The chicken tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for several hours. I ordered the 8 piece mixed "chicken only " at the intercom and asked for at least 2 legs. There seemed to be a little confusion so when I got to the window, I again asked the gentleman if they understood what I was wanting. He assured me that the 8 piece consisted of 2 legs, 2 breast, 2 wings and 2 thighs. As fate would have it I drove home across town only to find out that I had 4 wings, 2 breast and 2 thighs. I am so tired of going to this Chicken Express and ordering a THREE piece chicken dinner and getting home, which is 85 miles away, opening my box and finding TWO pieces of chicken. The employee even asked me specifically whether I wanted TWO thighs and ONE leg or TWO legs and ONE thigh. I asked for the former and got the thighs but no leg. The receipt SHOWS (2) THIGHS LEG. I love their chicken but it's like this is the way for them to make an extra profit because they know that TO GO orders may result in the customer not coming back. I usually take the time to check my order before leaving but was in a hurry today and didn't do so. That's my mistake, especially with this being a recurring issue there. Have been a customer for several years. Tonight's experience was the worst! Took 50 minutes to get our small order, which they got wrong. Girl working the window gave me our drink order, took my money and then went and sat down to play on her phone. After several minutes I ended up knocking on the window to get their attention. There were three orders bagged to be given out but nobody working the window properly. Spoke with the manager who said they were short staffed, she complained that they needed more help but owners would not hire more. Will not be back. read more

The lady in the drive through at 6pm was not good at her job. I waited to take my order for 5 minutes. I understand if it was busy, but 1) it wasn't and 2) the lady never greeted me and asked me to wait a moment. Instead, I had to say "hello chicken express person" Multiple times for 5 minutes until she felt like answering me. When I ordered, I specifically said I wanted a 12 piece of chicken strips 3 times, but then received chicken with bones. I wouldn't have been as upset about the chicken if the lady that I was ordering from was better. read more

Ordered a #1 4 tenders, mashed potatoes with gravy and okra. Ask for a extra gravy. Got home with 2 gravies no potatoes and overcooked okra. Chicken was good but dripping in grease. Second order was 2 piece fish combo with roll and orka . Fish was over cooked to the point of extra hard and so was the orka. It all got thrown out for the cats as it was not edible. I have called the stote 3 times and 2 times they did not answer at all and the other time they picked the phone up and hung up. There was a steady stream of cars in line. So you have the interest in your product. Why does it take so long to get an order of chicken tenders and dark chicken order. The okra was over cooked and drenched in oil. Green beans over cooked. The chicken tenders are always good and tasty. We like the product. Your food is excellent, but after our bad experience few weeks ago, my husband and I decided not to go to this place anymore. It was a rainy day and my husband decided to go inside to get our dinner. I decided to stay inside the pick up and wait. After about 20 minutes I started to wonder if my husband was okay since he is diabetic and has other problems. I have left my cell phone at the house that's why I was no able to call him. After 40 minutes I decided to go inside the store hopping that my husband was okay. He was upset waiting for his order. I asked him was going on? He said " never mind, just don't say anything." About 3 minutes later we got the order. The clerk din't even apologized for the waiting. On my most recent adventure to this particular Chicken Express, I encountered a staff which only had the vaguest interest in my presence, and even less interest in getting my money. Upon walking in, I had enough time to learn an entire form of martial arts and conversational fluency in a second language before any employee noticed there were guests in the lobby. It was over an hour before closing time, the chairs were stacked on the tables, and the soda tower was broken down. As if these subtle hints to go the heck away weren't enough, the employees with whom we interacted simply didn't give a crap. If they wish to have me return (which remains only a remote possibility), Chicken Express will have to seriously up their game on customer service. read more

At first, I didn't like the food (and I ordered just about everything on the menu), but then I started dipping in the gravy. The gravy save/makes everything better. Also, the wings, for a fast-food 'ish' place are great. Honestly, they're the best tasting wings I've had in San Angelo. ....and they're straight from the freezer to the fryer (assumption). This chicken joint gets worse and worse with each visit. Scratch this place off my list of restaurants. There is always something wrong with the help, the order and the chicken. The staff is more interested in their cell phone conversations than with the customer. This past weekend went thru drive thru and ordered 8 piece Family Meal. Got home and opened box of chicken and found 2 breasts, one extremely small leg and 5 wings. Really?!? This is what you're calling a family meal. Normally a great place for fried fish as well. Last visit on 02/21/20 it was like a new bad owner had taken over. Rude order taker at drive in that couldn't speak clearly and evidently understand either considering all the things wrong with our order. We ordered a 2 piece and a 3 piece dinner and received only 2 piece dinners so charged an extra 2 bucks for nothing. French fries instead of mash potatoes. Okra was corn nuggets. Specifically asked for all cocktail sauce NO tarter sauce. Received all tarter sauce. That made me stop and go in. Explained to counter person and she's like I interrupted her. (I waited my turn). Her words were What do you want me to do about it? I just got cocktail sauce and didn't want to wait another 15 minutes for one piece of fish and have 2 cold dinners. We love Chicken Express. I'm giving you four stars for this visit because the employee who took my to go order had a great attitude and smile. I got my order quickly. The downside was when we got home our orders of mashed potatoes and gravy had maybe 1/2 tsp of gravy. The same thing happened two weeks ago (and my visit then was less than acceptable). We've gotten the mashed potatoes and gravy many times before and you didn't skimp on the gravy. Hope this is corrected on future visits. read more
