I know how to change a flat & after having crap tires on my last car, actually got very good at it. But I had a sinus infection & a flat tire & it was 15° out. Not a good combo. I just did a google search for something nearby & found these guys. Dispatcher warned me it might be about 45 minutes. I told them I was in a safe place because it was outside my house & not a big rush. They were there in under 15 minutes & all was said & done in about 10 minutes. The guy was very kind & worked hard. Thank goodness I called, too, as his torque wrench wouldn't even crack the bolts on my tires! Don't think I would have been able to do it on my own while being sick... let alone in 10 minutes! When I called to get my car towed they told me $85.00 on the phone, not once but TWICE, I was going back and forth with another place that was a little more expensive. Unfortunately I went with Planet Towing since they were cheaper and assured me it would be less even with the 5.0 miles my car was being towed. Long story short, I got the bill and it was not $150.00. They pulled the old bait and switch on me and lied straight to my face when they said they never said $85.00. The gentelman that picked me up was nice but it is horrible to advertise one price, make a verbal agreement and then back out. I would NEVER use them again. read more

My fiance was told that the driver would pick up our car at our home between 11-12 noon. I waited until 12:30 to call to see why they weren't at my home, yet, as I had an appointment and could not wait much longer. The driver did not show up until 1:45 in the afternoon. I had to cancel my appt.. I received no call from the dispatcher to notify me of the delay. When I called him, he lied and said that he told my fiance a different time slot. Once the driver got there, everything went well, so I have to rate the driver well, but not the dispatcher. Don't rely on a scheduled time with this company. read more

I called and not only was the man super nice, he showed up very quickly and was very well priced. You know the scene: a really snowy Saturday night in Chicago in January. You've just come back to your car after a nice dinner. All you can think about is getting home safely to a warm bed. You start driving for a few minutes and you hear that familiar sound. We called 5 different places, including Chicago Planet, and they all told us they were too busy. But then Chicago Planet was nice enough to CALL ME BACK after a few minutes when they had a cancellation. Paul, who happens to be the owner, called and couldn't have been nicer. He ended up getting to us even sooner than he promised and was so helpful and honest and comforting. Best of all, he totally knows what he's doing and gave us very helpful information about Chicago mechanics, towing and the city in general. People, if you're in a bind, call Chicago Planet. These guys are awesome. So helpful and friendly and got to where I was relatively quick. Even helped me figure out the best place to tow my car (it was later and many mechanics were closing). Got to talk with the driver on the way to the mechanic and his friendliness helped ease the stress of an otherwise bad afternoon. OVER PRICED! Needed a tow that was five blocks away. Crazy dispathcher wanted $75.00!! OUCH - went to a place for $50. My car is less than five blocks away from the business address and the drop off place is less than five blocks from my house. All in all this would be a tow for eight blocks total. I called thinking this guy would be the best price because his business address is so close to my car parked in front of my house which is a few blocks from them. The drop off is a few blocks from me as well. Two other places said they would happily do it for $50 because it was so close. read more

I called planet tow after being stranded yesterday around 5pm. Planet tow was the second tow company that I called after the first company did not answer. The owner or who I assume to be the owner stated 25 minutes. Upon disconnection the first tow called me back and advised me that they could not help though he explained the reason. I then called planet tow back to explain what the first company stated and he said not to worry. As I sat and waited and cleared my head, I remembered there was a tow company 4 minutes away. So after speaking to the other tow company I called planet tow back and can celled the tow (5 minutes after disconnecting). The owner answered and I explained why i was canceling the tow. Instead of stating OK thank you for canceling instead he states "I doubt that they are ten minutes away" and simply hung up without providing any departure closing. My cell went dead in the process. When I get home and charge my cell there is a novel length text message from this company about his time being wasted and how the other tow service will take advantage of me. I was shocked. Because I canceled the tow five minutes into disconnecting. I responded very professionally. Shortly after another novel lenght text message was received though i advised him to not text me again. I responded again and broke down the meaning of customer service. At some point he realized that text messages were intended for another driver and not me which he apologized for the confusion. I responded advising him of how rude and selfish he appeared and how he really was not concerned about the driver but more about the tow. In one message he inquired as to whether the other company undercut him on the tow fee. Did the message end there? Nope at 12:17am (as I was sleeping) I get another novel length text message. I did not respond. In the message he responded again and apologized and further explained how the other driver was "stupid" for going with the ambulance chasing company. This guy lacks customer service, is a physco and does not care about the driver only his money. I would never recommend this company. He displayed his true colors via his unintended text messages. In all texts he stated how great his reviews were so I explained to him how I would post my personal experience with his company. I assume that his reviews are good BC the driver utilized his service and did not have to cancel. read more
