5 stars times a million!!!…read more I was visiting my dad's for his birthday. I visited back in August and I'm still thinking about it. Before my flight back to California I needed one final southern meal (no good southern cookin on the west coast.) I am so happy I chose this place. First the staff, 10/5 stars!!! We didn't realize they were closing soon (about 30 minutes from the time of arrival) and showed up. The staff not only didn't even mention it but generously accommodated us! When we realized, we apologized and they were so kind and understanding. Now the food. WOW! So grateful I listened to my gut because I saved the best for last. We ordered a spread of food. Catfish, yams, fried chicken, collard greens, cobbler, etc. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Catfish was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Each bite almost made me cry tears of joy. Home cooked taste but from the friend/family member that can tear it up in the kitchen. You can taste the love, dedication and pride. The prices are worth it for the quality and quantity. The atmosphere was welcoming and chill. Definitely a good spot for a family dinner/lunch after church. Again staff were so warm and kind. Overall we had an amazing experience. If I lived closer it would absolutely be on my rotation. If you live nearby make it yours. You will not regret supporting this small business. I will be back as soon as I can!

The fried chicken is crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right every time. Their sweet tea is so good--definitely a must-have with your meal. My only critiques would be that I wish the yams had a deeper glaze and the mac & cheese was a bit more thoroughly baked, but the flavors are still solid overall. I always get my food to go, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are satisfying. If you're ordering a fried entrée, make sure to order ahead and allow about 15 minutes for them to finish frying--it's worth the wait.

I was expecting this to be a coffeehouse with food but this really is a food place that offers coffee. So temper your expectations if you plan to go specifically for the coffee. I ordered a lavender latte with about half the sweetness that it would normally be served with. The latte was extremely milky - no joke it had to be at least 96% milk. It was fine? Not great. Just tasted very much like lavender milk. Our food was hit and miss. The biscuits and gravy was a miss. It was a little gelatinous and on the thick side and we found the plating off-putting. (Served in a bowl filled to the brim.) While the pancake plate with an over medium egg and bacon was a winner. Everything here was cooked perfectly and the taste was great. I would recommend the cuisine part of Jay's but I wouldn't recommend the coffee based on my experience.

I arrived in 20 minutes and then waited another 15- 20minutes after having to ask twice about it. I watched as other orders were not right and tickets were missing. Finally I was given a box in a bag and I paid without checking first (my mistake). When I got in the car and looked it was a loaded cheeseburger and tater tots. I took it back in and returned it- the lady with shorter hair said "oh I bet that is his order". The lady cooking asked what I ordered and said she did not have a ticket, but could make it in 5 minutes- by that time I was sadly discouraged and told them no thank you. There is obviously a problem with order taking - so I guess I won't go back. Shame because I really enjoy their burgers. They did start saying they had to give me my money back, but I just walked away telling them I would not return

The dessert was probably my favorite part lol, I got ice cream with crumbled cookies and a little chocolate & caramel drizzle on top. The food wasn't horrible but for $24.99 I personally expected a lil more options and better quality. The atmosphere was decent and the staff was nice enough though. I'm not saying I'd never come back cause I probably would give it another try on a different day. Maybe I just caught them at an off time idk
