When I first saw the Yelp entry for buffalo wings within walking distance of my office, I immediately began to obsess about when I could make the trip over. First time we went to scout out the location, it was closed because it was cold, miserable and raining (ah, the English springtime!) As soon as the weather started clearing up, I dragged my colleague (who incidentally is one of the world's biggest Nandos fans and has eaten at something like 2 dozen of its branches) back over to Brick Lane. We both had the lunch special special with the hot (I think it's 'woof woof' sauce). It is certainly hot sauce, I have a relatively high tolerance for spice but made pretty slow progress (great for clearing out the sinuses btw although between that and all the orange sauce over your face I'd recommend taking about half the kitchen roll provided). The lunch special includes 6 wings, onion rings or fries, blue cheese sauce, a few little sticks of celery and a drink. My colleague love the fries, the onion rings were standard (and by standard I mean delicious, as they are one of my favourite foodstuffs). Drink options are awesome - I had cream soda which comes in a pink can which I drank from a pink straw. I looked extremely serious and prepared for my afternoon's work arriving back in the office still drinking it. Aside from being hot, the woof woof sauce was a little sour for my tastes, I would get it again but would add some salt. I have since tried the original which is fine but not particularly exciting. I also sampled the next level up which immediately burnt a hole through my tongue down to my stomach. Colleague experienced same sensation (and he is a Nandos extra hot kind of guy). It's good value imo at 6 pounds for 8 wings, some celery sticks, and a blue cheese dip. You also get a choice of sauces of varied spice levels. I opted for the default level (one up from mild) Didn't think the wings themselves were anything special as such, but were nonetheless thoroughly enjoyable. These are definitely good buffalo wings. Fried to order so they're guaranteed still hot and crispy. They're also dunked in the sauce straight from the fryer (as opposed to sauce being poured on top after) so you get that awesome sauce on every inch of the wing. When Mike and Nick opened the Orange Buffalo, I thanked my lucky stars. Not only were there wings stupid good, but they were also consistent. "I didn't know that buffalo had wings." Well they don't. They're named after the city they were created in. Apparently they were invented in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY. They were so popular that they spread quickly across the United States and Canada. Neat, eh? As an American in the UK, you begin to crave things from back home: Burgers, Mexican food, American-style pizzas, fried chicken and, of course, buffalo wings. I fell in love with buffalo wings on my first trip to Hooter's while I was living Albuquerque (yes some of us DO go for the wings). Well when I saw The Orange Buffalo after leaving the Coffee Festival, I knew I needed to stop by and get some. It's a fairly simple menu. Mostly wings, but they also have a few sides: fries, curly fries and onion rings. I opted only for the eight pieces of wings. They come in four flavors: Original (medium), Woof-Woof (hot), Vincent (also hot, but apparently fruity) and Viper (extra hot). I was tempted to go for the viper, but you never know how hot hot is, so I thought it might be better to go a bit lower. They will let you sample the wing sauces, but I just went for it. They also have something called "Snake in a basket" which is seven original wings with one viper wing hidden inside. That sounded right up my alley, but I upgraded the original to woof-woof. All the wings come with tasty blue cheese dipping sauce (as they should, I'm anti-ranch) and celery. There's also a lunch special consisting of six wings, fries or onion rings and a drink for £6.50. What a deal! Anyway, the wings are amazing. The smell of cooking wings in the food truck wets your appetite, but it's just anticipation for the main event: the wings. The woof-woof sauce was tasty and could have been spicier for me (I like my wings spicy). However, has I'm eating them, I'm waiting in anticipation for the viper wing hiding somewhere in my pile of wings. Well my 6th wing was it. It didn't seem crazy hot while I was eating it, but after I was finished the fire in my mouth kept building. I definitely couldn't eat a whole order of them, but it was nice tasting one in the midst of my order. This is definitely the closest to real American food in the UK that I have found. I'll be back. Buffalo wings in London.. Who would've thunk it! We stumbled across this place while looking for artwork by the elusive Banksy in the Brick Lane/curry lane area. We got here a little past 8 (closing time) and were lucky that they had not shut down the fryers yet. The worker (I assume was the owner) welcomed us and said that we would be his last order. He explained that the only reason why he was still there was because he was pulling a double duty manning the 1's & 2's djing at the bar across the street in addition the the fryers at his food stand. Lucky timing for us I guess :). Even better for us we got 2 bonus wings! My buddy is a weakling when it comes to spice so we opted for half woof woof and the next spice level up (sorry I cant remember the name). Both sauces were very and a far cry apart from the typical butter and franks hot sauce that we are usually accustomed to at most joints. I was feeling rather adventurous so I asked to try the man gogh sauce. Man was this sauce awesome! It's like a spoonful of sugar followed by a kick in the balls.. The mango gives it a sweet initial taste that tricks your sensory organs that it's safe to eat then POW the fire from the peppers kick your teeth in and set your lips on fire! Thank God for the blue cheese sauce that the provide with the wings, if it wasn't for that I might have not had any lips left. Speaking of the blue cheese sauce, I was very impressed with it. Typically I prefer ranch dressing with my wings and I was a little perturbed that they didn't off any here however quickly forgot all about the ranch once I tasted the homemade blue cheese sauce. I may go out on a limb and say it's probably one of the best wing accouterments that I've ever had! The wings were good but this sauce was boss! Long story short I'm impressed with wings here. I wasn't planning to eat lunch yet, but The Orange Buffalo pulled me towards it with a force that I was unable to fight. If you want wings, this is where you need to go. Nick whips up some phenomenal sauce. My husband and I ordered the Snake in the Basket - one wing covered in Viper sauce hidden amongst others doused in Woof Woof - but it didn't work as intended. That is because the sauce was so good that ordered more Viper on the side and couldn't stop ourselves from dipping every bite into it. So delicious. read more

If you're looking for american-style buffalo wings, look no further! I found this place off of someone's blog who was looking for hot wings themselves, and let me tell you, they do not disappoint. I'm originally from California and I'm here in London studying for the semester, and the night of the Superbowl (American Football), I had a crisis. I really needed some legitimate hot wings. So far, anything that I got in London that claimed to be spicy, wasn't really at all. Here at the Orange Buffalo, they make all their hot sauces themselves. There's four spice levels: original, woof-woof, van-gogh, and viper. The person who helped me, Nick, was really nice and let me try all the sauces first. I don't really get the woof woof and van gogh names, but they do live up to their spice levels! I normally can handle really spicy, but the viper had me burning holes through my stomach. If you can handle spice, you should try that level for at least one of your wings.The wings are fresh. Nick fried them as I ordered and tossed them in my chosen sauce. As you bite into the wings, it makes you wanting more and more. Personally, I really liked the original and woof-woof (medium). The original was kind of there to help cool me down. The size of the wings are huge too. Even the bleu cheese dip and celery were a bonus. It's usually an after thought for me, but Nick said something about the dip being made from scratch too so I tried it. DELICIOUS! All in all, well done Orange Buffalo. Every time I get cravings for hot wings, I always head down here. It's only 6 pounds for 8 wings. Good deal. Old Spitalfields, Brick Lane, and Sunday Upmarket are here too so it's nice to go around there as well. Little tip: the address on yelp is not really where they are. The visit here definitely hit the spot if you are craving for that good ol' buffalo chicken wings. I came here around lunch time and so I got the lunch special of 6 wings+onion rings+can of drink and pieces of celery and blue cheese dressing on the side. Good deal I thought. Also, since it was my first at the Orange Buffalo, I was really unsure of their sauce will come out. "No Problemo" says the vendor. She gave me a sample to make it easier for me. Very nice and attentive of her. So, I have decided to get the woof woof as the mild sauce just did not giving me that good spicy "kick" to my buds. My not so healthy lunch left me satisfied. The chicken wings with the sauce and blue cheese was pretty darn good. It satiate my nostalgia for food from home. It was not runny/watery or too thick in fact it was really just right consistency. The wings itself were good "American" size with good amount of meat of fill up your empty stomach. In addition, the onion rings did not disappoint either. One of the best buffalo sauces I've tasted, and some really great flavourful wings. The first time I ate here the wings were a little dry/overcooked, but I tried them again the other night and WOW. Incredible. The blue cheese sauce compliments them perfectly, and I'd be hard pressed to find better American wings in London (other than perhaps The Hard Rock) They are very reasonably priced at around £6, they were served hot and fast, and the takeaway pot travels well; after surviving a pretty lengthy journey home on London transport the wings were still hot and super tasty. Hmmm.... not quite sure what to say about these... I was walking towards Brick Lane on my way to Beigal Bake, when I saw the Mother Clucker Truck. Feeling hungry, I headed over wanting to get some of their chicken (on previous occasions, it's been great). However, being about 5pm, they had run out so I was trying to decide between the other trucks. A quick check on Yelp and I selected the Orange Buffalo. Ordering 8 Woof Woof wings, and some curly fries, I waited for them to be cooked. I noticed that the wings are already fried before going into the fryer a second time, and I got a little worried that they would be overdone. However they soon came out and were tossed in the sauce and delivered to me with a separate portion of curley fries. The good bits. The curly fries are great, and go well with the blue cheese sauce. The seasoning on it is really tasty. The Woof Woof sauce is similarly good, spicy but not blow your head off - it's listed as a 'hot' sauce. Blue Cheese sauce, perheaps a little chunky for my taste but has a great hit of blue, something the sometimes lacking. The bad Queuing - Not sure what the hold up was, but we were waiting for a long time. When we were lining up, it looked like they were preparing just one order at a time. They would only lay out a couple of cardboard trays at a time, one for wings, one for fries. I think it was only after the queue built up that they started doing more than one at a time. At least they fixed this though. My wings were a little dry, and to be honest, overfried. Buffalo wings I've had before have been relatively easy to strip, but in this case they really needed teeth to get them off of the bone. However, I may have just got a bad batch, the guy who had ordered before me seemed to have a much easier time with them. The flavour was good though, not sure if the wings are marinated before or not. Price was £6 for 8 wings, and £2.50 for the fries, and you leave full. No one does deep fried chicken wings slathered in spicy buffalo sauce like us Americans but hey... the English gave it their best shot with this food truck and I'll be damned, I'm mighty impressed. Now, I've been to Anchor Bar and to be fair nothing quite compares to the original something must be said about being able to recreate that kind of finger-licking satisfaction in a food truck when some people can't even get it right in a fully-stocked kitchen. I stumbled here when I came looking for the Mother Clucker van at Old Truman Brewery and decided that hell... I could eat both, right? The wings were slow to come out so the line built up pretty quickly. Not daring venture to the really spicy kind, I ordered the Woof Woof (? Crap, I can't remember the ridiculous names) sauce which I believe is the original Buffalo sauce, because hell... I'm a boring eater. I tried the Vincent, and though I'm not really a big fan of sweet and spicy, did it carry some heat but was definitely not my cup of tea. The wings were crisp and delicious with loads of flavor and the blue cheese dipping sauce came as a surprise because I genuinely didn't think they would have it (for some strange reason). Ultimately, what it came down to was the satisfying (and currently mouth-watering) crunch the outside of the wings gave me when I bit into them. The buffalo sauce could've been spicier for me but I can't really complain, I'm not sure that the British are ones to eat things with a significant amount of heat to them (gotta cater to your demographics). Also as an American living in London, these are SOLID Buffalo Wings. Good chicken, cooked well, and great sauces. Start with the Woof Woof if you're unsure on the spice and work your way up in future visits. The Blue Cheese sauce isn't too intense and quite lovely. But to be honest the thing that keeps me coming back are the CURLY FRIES! Oh dear lord thank you for making these, they are the best and really amazing. In fact I believe you get 8 wings with your order and I always seem to get a few extra wings, so great value! TRY THE VINCENT SAUCE! It's not mentioned enough in other reviews, and it's incredible. Amazing wings, in a city where even decent wings are hard to find. I drop by here every time I'm in London for a weekend and get some Vincent-slathered wings. The Vincent sauce is quite hot but also full of mango, which is a great mix! Try before you buy though, because the sauces are seriously spicy and I've found that the spiciness levels can vary from month to month. Simply the best we have had in London. We were lucky to hit it on a sunny afternoon as it would be a bad experience in the rain as there is no covered seating. This is the real deal folks. You can get 8 chicken wings as a meal, pick up how spicy you want them or play a dangerous game of having 7 normal or mild ones and one of the spiciest options - the viper. I strongly discourage you from doing that. I am a spice lover but when I took my first bite of the viper wing, I nearly cried. The curly fries are the simply phenomenal, served with home made blue cheese sauce. i've been eyeing this place up ever since it opened. i have only discovered this year how much i love chicken wings, but i have more than made up for missing out most of my life and have consumed a vast quantity over the last 12 months. i ordered the vincent man gogh cos i love hot and i love mango so this sounded like the greatest combination for me. i can handle spicy, but maaaaaan this was hot - but still flavourful and absolutely delicious. my friends that were with me ordered the original and said they still had a sweet tang to it. the wings were £6 for 8 which is a plentiful portion, and come with a lovely blue cheese dressing and celery (ick! could the celery be subsituted for cucumber for those who are not that way inclined? celery is the spawn of the devil!!) i will definitely be back! read more

This was in the middle of a yard where there are many other places to eat. They have some tables and it was sunny out so it was quite lovely. Food was served quick and hot, I got the lunch deal for £7.50. I had 8 buffalo wings, chips with blue cheese sauce and celery sticks, and a cream soda - big serving! All of it was very tasty and well seasoned. I have never had new york style buffalo wings and it was a strange experience. The smell and taste of the buffalo sauce is different to anything I have tried and though it tasted good, it's not my favourite. Chicken was crispy and tender and the chips were great with the sauce. I tried this place a year ago and was disappointed. The sauce was thin and lacked the vinegary kick of real buffalo wings. Tried it again last week and was pleasantly surprised. Sauce looks and tastes completely different. Huge improvement. The woof woof sauce isn't franks red hot but it is pretty tasty. Also the service was very nice. They gave me some extra wings because they were smaller than normal. I remove one star from perfect because they are a little slow and stingy with the celery sticks.
