This is what Chicken Express is supposed to be. The tenders are perfect, light and delicious. The rolls are hot, soft, and sweet...plus they give you two. The sweet tea is exactly what you've come to expect from Chicken E. The employees don't really seem to care to be at work, but they're polite enough and the service is quick. I give this place 5 stars for food and 1 star for service. Although it is becoming a stereotype in fast food businesses, the low quality of the help is difficult to overcome in any fast food restaurant. Their chicken strips are excellent, both regular and extra spicy, and their old fashioned Southern sweet tea will definitely snap your eyes open as I swear I can feel my arteries harden just thinking about it. This is why I have been a steady customer for YEARS. Unfortunately, they have finally gone too far. On my last visit, I was told that I would have to pay an added fee for sauce packets when I order a family size (20 or 30 piece) meal. I understand about the economy and the fact supplies are becoming more expensive, but if it costs 10% more to make my order, bill me 10% more up front. DO NOT nickel and dime me with surcharges. If I order pizza I refuse to allow them to bill me extra for parm cheese, or crushed pepper. If I buy a burger and fries I do not allow them to bill me extra for the condiments like mustard or catsup. If they have to raise a price to cover my meal, then just be up front and quit hitting me with side fees. read more

I haven't been here in a long time. I left the area in 2019 and returned recently. My nephew was jonesin for CExpress and I was like really?! It was so bad when I was last there in 2019. I drive a M/C so had to go inside to order. There seems to be some big changes. I was 2/5/22 around 1-2pm. Everything was so clean, staff was polite, and food was spot on. I spoke with the shift manager to let her know how pleased I was and she stated it was new ownership and new staff. Whoever turned this place around needs to write an S. O. P. on how they did it. They threw breading in there. Then they renovated the building and since that point, it has gone down in quality and service. We wondered if they changed management. Orders have been wrong the last three times we were there. I was taking care of my mumzies as she was in the hospital recently, and for lunch they brought her catfish. Obviously the hospital food itself didn't entice me, but the idea of catfish did. It's been awhile since I've had some fried fish lovin'. Cue Chicken Express. Mumzies recommended their catfish highly, and hell, she gave birth to me so she knows what she's doing when it comes to awesome things. Daaayuuummm. That catfish was the bee's knees. I got the 3 piece combo (which actually showed up with 4 pieces, which my mom says happens all the time- sweeeeet) with one side and hush puppies or a roll. Sticking to the fish theme, I rocked the hushpups, and I chose fried okra for my side (no mac, unfortunately). Again, daaayyyummm. Those be some good hushpups. Crispy on the outside, soft inside and a nice hint of jalapeno. The fish was fried perfectly. It fell apart on my fork everytime I tried to pick it up, it was so damn flakey!!! I just wanted to say great service today at Chicken Express. The customer service was very exceptional. The worker that served us was very caring and even apologized for the time it took to get our food which I thought was was a reasonable wait time considering how much we ordered. The only reason it's not five stars is because the ordering machine has not been fixed and I don't think it's fair to have your workers out in 25 degree weather to serve the customers. After placing my order through the drive-thru I noticed cars behind me were getting their order so after 10 minutes I ask the rude ass guy that works there how much longer will it be and he says I don't know. I waiting 20 minutes in line for cold chicken cold fries and not a single dipping sauce that I requested. An individual who went by the name of Josh told my wife we got your name and number bitch. He also told her it was in her best interest to stop calling store. I go to this place often. I went last week (this is long over due it's been months since this happened) and to my embarrassment my credit card was declined. So, I gave the guy my other card to try and also got declined. I was so embarrassed! I realized my cards were expired and I had my current cards at home. I told the guy I'll be back but he said to hold on and was talking to someone in the back. He came back with my food and said it's taken care of, him and the crew pitched in to pay for my food. Have you ever? I said I'll come back to pay for it but he said it was fine, that was their good deed for the day. I was surprised and speechless, things like this don't happen to me. I visited the E. Davis Blvd. location in Mesquite on a Sunday afternoon & was surprised that there were no employees taking orders out by the drive-thru lane as usual. When I got to the speaker, there was a sign on the menu board saying they were out of fried pickles, corn nuggets & one other item on a day when many people are getting out of church & typically buy chicken for their Sunday lunch. I ordered the 20-pc. regular tenders with rolls & after driving all the way home, realized there was no gravy in our sack. I called the restaurant & was told they had a shortage of workers that day & that was the reason it was excluded from our order. The worker told me I could come back up there & get some. When I went in, I was handed a drink container & one individual serving of gravy & was told they ran out of their usual containers. Not sure what was going on with management, worker's schedules, etc. but it was a very frustrating & disappointing experience especially for my family who were waiting to eat lunch until I got back with the gravy! read more

I'm a breast cancer patient and cannot drive because of the effects of the meds. I have to pay someone to take me everywhere I go. I was craving hot wings and waited patiently all day until someone could drive me. They didn't have much time and suggested Chicken Express, which is near my home. Huge mistake! I crave chicken express quite a bit and I drive a good distance since my area does not have a Restaurant. But literally for the last 4 times I have went to this location I have gotten fries that are still frozen and sometimes even cold chicken. Most of the time I eat a couple fries while I'm driving and when I bite into a frie and notice it's cold it just ruins my whole mood because most of the time it's when I'm on my way to work so I have no time to go back. I have called the store and when I ask for the manager they take forever to pick back up and with that being said the person seems to always have an attitude when I tell them about my problem and has no sympathy and says that I must bring all the food back for them to reheat which is ridiculous. Love Chicken Express, but went yesterday and the chicken was dry and the gravy wasn't gravy, it was white water...literally the consistency of water and had no flavor. It was in a cup and on the mashed potatoes, so I had to pour it off the potatoes. Very disappointed that someone there didn't have enough common sense when they put that on the food and in the cup to say to someone this gravy has an issue and know that this was such low quality that it shouldn't be served. Just saw a new employee standing by to get trained. Wow! What a terrible sight. The male new employee had his hand under his shirt, rubbing his chest and underarm. Of course he had on the typical dress fashion...T-shirt and 3 layers of pants with underwear showing. Without washing his hands, he went into the serving area to commence training. The female training him was watching this event and said nothing. The problem with all of this is...We are allowing Kids to train Kids.
