There a a few Chicken King locations in Charlotte, but I happen to feel that this one is the best! There is ample free parking in the front. You walk up to the window and place your order. Tina took my order and she was very helpful with suggestions for my selection. She insisted that I would like the shrimp and she was right! You can go back to your car or you can wait outside for your food to be ready. Tgere us no inside dining. I have to say it was relatively affordable and more food than could eat! The fries were crinkle fries and they had just a little salt, enough to make them tasty. The coleslaw I may not order again, but that's just my personal preference- I love a chunky coleslaw, and this one was finely minced. The oysters were slightly overcooked, but they were lightly breaded and delicious. The Jumbo shrimp, also lightly breaded was what Tina said they would be and I enjoyed them. My flounder was the star of the show! They were bigger pieces than I am used to getting and they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I usually come to Chicken King on West Boulevard because I really like their food, but the customer service SUCKS! I called to ask about menu prices because I only had a certain amount of money to spend and did not have the menu in front of me. After asking about three items, the MAN answering the phone became rude, hung up on me, and when I called back, he said, "I'm not going to go over the menu with you. You can come in. I don't have time for that." I wasn't asking for the entire menu--just a few prices so I could decide what I could afford before making the trip. There was no reason to be disrespectful or hang up on a customer. Good food is important, but good customer service matters too. I hope management addresses this because I've enjoyed coming here in the past, but experiences like this make me think twice about returning. read more

I've never had a bad meal from Chicken King. I usually go to the West Blvd. location or the one off S. Tryon. I've had the fried chicken, cheesesteak, grilled chicken sandwich, and ribeye sandwich. All have been delicious. Both the ribeye and chicken sandwich come with lettuce and tomato and I believe mayo. The staff is super nice and the West Blvd. location allowed my friend to shoot a music video in their parking lot. This location has by far the worst customer service. The one lady running the front is very loud and rude. I wanted a salad with romaine lettuce (who even eats iceberg), and they were arguing back forth with me over the salad. I simply asked for romaine lettuce or a refund. I wasn't paying $12 for an iceberg lettuce salad. The lady told me that my co-worker had to drive up to the restaurant to get a refund since she was the one that placed the order. Why would someone that is at work leave work to come and get a refund, when I was already standing right there? If you want good service and a romaine lettuce salad please visit the location on Nations Ford. My co-worker went to get lunch today, and they refused to service her. Absolutely the BEST chicken I have ever ate! Oh my the flavors. I stopped in because it is close to work and others had talked about the food. Man this place did not disappoint. Tons of chicken on a bed of fresh lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. Delicious ranch (I recommend getting an extra dressing as you will need it for all that food!). When I took back to work I had staff coming to my office...they said the whole floor smelled so good from the chicken. I recommend you go and get some today! read more

I just moved to the neighborhood, and I there is no fast food with in walking distance of the place i moved to, and I have no car, and one of my neighbors told me they had great food there, Well my family and I being very hungry one night, and not having a way to the grocery store until in the morning, we decided to go here, now I cant say much about there chicken, but we ordered a cheeseburger and large fry, and OMG, it was delicious!! I have now been to 3 of these locations and this one is by far my favorite. Although the building is small and the seating is limited the food is amazing and fast. The Philly, made on soft local bread with just a touch of toasting, means you can enjoy your Philly without wearing it. I highly recommend you make them your 'spot' to pick up dinner that you don't want to cook. Be sure to call ahead to avoid a delay. The whole family will be happy. read more

I ordered the flounder dinner. Generous portions.My meal was delicious. It came with the fish, cole slaw, french fries, and hush puppies. The only thing working against them is the appearance of the establishment, it looks a bit tattered but the food makes up for it. Stopped by this location after having a bad experience at a different location. Place was busy. Lots of customers waiting for orders. Take out place. Only a few stools to sit on while you wait. There is one table with chairs, but it was designated "For employees only". Ordered the fried croaker dinner. A ton of food! Two huge pieces of croaker with fries, slaw, hush puppies and tarter sauce. Around 8 dollars and enough food for two people (unless you have a really big appetite). The tarter sauce was okay, a little too onion-y for me, but I like mine sweet. The fries were hot and crispy.They have a big container of seasoned salt to shake onto them. Also, hot sauce, salt and pepper, and ketchup.I say this because you need to open your order and add these things before you leave the restaurant. They don't bother with those fancy little ketchup packets and salt and pepper and whatnot. The hushpuppies were delicious! But the star of the meal was the fried croaker itself. Fried to crispy perfection! It was so hot I couldn't wait to eat it and almost burned my tongue. It tasted fresh and a tad salty, but not too salty. Wish this place was closer to my house!
