It's hard for me to knock food spots. This really has the potential, it really does. Plentiful from chicken, seafood, american. I ordered the Trio. Came with Fish, shrimp and small buffalo wings. I did like the popcorn shrimp that came with his bunch. The wings were ok, not great. All of it needed more flavor. Added some hot sauce to them. Just discovered Chicken King a few months ago. The Grilled Chicken Salad and Greek Salad are great. The chicken is grilled with Greek seasoning. The Gyro was excellent, and I really like the Chicken Pita! Remember to spring for the Tzatziki (cha-cheeky) sauce! It's fantastic! The fries that accompany most orders are your typical crinkle cuts with a little bit of seasoning on them. They are nothing to write home about but they are usually hot. I see a lot of folks ordering wings, fried chicken, and the fish plate here, but I haven't worked my way through all of the menu yet. The building is an old gas station that has been painted bright orange on the outside. There is not much sit-in ambiance but it is good place to grab something hot, fast, and tasty. As a previous reviewer said, this place has potential. Especially being right next to the Fuse district. The customer service is pretty terrible to be honest. We placed our order over the phone - and one of my friends tried to order a 2 piece meal with a breast and thigh and was told "We don't do that." My friend offered to pay extra for the thigh, and was told "No." He then offered to purchase a thigh in addition to a regular 2-piece meal, and was again told "No." In what universe do you tell a customer no when they are trying to pay for a product you sell? I have visited this greasy spoon on several occasions in west Gastonia, NC. Last time I was there I almost fell down from all the grease on the vinyl flooring when I received my togo order for calabash shrimp and when I got it home, the shrimp was soggy with grease and under cooked. The manger was rude and talked about me before I entered the door. Then after I paid in advance he ordered me to repark my truck even though there was no other customer there and there was parking on both sides of me. Do not waste your money. You will regret it. I visited this establishment for the first time two weeks ago. Very little seating and not the nicest decor, but who cares. The food was awesome. I ordered the tilapia plate and I couldn't eat it right away because it was smoking hot! The fish was so good. The coleslaw taste like KFC's, hush puppies and fries were good also. Needless to say I came back two days later for the same items, but this time I bought my bff with me and she had the catfish plate. After finally taking a breather from eating she said it was awesome! Your typical average fried chicken spot. I placed my order over the phone due to the Covid 19 restrictions for takeout only. I personally got the chicken filet that comes with fries. The food like I said , is average. The fries and breading for the chicken could be crispier and overall more seasoned. The customer service I received over the phone was terrible. I asked a simple question. I just wanted to know if they had a spicy version for the chicken filet and she was very rude and told me to look online for the menu. As I continued to place my order, she got impatient and proceeded with her rude replies. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because when I got there to pick up the food, there was only two hispanic ladies packing orders, ringing up, and taking phone calls. When I was rung up for my pick up order, the cashier instantly knew who I was from the phone order, she gave me rude looks, then proceeded to talk in spanish about me to her coworker. My boyfriend who was with me, is Mexican and immediately told me the insults she was implying. I'm not happy about the customer service. I am manager in the restaurant industry so I completely understand being understaffed but I would never allow my employees to act / talk to customers in that manner under ANY circumstances. Recently visited Chicken King(12-14-19) with my mother and sister. We have gone to the establishment on numerous occasions. As always we ordered 6-pc chicken mini drum/wing meal. Decided upon dessert and ordered banana pudding. Took first bite and perhaps still had taste of chicken lingering on taste buds. Took a bite of the cool whipped topping and then another bite of the pudding. Immediately knew something was not right. Jumped up and went into kitchen to get paper towel to spit into. Banana pudding had spoiled and soured. At that point felt like I was going to vomit. Called establishment and was told by an employee there("not surprised") that he mixes them up all together...when he goes and get new ones and then places them all back in fridge to sell to unsuspecting patrons. Don't know about you but that is no way to treat customers. He simply "DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU." His bottom line is his DOLLAR. Took pudding back up there to simply let him smell it. His face said it all. He had enough nerve to say "he purchased it from another vendor." Not acknowledging at all his responsibility in the matter. For that reason he was reported to Health Department(Environmental Division). Please do the same. We deserve more than him when it comes to where we spend our hard-earned money. When I arrived at the establishment, I tried to explain to the owner (I suppose) that the one order was told to me incorrectly so would he please change it for me.
