I had a pretty bad disagreement with this location not long ago, and it reminded me just how far the standards have slipped. About a year ago, things looked like they might turn around. A new management team seemed to improve service for a short while. But something changed again, and now it feels like the restaurant has fallen back below standards. To be fair, the employees here work hard and deal with a lot. The bigger issue seems to come from management and ownership, which affects everything else. Bottom line: Church's is still a staple in Angleton, but it's no longer the Church's I grew up with.

Had the special which was to legs and two thighs for the price of the 3 pc dark. Beans and slaw. Ok, the chicken was great, moist, seasoned, very well cooked. I will go out of my way to go here for the chicken. Beans, canned with a little flavor added, nothing to brag about the slaw was pretty good. The fries on my friend's plate looked great. Perfect. We got here at about 1145, the place was busy. By 1215, it was packed, but they move people through and do a booming take out. Try it, you will like it. It satisfied my fried chicken desire and. Am set for a bit, but still want to go get more!!

Thankfully the owner/manager must have noticed me fanning and turned on the AC. Whew! With air now pumping through the vents I changed my mind and went ahead to make my dine-in order. I decided on the loaded Mac n' Cheese (topped with chicken, no heat, because I'm a big baby when it comes to spice, even the jalapeños I had to put to the side...lol). There was little Mac as it was buried under the pile of fried chicken - it was decent but I would have loved there to be more of a balanced ratio of Mac to Chicken. The chicken did had good flavor, tender bite with a nice crisp on the outside. The portion size overall was huge, I could not finish it all and had to take my food to go. Overall, the inside decor of this new location was nice and artsy with a colorful wall mural and table art, very fun. When it comes to price, it's not that cheap, however for about $17 for this meal you do get a lot of bang for your buck. I think the students, faculty and staff on the UH campus will like this place especially once they know it's there. Where Nashville meets Houston...It's worth checking out. Enjoy!

Despite the quantity of food I ordered, the price was acceptable. At least there's that. I'm not a connoisseur of the dining scene in Angleton but I'd venture to guess that it's one of the solid options in town.
