New gym - who dis?!?…read more I hate change. Who moved my cheese? Gah. Ugh. Fug. Woof. I had no other choice but to change gyms due to my gym closing - so I picked the best (and closest...right across the street) one I could. I couldn't be happier with my choice. The coaches are phenomenal. The programming is amazing. The classes are fun and full. The athletes are super friendly. There are a lot of strong athletes here, so if you're motivated by wanting to be as good as them, it'll definitely help your mental game (and hopefully physical gainzzzz). SLSC is super clean. They have TONS of equipment (stuff that I didn't even know existed). I'm pretty in love with this place and I'm glad I made the switch.

The brick style building, street parking, industrial vibe just puts you in the mood to lift heavy stuff! This is a true strength and conditioning box, and the CrossFit programming was on point! I found it super easy to sign my waiver and pay for my drop in ahead of time through their website. When I walked in, I was immediately welcomed by the staff and other athletes. I also received some great coaching cues from the various coaches who ran the classes over my 2 days dropping in. Get this, they also have open workouts for traveling drop ins.. score! Can't recommend this place enough for drop ins, or local athletes looking to take their strength and fitness to the next level!

After going through the fundamentals course and getting into regular WOD classes, I quickly grew to love it. Neil, Holly, Dana, Jose and everyone else there is incredibly nice, funny and welcoming, and they make crossfit fun and completely not intimidating. The community of people there is incredible, and being a part of it has been so much more rewarding than I ever imagined. I've gotten into the best shape of my life, made many new friends, and accomplished things I never would've thought I was capable of. I truly looked forward to coming to class every time. Now that My wife and I moved, CE is the thing I'm missing most about the old neighborhood. CE is the gym that I'll forever compare any other gym (sorry, "box") against.

CrossFit is about community and having to leave what is familiar (my home box and friends) and find something similar could prove to be a challenge. Enter: CrossFit CE. I identified CrossFit CE using the CrossFit affiliate finder. I often use this tool when traveling to identify those boxes that live up to certain programming standards, excellent coaching and focus on safety. I reached out to Neil via email to give him a heads up that I would be coming to Chicago for a two-month assignment and I would love to try them out. They set me up with a week's trial and fortunately for me CrossFit CE was a great fit. The proximity of the box to where I stayed during my assignment was ideal. The coaches at CrossFit CE are fantastic - Holly, Ben and Neil. They quickly acclimated me to the gym and integrated me into their community here in Chicago. Their members have also been great - encouraging and very friendly. I can now happily say that I have found my home box when I am in Chicago again - whether for work or visiting for fun. My time here has been truly enjoyable and I am so glad that I decided to try CrossFit CE. I can't say thanks enough to Holly, Ben and Neil for their hospitality, excellent coaching, and friendship during my assignment in Chicago.

The crew at RSTR offers something different than other group fitness classes: 30 minutes of high intensity strength OR endurance focused programming. After taking the Endurance 30 this morning, I definitely felt cardiovascularly challenged. None of the individual components of the work out were to extreme, but the combination of movements and the ability to modify and determine your own intensity made it an incredibly challenging circuit. Another strength of this location is the attention to total body wellness. As part of the intro package, there was an in depth initial assessment, including an InBody scan to breakdown the specifics of the number on the scale. The patience to work through each component of the scan, break down what the metrics mean, and establish goals of where the numbers would ideally be in 3, 6, 9, 12 months was unexpected and fully appreciated. In reality, the South Loop is a gym / fitness facility heavy area but RSTR really differentiates itself through its focus on mindfulness, wellness, fitness, and balance. From nutrition programs, to varied and diverse workouts, to pre-workout stretching, and post-workout aftercare, this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It's approachable group fitness with unique, individualized, data driven metrics to measure your progress in a real way.

I am a regular at Division St. Crossfit and it occurred to me that I should write a 5 star review…read moreon Yelp because this gym deserves it. There are a good number of reasons why I love this gym but I will give only three for the sake of brevity: 1) Skill development: Yes. We go to the gym and work out to get in shape but what else should we get out if it? I know at other gyms I would go, shut my mind off, and be a robot for an hour or two. The coaches here engage and encourage in a way that makes gym goers competent athletes. I've developed strength and technique here that I can take and use anywhere. And yes, you will look better naked. 2) Coaches: Again, this isn't the type of gym where you go in, blank out, and drive home alone drinking a protein shake. The coaches, JJ, Jess, and Amanda, know every athlete's name and physical abilities. And this gym goes beyond just working out. JJ and the others are constantly promoting and creating events and contests to encourage athletes to progress in the most fun and community building way possible. We just had a "Paleo Challenge" where winners won a free month of classes! 3) Community: Friends are easily found here. You will find encouragement from not only the coaches but the person next to you. You will find yourself cheering people on and clapping and yelling along with the other athletes. Do not hesitate to try this out. I believe a free trial class is held every Saturday. You will get your butt kicked, but you'll come back for more. And again, you will look better naked.

When I first tried the workout I was intrigued by the soft surface, because I'd never experience running like that. You actually hook into the machine with a Velcro strap that you wrap around your waist and fall forward! The machine has TRX straps on the sides and can be used to do a variety of strength and core building exercises. As a former OrangeTheory member, I was use to the High Intensity Interval Training portion of the class, but the machine itself was very unique. It has an air cushion that you can adjust to increase the difficult of your workout! They have a heart rate monitor system that shows you the results of your workout much like OrangeTheory but overall the workout is really amazing! It is definitely intense! I recently tried their beach surface which allowed me to burn over 800 calories and really challenged me to utilize muscles in my legs, calves and feet that I don't often use during regular workouts. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming! I would definitely recommend Sproing to anyone looking for a quality low impact muscle taxing workout that will leave you feeling energized and invigorated! We've both been on an exercise kick recently and she ensured me that Sproing was an excellent workout. During the first of my two workouts of the weekend, I found myself trying to adjust to the machine. It's a cross between a treadmill and a mattress. While the floor of the machine took a little getting used to, I was also facing backwards and strapped in, which made the whole thing a little odd at first. We sprinted, worked our core, did pushups, and used weights. It was a good, high impact workout that centered around interval training. Once I had a feel for the place, my second workout was even better. Cullen was an awesome instructor and he really kept us motivated, encouraging us to push ourselves until the last second. We could see if we were heeding to his advice by watching the big screens in the studio that showed us in real time how we were doing, based on our heart rate monitors. I got a great sweat in over that weekend thanks to the instructors and I found the desk staff to be very welcoming and helpful. The space is clean and new, the bathrooms are spotless and very "homey", and the equipment is sanitized regularly. This is a unique workout for sure and it can be tailored to your fitness level. Try it out if you have time.

From the moment you walk in, it's clear they've thought through every detail. Their pricing is surprisingly competitive, especially if you're looking for an unlimited membership. Yoga mats, towels, and cycling shoes are all provided at no additional cost, which makes showing up for class effortless. The studio is always clean, modern, and well maintained, creating an environment where you can focus entirely on your workout. What truly makes Studio Three stand out is the incredible team of instructors. Sayre, Stu, Katie Lee, Danielle, and Jacqueline consistently deliver challenging, motivating, and thoughtfully programmed classes. Every coach brings a unique style, but they all share the ability to push you while making every workout enjoyable.
