As an American, I feel we have good authority on knowing a good vs bad burger. However, exposure to quantity of burgers doesn't always mean they're QUALITY. Honest Burgers humbled me with their quality. This was the best burger I've had in recent memory. I want to say "of all time" because it might be. A picture is worth a thousand words so please check out my photos to see what I'm talking about. First, the attention to the bun was epic. Toasted root beer brown instead of just slapping some buns out of a bag together and calling it a day. Every bite reminded me someone took the time to toast the bread and it worked so well with the meat. Second, the smash patties were cooked so nicely that they had that brown fatty crusting on the edges that gave that familiar beef flavour. Perfectly salted. Now the third reason is they did the right thing with the cheese. They didn't just melt it - they melted and crisped it on the edges to complement those perfect patties. It was filling but I almost ordered a second burger, which I've never contemplated in my life before. To give credit to American burgers, I think this place studied American cuisine and found a way to make it better. The chopped onions and sliced pickles at the bottom of their burgers (delicious and in my photos) is reminiscent of the McDonald's formula, but gourmet. The rosemary chips (French fries) were seasoned nicely but, obvious from the photos, weren't the main attraction. I'd give the fries a 4 out of 5.
