    The sauce of my inspiration

This is such a coincidence, because I know this amazing chick from Mexico, in fact you've probably seen her wearing stilettos in some of my Yelp pictures. Unfortunately I've never taken her to Chick Mex because she - like many - sees Buffalo as this place which is permanently under 7 feet of snow. Even in July. Which is basically true. What people don't realize about Buffalo (unless you already know), is that even though it's in New York, it's an 8-hour drive (cough 6 hours if I'm driving endcough) from New York City (and a very expensive one if you're foolish enough to take the Thruway the whole way). So with that in mind, perhaps it is no surprise to those in the know, that it's impossible to get a "Halal Cart" meal in these parts of the world. New Yorkers know it well: Chicken or Lamb or a Combo over rice, with a little nondescript salad, slathered in white sauce that tastes more like mayo than your Uncle's secret white sauce that he let you try in his basement that one time (and it still haunts you), and a little red sauce that tastes more like "omg my tastebuds just got shot in 1980s Brooklyn" rather than Buffalo hot sauce. Impossible, that is... until now. Yes, it's true. To my amazement, this little Tex-Mex spot is now serving up Halal food to the masses. Ask for the NY-style chicken over rice, or whatever it's called (there's a poster on the wall). I've had it 3 times now, and I'm a big fan. Really good New York style halal cart food that taste succulent and delicious and has improved a lot over the last 2 years. The owner is a pretty awesome guy and I consider him a friend of mine because he's been so nice to me when I've seen him in and around this place. He's ambitious as well and is thinking of opening more of these and some other cool stuff here and there. It's not bad at all. And if you're in love with NY Halal type food, you should try this. And there's even better versions to be had in NYC itself, so make sure you try those too. Because as Sammy's and Zaiqa in Queens, or Rafiqi's and Tony Dragonas in Manhattan, will show you... you ain't seen nothin' yet. (Pulls Down Pants) After all, as any chick will tell you... Halal Cart food Mex the world go round.

We loved this place. They suggested some really good dishes and we loved it! We tried the Mexican bowl, Nachos and Chicken Burrito. The sauces here are amazing. Try their spicy salsa, it's delicious!

Walked in the restaurant with a craving for tacos. Recently I have been avoiding eating meat so I was not sure which protein choice to choose. The pescatarian lifestyle limits a lot of food options. Delightfully, Chick Mex Grill offers the fish option. Not only was I able to get the tacos that I was craving, the customer service was extraordinary! Jacob was friendly and extremely attentive to taking my order! He also recommended the fish and told me it was pretty good. I'm glad I took his advice because, the fish was impeccable. Ari also was able to provide great customer service by chopping up the fish and making the actual order. She listened to all of the condiments I wanted for my order and served it with a smile. Great place to eat and I definitely would recommend to a friend !

Best food in the Commons. I got 3 tacos for $6.50, a chicken, beef, and steak. The steak taco was the best. The mango salsa topping was amazing. They were generous on the portion, the tacos were loaded with guac and mango salsa. Love this place

12" Fish fry Sub for $6.50. Not a bad deal for lunch.

Much better food compare to others in UB Commons area. Look for their everyday special deal. I got a 12" fish fry sub just for $6.50. It's doesn't taste out of the world kinda, but with this price and location it was OKish to me.

Chicken, rice bowl with vegetables, beans and mango salsa.

Chipotle style food but halal and equally delicious. It's located near commons at UB north campus. Definitely recommended for those of you with exotic taste buds!

This week it was M Asian…read moreHalal Foods that filled my stomach for dinner and they did a pretty darn good job at it. This was my first time having Pakistani since moving to Buffalo but knowing where this place was located was almost a guarantee that is was going to be fantastic. The menu features a lot of unique items that I absolutely need to try in the future (most notably the goat curry) but the chicken biryani is what drew me in on this day. The gentleman working the counter was friendly and and quick to deliver the food when It was done (nice and hot too!). The rice served with this dish would of been enough alone to satisfy me but the chicken that was underneath it gets 2 thumbs up! I can't put my finger on what exactly the flavouring was but it was absolutely delicious in every way. M Asian Halal Foods is another fantastic addition to the West Side Bizarre. If you are hungry and wanting to get something new, give these guys a shot, you will not be disappointed!

So they're talking about having a black guy play James Bond. Idris Elba, I believe, was the front…read morerunner. So my question is... When are they going to make M Asian? The owners of this little stand, apparently, were wondering the same thing. And considering that one of the other amazing places inside the West Side Bazaar is "007 Asian Food", I think they're trying to tell us something. What to get: Chicken Karahi, or Egg Curry. What not to get: garrotted by one of Q's gadgets. Absolutely spectacular Indian food hidden away in the wonderful West Side Bazaar. One of the newer stands this place specializes in the egg Curry and especially the car. Chicken Karahi is a Pakistani specialty which is absolutely delicious. These guys know how to make it. Every bite is absolutely wonderful. Prices under $10 in the portion will fill you up. It's nice and oily just the way I like it. Indian food is a little like Chinese and Mexican food in that (a) there are a massive number of varieties, many of which are nothing like each other, and (b) the majority of people in the US don't know or understand the cuisine whatsoever. What most Americans think is Indian, Chinese or Mexican food is absolutely not. It's probably bland, overly-sugary gentrified crap that was literally invented to sell to Americans, which the majority of people from the culture or country in question, would never go near. Such as the dish "Butter Chicken" which is about as authentic as a Taco Bell taco. And as bland, sugary, and spiceless, too. Yay Murica. What you need to do when you go for Indian or Pakistani food - if you've chosen well and picked a place that has some real Indian food, like this stand does - is to pick dishes that are actually authentic. In this case, the Egg Curry and the Chicken Karahi are both delicious, full of flavour and spice, and must-try dishes. The samosa is also excellent. If you haven't been to the West Side Bazaar, you haven't really experienced Buffalo Cuisine. We have some of the most delicious treats hidden around the region and this place is one of the very best. While you're in here, get a fruit smoothie (no milk, ask for real fruit) from Gourmet Lao, as well as the sticky rice from 007 and the Garlic Chicken soup from the Burmese place across from M Asian. Now I'm going to write to the Broccoli family (and the late Ian Fleming) and Daniel Craig (and Sean Connery) and ask when the hell they are going to make M Asian. Speaking of which, I'll take the rapists for 400. And I want Swords for 600. That's not what your mother said last night Trebek.

We started with the lentil soup, boiling hot and full of lemon juice and black pepper. Mango lassis for both of us, and when we asked for tap water, we were given an entire pitcher of ice water for the table, with two cups. My husband ordered lamb handi, cubes of tender meat in a thick gravy with tomatoes, onions and green peppers. He had ordered it "Medium spicy", but I think the kitchen was grading on a curve: It was less punchy than the soup. Still, I wouldn't order "Hot" as I once did here: The chef takes pride in his liberal use of peppers at this level. (The menu warns you: "This is a dish for stronger constitutions"). My lamb shashlik was char grilled on a skewer (thoughtfully removed prior to serving) with slices of tomato, onions and green peppers, plated on a sizzling iron plate. The chunks of lamb had been marinated: They were so tender! The garlic naan? Fresh from a tandoor oven, with a little char, lots of butter and garlic, and a little parsley. It was so fresh and good!
