When needing dinner on the run Chik-Fil-A is usually a no brainer. This appears to be a new one, new at least since my last time through Eagle Pass. The building and landscaping is beautiful. The outside seating would be great in nice weather. The parking is spacious and lots of room to maneuver, perfect for all the big trucks common to this part of the country. The dining room is also good sized and is pleasantly decorated. There is a play place for small children. The service and food here were excellent. The staff attentive and the food fresh and delicious as expected. While there were some clean tables free, there were more tables needing a wipe down. The bathrooms also needed some attention. Perhaps it was just timing. It was not terrible but that aspect did not meet the high standards usually found at other Chik-Fil-As. That's the only reason I gave them 4 stars rather than 5. I will try them again next time through.

I've been in the drive through line this morning for exactly 25 minutes and am still 5 cars away from the window. Ridiculous.

Revive Coffee Shop

Ambience: 4 Customer Service: 5…read moreMenu Options: 5 Food quality: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Parking: 5 Prices: 5 Location: 4 Especially now during the pandemic, I love supporting local businesses, and Revive Coffee Shop is one of those local businesses you will want to support! The moment you walk in the door you can feel positive vibes. Great decorations, all kinds of coffee, delicious food (both savory and sweet), all served with a smile... After no sleep the night before, and 6 hours on the road driving from the Rio Grande Valley, I needed exactly what the sign says: to "Relax, Renew & Revive". Turns out they delivered on all three! I was reminded of the Cheer's TV theme song, "where everybody knows your name," because as I sat there, most everyone who came in was greeted by their name and was known by the staff. People are people, not numbers at Revive. In fact, even the tables have names rather than numbers! Yep, each table has its own name reflected by the decorations which all blend together somehow in an ecclectic harmony of positivity and warmth. I loved the bicycle table (yes, made from an actual bicycle!), the Star Wars table, and also those with themes like faith and love (who doesn't need more of that this year!). It is obvious the owners have a sense of humor, and their signs of quips and quotes scattered throughout the shoppe are sure to bring a smile to your face. I especially identified with the sign that says, "All I need today is a little coffee, and a whole lot of Jesus!" (Don't we all?) It's definitely a family friendly atmosphere, and a great place to meet with friends or co-workers. I was impressed with the cleanliness, from the tables, kitchen to the bathroom. Great job. I was surprised by the menu and the offerings of fresh food! Why would anyone want to go to their big competition which only has prepackaged, frozen food warmed up in a microwave, when you can go to Revive Coffee Shop for real fresh delicious food, cooked right there... and at very reasonable prices??? I really enjoyed my cappuccino and some delicious chilaquiles (with chicken and egg) for lunch. The serving was so generous my only disappointment was I couldn't eat one of their famed desserts I had heard about... They have all the other specialty coffees, frappe's, espresso, mocha, you name it, as well as specialty teas... oh yeah, AND free WiFi! Revive Coffee Shop is definitely on my "return to" list. I really enjoyed my visit and know you will too. They are located on Hwy. 277 about 4/10ths of a mile east of Veteran's Blvd, on the south side of the highway. Look for the low building with the orange awning.

I'm glad Eagle Pass got a place like this. Coffee shop vibes with a little bistro on the side. I…read moredid not try the food, but I did try their iced coffee. Very clean and not acidic at all. Seems to me it was a lighter roast with a fruity aromas. Oscar, the owner, said they bring their coffee from Veracruz, Mexico. My drink was not on the menu, but when I asked for iced coffee they had cold brew ready to go. Don't be afraid to ask if you have questions, the staff is super friendly and will help you out. Ps They have live music on Friday!

La Parrilla - Mollejas tacos

La Parrilla

Yup. I'm definitely a fan…read more Note: I think this is a new location. Not sure if they moved or this is a 2nd restaurant. I'm only here in Eagle Pass for two weeks and I wasn't really impressed with the food here so far, until my visit to La Parrilla. The other day, I asked a local girl at the front desk of my hotel what was the best taco shop in Eagle Pass. She was a little hesitant. Seeing that I wasn't a local nor was I Mexican, she named a couple of spots probably thinking, "Hmm. What places do non-Mexicans like here in town, since they're used to Taco Bell and Chipotle?" I then pressed her a little by first letting her know that I have a fairly vast experience with Mexican food and I must find the best tacos in town. I asked her where would she go if it was her last day in Eagle Pass and she could never get tacos here again. She quickly answered, "La Parrilla". Stepping out of my truck into the parking lot, I knew right away that I was going to be happy. The pleasant aroma of grilled meats could not be contained within the restaurant walls. I'm not sure how it is at night but during lunchtime, I believe we had to seat ourselves. No servers were around to greet us but a couple were hanging around the bar in the back waiting for someone to sit down at a table. It appears that they have a lot of orders to go, as they front desk was filled with multiple bags of food. My coworker and I sat ourselves. Being in uniform, I assumed that was why an English speaking waitress came to our table to take our drink orders. Super-cute with glasses and braces, our waitress was crazy nice. She was more than happy to explain everything on the menu for me. I was impressed with her helpful spirit and I couldn't thank her enough. After noticing, I had to ask and she confirmed; only beef and chicken were on the menu here at La Parrilla. They do not serve pork, which was fine because there were ample choices on the menu to satisfy anyone. IMO, I think it is better to be really good at a few things than mediocre at everything. I was down for tacos so I asked what were the most popular? This wasn't an easy question to be answered so I went with two beef choices, of course. Wait, not chicken? Heck no. Who bases their reviews off chicken tacos? Sorry. This ain't California. This is Texas. And in Texas... we eat beef! I ordered the arrachera and the costilla. Being Asian, I had no idea what these were but they were part of the popular choices. My waitress told me that arrachera was skirt steak and costilla was rib meat. Heck yeah, I was good with that. When they arrived, I was good and ready to trying them both. Though they looked very similar, I could easily tell which was which by the consistence of the meat cut. They were both really good. It wasn't easy to determine which one I liked more but if I had to choose one, it would be the costilla. Needless to say, I destroyed them all. I ordered 5 tacos and though it was more than filling, I was wanting more. I could have easily killed 7-10 because I was that happy with the flavors. I was also served limes, pico de gallo and two salsas; red and green. In Texas, I find that in most places the green salsa in hotter but here was just like CA: the red was the spicier hot one. And it was damn good. If you can't handle spicy, I'd recommend sticking with the green but if you're feeling a little adventurous, go for the red salsa. After reading this long review, I have to thank you for sticking with me this far and I hope you take my recommendation to try La Parrilla. It was well worth it and I plan to visit a few more times before I leave Eagle Pass. Thank you to friendly staff at La Parrilla for helping me leave Eagle Pass with an enjoyable experience.
