Have to agree with other reviewers regarding this location. We love Chicken Express when they get it right but the Rowlett store has severe customer service issues. Our past three visits have been at various times of day, but mostly around noon to 2:00 pm. In each case, we have been asked to pull over and wait for our order, sometimes 15 - 20 minutes. One time chicken livers were ordered and they should have mentioned they took longer, if that was the case. The other two times were chicken tenders only, so having trouble understanding why the wait, especially on a time of day day they know they will be busy and should have some product fresh & ready to go quickly. While Rowlett is not right down the street from us, the next closest store is farther than we really want to drive so we're looking forward to a new Golden Chick that is being opened just down the street from us in Garland soon. Hope they can match the quality & service we came to expect at CE. read more

Should have tipped the staff. Went in and ordered a #1 but i only wanted the tenders. After changing my order, and a bunch of manager fix, they got me taken care of...super proud of the customer service at this fast food spot. Very uncommon. read more

Good hot chicken...excellent curbside customer service. Fairly consistant. Nothing outstanding - long wait times.

Walked in to use the restroom and grab a sweet tea and a roll. Wasn't really busy but the lady at the front was super slow and carrying on a conversation as if I hadn't been standing there for at least 5 min while the ladies in front of me took their time ordering. I thought when she was done I was getting serviced. Nope instead she walked over to another table to talk to the women that still hadn't received their order so I walked out. This was a much better Place under the previous Owner. 1st, they no longer have Senior Discounts. That is a bit rough if on a fixed Income. I think I will go to the CE on LBJ in Garland from now on. Then, when I tell them I want the Chicken that just came out of the Fryer, because I have to drive for another 30 minutes to get to my destination so as to eat; they ignore that request and just put in what is there under the Hot Lights. read more

Chicken Express's regular chicken is normally pretty good.. However this one time I decided to try the chicken wings!! They were horrible first the color was nothing like the regular chicken which ok if you say they are fried hot wings I understand... Second it's like someone mixed hot sauce and flour to make this special batter which made them taste horrible!! These are the worst fried wings I have ever had in my life!! If I could give less than 1 star I would. I went through the drive thru with my mom to get something to drink (two sweet teas). It took 15 minutes for us to get out of the drive thru with one car ahead of us. When we got to the window, it took the cashier a good 5 minutes to acknowledge we were there and take our money and the another 10 minutes to get our drinks and have her take back her clip board worth the signed receipt. The whole time she kept her back to us while she chatted with another worker by the window. I got home and called to let a manager know because obviously there is room for improving customer service and the manager (Cindy) was VERY rude and sarcastic. When I told her about the wait and lack of attention she responded "well hun it IS a Sunday and it IS lunch rush" (Really? There was one other car in line and no customers inside.) When I told her that I wasn't looking to get a refund or anything she got even more sarcastic and basically told me that it wasn't her problem. I've been in the service industry the whole time I've been in the work force and I have never witnessed such horrible customer service and I have never seen a manager speak in such a way to a paying customer. What could have easily been a little feedback and improvement for the cashier turned into them losing (what appears to be, based on other reviews I've read) another customer. Ya know, you would think a chicken place would have chicken breast at peak times of the day, such as dinner. I went in at 5:30 and ordered 3 breast... the girl says we only have 2 , but we can cook more. Ok, I'll get 3 hot breast. It will take 15 minutes i said no problem. 15 minutes roll around and a man comes and says it will be about 10 more minutes the cook just started cooking yours. I said they should already be finished. Someone else got those. Really? I've been waiting and you gave them to someone else. I waited till 6:05 and they said we have 2, can we give you something else? Yeah my money back! That's 30 minutes wasted and still no dinner! Won't go back! read more

Very slow service and very bad customer service. We got the wrong order and didn't realize till we got home so we called they asked us to bring it back with the receipt and made us wait another 30 minutes for our order and the manager and workers are very rude. read more

It is Friday night of lent... I'll give them that. They were very busy frying fish. I have always gone to the Wylie Chicken Express. Basically a weekly staple...but, this week somebody doesn't know the difference between a gizzard and a liver and someone watered down the mac and cheese. Went back after vowing not too, had to wait for food as always, I double checked the order and of course it was wrong, had to wait again to get the original order fixed... Where to begin how about the 30+ min wait for two combo #1's one with mashed potatoes the other with fries family side of corn nuggets and two extra sweet teas! Did it stop at just overly excessive wait for a non complex order nope get home to find out they gave me someone else's order absolutely absurd! Worst drive through experience in quite a while. And what's with high turn over rate of employees is the owner a #*%' and that's why we're subjected to sub par service because they can't keep a decent person hired on? The owner's wife couldn't wait to talk about me to her cashier while I was there. I even asked her to at least wait until I am gone before whispering about me. I get it people talk about people but have the decency to wait until the person is gone because it just makes you rude. Or better yet include the person in the conversation because I am standing there anyway. If the owners treats you like that I can only imagine how the employee will treat the customers. They were more concerned with the drive through than with people waiting inside. there was one girl that was so concerned with how neatly the chicken was arranged she was so slow...We ordered at 8:10 at 8:39 we were finally walking out the door. I will NEVER recommend this location and NEVER visit this one again either. If you want good service that is fast and courteous go out of your way to visit the Sachse Chicken Express ... they could teach the Rowlett location a trick or two. read more

Wowza chicken express is awesome...most of the time. When there is no "adult" there they can't get their stuff together. But the other 90% of the time there is no issue. The food comes out perfect, as does the amazing sweet tea. I highly reccomend them over kfc, popeyes, and Williams chicken anyday. read more

Never again. Every chance I gave them was wasted. They rip me off every time!! I order a 12 piece, I go home to a 7 piece. I order three meals, get home with two meals. I shouldnt have to take inventory before I leave a drive thru line. The food always tastes right but the service isn't worth it. It appears to be managed and ran by high school kids. read more

If I could give this place -5 stars... I would. I am completely & utterly DISGUSTED by the management here! An employee dropped chicken tenders ALL over the floor & when they were getting ready to throw them away, the manager confronted the employee and said "What are you doing? Just clean them off with water and throw them back in the fryer. Don't waste product like that." SERIOUSLY CHICKEN EXPRESS? You serve your customers germ infested poultry??? When I asked the employee if they were serving me fresh chicken or tenders that have touched the floor, they basically told me that they couldn't confirm or deny the question. I've never written a bad review before, but this one is well deserved. I've been eating at this location for years, but within the past few months, it seems like it just nose dived. In the past, they've given us the wrong order, or just forgotten items. I got over it, and fixed it myself. But this experience I had today, makes me want to never even look at a Chicken Express again. We just waited over 10 minutes for an order of mashed potatoes, 2 cheese sticks, and three rolls. Pretty simple order right? We got to the window, a little annoyed that it had taken so long, when they usually bring small orders out to you so you don't have to wait. This has been the standard at every Chicken Express I've been to. My order was $6.22, I got my receipt where the tip was already added in, in the amount of $6.22 making my total order $12.44.... That obviously isn't right. So the employee calls the manager over, and that's when the real fun began. (I asked the employee after everything that happened what the manager's name was, it's Cindy) Cindy was totally incompetent. In the middle of me asking for silverware, and napkins (because I didn't receive any) she screamed "OH MY GOD" and the window slammed. We could hear her talking to her employee (very unprofessional) through the window. I had to wait a longer amount of time to receive the things I tried to ask for before I was RUDELY interrupted. My account was charged several times when she told me the charge should have fallen off.. I called her to let her know that it had still not fallen off, and my bank account still shows being charged multiple times. This woman screamed over me on the phone, repeating the same ridiculous stuff (I would be in the middle of talking, and she would just start screaming over me, I literally had to ask her to please grow up, and asked if this is the way a manager should talk to a customer). The way she acted made my boyfriend laugh because WHO TALKS TO A GUEST LIKE THAT?? I asked for a higher up manager, to which she informed me she was the owner. There has to be someone higher up than her, if not then I feel TERRIBLE for the employees working under her. You can tell they're super stressed because of their crappy micros system, and obviously POOR management. Chicken Express, DO BETTER. I have been in the service industry for a very long time, and never IN MY LIFE would I speak to a guest at my establishment the way Cindy did. I will not be returning to this location, and I'll advise everyone I know to do the same. If any higher ups from Chicken Express see this, please feel free to reach out. I understand every restaurant has an off day. This one apparently only has off days. After they reopened my husband got lunch and it was cold (at lunch right after they opened .) Tonight we went through the drive through and they didn't give us our sides. Very disappointing! Maybe they need to remodel their staff. As a previous employee, I can say, that even with the 50% off employee discount I received, I never actually ate a full meal here, only tried everything once to my disgust. Our employees regularly drop tenders and bone on the ground, but are told by management to rinse off them and serve them anyway. Not to mention the field mice we never paid an exterminator for, but instead put traps that would violently kill the mice inside and outside the fast food restaurant walls. But that didn't stop the vermin, they still regularly ate into the sugar, instant mashed potatoes, and sauce packets. But again, aside from unbaited traps, we did nothing to slow them down. Previously I did not speak out, for fear of punishment, but now that I have moved on to another job, I can finally explain why I always brought my own food. read more

This is not fast food -- the last four times I've gone, there has been a 15-20 minute wait for chicken breasts. So today (when told chicken breasts wouldn't be ready for 15 minutes), I mentioned the wait times to the woman who manages and/or owns the place and she looked at me with this blank smile and said something about how some days everybody ordered the same thing. If I believed in coincidence, maybe that might have played. Since I didn't really have 15 minutes to burn, I asked if they had chicken tenders ready. Yes! I ordered the combo with okra and then got to wait 10 minutes for the okra. Having plenty of time to watch, I saw they had massive amounts of tenders and a couple of chicken wings -- everything else was being cooked to order. To sum it up, the food is always good if you have time to wait for what you want instead of what they have. Otherwise, there are several other locations for Chicken Express and a lot of other fast food choices (that are really fast) right around that particular corner. read more

Ok, I've been Rowlett resident for many years. Chicken Express has been known as pretty good place in town to get some fried chicken. However the owners of that place really suck when it comes to customer service. For example I stopped by there to pick up a box of chicken for my family. I ordered an extra side of family fries. I drove all the way home. And the fries were missing. Thought I would call the owner/manager and let her know. She replies "I'm sorry if I could drive over to your house and bring them, I would. But since I'm busy here. I can't." I was shocked by her response, because no one ever mentioned driving to my house. She promised me an order of family fries next time I came in. I never asked for them. However the other night I was grocery shopping at Walmart and decided to pick up some fried chicken to take home. When i arrived it was around 8:30 pm. There was no one in the restaurant and no one in the drive thru. I walked in and saw a couple of the employees eating or taking a break. There about 3 young kids talking behind the register. I placed my order, and all of sudden there were other customers that came in after me. The kid behind the register starts chit-chatting with them. And then he takes their order and gives them their sweet tea. And then another customer came in and order her food. And he is chit-chatting with her. Meanwhile, no one is preparing my order. The two kids working the windows are getting orders out. And I'm waiting. The owner and his wife come out the back office and clearly he's chewing on some food. And his wife is walking around with a drinking cup in her hand and I have a pissed off look on my face. But I never complained. She walks up to the counter and asks. "What are you waiting on?" I reply, "my order." She then says " duh, I know you have an order." I told her that I had been waiting there awhile and no one was preparing my order. Then she asked me how long had I been waiting. I told I didn't know but clearly my order was being made. I told her, "look I'm not complaining. I just want my order and I want to go home." She proceed to tell we'll it's the look on your face. REALLY???? It's the look of an unhappy customer you stupid (blank- I won't cuss). Anyway I will never go back. I'll drive to Rockwall or Garland if I want fried chicken. read more
