enjoyed the food, service and the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and it's a cozy place to have dinner. We ordered 2 flavors of "Chicken N' Cones: Chilli Twist & Creamy Spice". They also offer spicy waffles, which we had to try. So, we ordered "Jerk Chicken" from "Chicken and Waffles" menu and "Smokey Maple & Green Heat" from Wafflewiches menu. The food was fresh and perfectly spiced. The Representative, who refused to give his name, was rude, obnoxious and condescending. We have been loyal customers of this location and regularly recommend it to others. We have, on occasion, ordered 100 pieces to cater for kids' parties. We called today to do the same - we explained we wanted to order 100 pieces at the rate of the 12-piece boxes (which would come to approx $250 plus tax). The rep refused to honour this deal (on their site) and instead insisted he was giving an "amazing" discount while quoting $390 (using the two-piece rate plus a "discount"). It was clear there was a communication issue, as he didn't understand the intended order or the math behind it. When we sought to explain our position - he became belligerent and rude, raised his voice, and said my wife was "talking nonsense," among other snippy comments. When I went to the store to complain to his manager, he approached the entire event arrogantly and was unapologetic. He initially refused to speak with me in person - apparently only comfortable being rude and aggressive with my wife over the phone. At the insistence of Abdul, another employee there who was very reasonable, the unnamed employee eventually stated, "he was sorry my wife's feelings were hurt." Throughout the event, he was cranky and obnoxious and arrogant. He refused to acknowledge the things he had said and continued to insist upon the "nonsense" of our position. Notable we got a superior deal from Popeyes with a 5 min call. This unnamed representative has single-handedly lost chicken squared our, and our family and friends' business, with his behaviour and inability to address it with a modicum of good customer service. read more

Bought the 12 pc chicken dinner set. It was awful. This yellowish dark chicken meat which has no taste. Soggy and not crispy with a gap between the breading and the so called chicken so when you take a bite all the breading falls off. Very disappointing. I finished the first 3 pcs choosing the nicest pieces I found in my 12 piece set. But each piece I had made me realize it wasn't getting any better. I threw the rest out. I wouldn't feed this to my Boston terrier who will eat anything that drops on the floor. I think the quality of the chicken this place gets is very bad. Good ol' comfort food in Oakville. This is the second time I've come here. Today, we ordered the Wednesday special of chicken gyro with rice ($6.25) and 4 piece strips combo ($7.5). This fast food restaurant seats about 25-30 (tables and bar stools). Posters on the wall claim that their oil has no trans fat and no cholesterol. The gyro was good, especially for the price, but the chicken strips stole the show by far. Oakville isn't really known for it's comfort foods or even fast food options for that matter...but FINALLY...the fat guy kid inside me has a solid place to go when i'm looking for a greasy fix. While the popcorn chicken is a MUST HAVE, the sides are all well above average as well (onion rings - amazing, wedges - great, fries - good), what's even more impressive is that they also cater to those that are trying to protect their waist-lines. The concept here is to provide above average chicken, whether fried or rotisserie style, and they've done just that. The prices are also very reasonable...particularly for the quality of the food that you get. My wife and I got two fried chicken sandwhich combos which were awesome and an order of popcorn chicken (all white meat - tastes like the kernal/colonel (is that right?)...except with REAL pieces of chicken). This all came out to just under $20...but the portions were big and we had enough leftover popcorn chicken for another meal. They also have their own special mayos which I believe are made in-house...i'm pretty big on sauces so that won me over and earned this place it's fourth star. We went back to try the grilled/rotisserie chicken as well as the chicken fingers and we were not disappointed. The grilled veges that come with the rotisserie chicken were surprisingly better than expected...the grilled chicken however left a bit more to be desired. All-in-all...Chicken Squared is a welcomed new addition to Oakville. I'm very happy that they've setup shop close to my house. Sounds like most reviews would agree that this place is hit or miss. I gave Chicken Squared 3 stars based on the fact that my wings were OK. I think that ordering them with sauce on the side was a good idea. The interior is clean, (probably because the place is new), however the service is really slow. There is a sign asking people for patience because the food takes time to make as it is being cooked "fresh". So if you get your food quickly, you might suspect its been there for a while. I had the wings and they were medium to small size but tasted good. The order took about 20 minutes from time of ordering. The counter staff was friendly and apologized for the food taking so long. Pricing is OK and the menu features a number of different types of chicken dishes for either fried or oven roasted chicken. If you stick to the basics, I think you'll find the food is good. What you should go for here is the chicken fingers most, followed by the fried chicken and/or popcorn chicken. Do not get the poutine, it's terrible. But it's chicken squared not poutine squared. Tried on recommendation of a friend...maybe it's time I find a new friend :( The chicken was dry and had a rewarmed heatlamp flavor. It obviously wasn't prepared fresh. The portion for the cost was small. My kids were still hungry after eating their meal. I think it has the possibility to be good, but isn't at this point. Update - a couple years later things appear sorted out. The Thursday chicken burger is made fresh (takes some time) and has a fresh bun and condiments. It is a bit spicy but yummy. It's a great place, don't get me wrong. I've been to this place so many times in one year. Every Friday there are so many kids coming here to eat for lunch (They come from Garth Webb and Capt. R. Wilson), so be warned if you want to stay in on a Friday noon. Sometimes it feels like the orders take to long to be made, but I do not blame them, there are many costumers on Fridays. BEST fried chicken EVER-- preservative-free REAL FRESH chicken and sauces/sides. My first experience with chicken pieces that are very crispy, moist but not greasy- literally my fingers weren't oily after! I can't pick my favorite sauce - chipotle, garlic, sweet n sour.. and apparently they are all homemade. My husband got the lemon pepper wings which I thought I wouldn't like and we ended up having to order more for take-out later because the flavor is so good and leaves a little taste on your lips to enjoy after the last bite ;). We came back once as we were only in town for the weekend and got an amazing crispy chicken sandwich that was big, filling and nice n spicy. The rotisserie chicken was also delish. I called in to order 3 fish 'n' chips meals, plus 2 extra fish pieces, so the guy there suggested I order the 5-piece "Family Meal deal" (to quote the restaurant): 5 pieces of fish, with fries, but without the rolls or drinks. That sounded like it should be a better deal, since I didn't need the drinks, so I agreed. When I arrived and went to pay, the cost was essentially as much as 5 separate meals! The "Family Meal deal" is $45.50, whereas each haddock meal is $9.75 ($9.75 x 5 = $48.75), but the "deal" omits the rolls and drinks, so there's not much of a deal. To his credit, the guy at the register offered to throw in the drinks at no extra charge, but since I didn't need them, I declined. It's no better for the halibut option: $63.75 for the 5-piece "deal" vs. 5 x $13.25 = $66.25 for 5 individual meals. So beware of their so-called "deals". On the positive side, although the food took a while to be ready (at least 20 minutes), it was fresh and good, and the staff (at least, the guy I dealt with) was very nice. Great place for some delicious chicken and no guilt. I had lemon pepper spiced chicken and then we got chicken sandwiches for the road. I don't know which is better, I ate like 18 wings at the restaurant and 1 sandwich once we crossed the border. Their signature sauces are unbelievable... I have gotten whole chicken from Chicken Squared and served it at home dressed with their salads and fries... I've been in twice including today. I had different counter attendants each time, and both told me my order would be ready in 2-3 minutes. The first time was over 10 minutes. Today I kept track, it was nine minutes. After four minutes he told me it would be two more minutes. Which is fine I guess, just tell me it's going to be ten minutes. I work in the area and I could be doing something else instead of tapping my toe in the restaurant. Anyways, the first time I had just the 4pc chicken strips. I got 8 very skinny pieces of chicken, heavily battered. Today I got the 4pc chicken strips again plus a Wraptor. The Wraptor was good, similar to a Chicken Snack Wrap like you'd get at McDonalds or Wendys. This time the Chicken Strips were four complete different sizes, one very large, one extremely small, and two in betweeners. Again, heavy on the breading. I had chipotle sauce but the two little containers they gave me were barely full and didn't last for the four strips. I guess on the positive you can fill your tummy for five or six bucks, and the food isn't terrible, but isn't great by any means. It is a small brightly painted fast food joint that is cheery but cluttered looking. I was left with a bad taste in my mouth seeing how dirty it was (we were hard pressed to find a clean table without crumbs and the floor could stand a good sweep). It was 2:00pm when we ate there and we were the only ones in the restaurant so I don't know why the counter staff couldn't do a quick clean up. I was also surprised how hard it was to find a table and chair set that didn't wobble, I think they all need to be screwed together tighter. We both had the mild crispy chicken sandwiches. A crispy chicken patty served on a white bun with tomatoes, cheese slice, onion and lettuce. It was OK at best. The bun tasted like it came from the freezer and the chicken lacked flavor. It might of been better in the spicy just so it wouldn't be so bland. The mayo was nothing to write home about and had no distinctive flavour to speak of. I was impressed with the quality of the lettuce and tomatoes, they were very fresh. It could of been better with brown bread and or a toasted bun. The grilled veggies came in a good sized portion (enough for 2 to share), the would of been great if they were fresh. They were hardly warm and dry on the edges. They make the food (veggies and chicken pieces) and keep it in a warming window (that must not work to well). So who knows how long it had been sitting out. for. The fries were basic fries, good enough and the warmest thing we had to eat. I'm not sure if it because it is new but the on line menu and what they offer are not the same, They offer more options on line like coleslaw but they don't have it at the store. They also don't have basic things like gravy, vinegar, salt and pepper. The ketchup packets are the smallest things every so every fourth or fifth fry you need a new packet. Honestly I would rather wait 10-15 minutes to get fresh food, rather then frozen buns and semi warm chicken and veggies that have been sitting in a window (that was wide open the whole time we were there) for quite some time read more
