This was a smaller job, but once again it involved working in an old house with some wonky dimensions and conditions. I had my closet redone and ordering a custom door took longer than it should have (not their fault), but the communication while waiting for was lacking. I assume this is because they are a small shop and pretty busy not out of malice or incompetence. THAT BEING SAID. I had a great experience with DBR; the crew was considerate, kind and clean. They worked hard and did a good job. They completed many tasks adjacent to what I had asked for in the remodel. Overall I am very pleased with the work they did and I would use them again. I also was satisfied with the price of the renovation -their price came below another quote I had gotten.

They do not return phone calls or emails and do not explain their plans. Yet, they are extremely on the ball when it comes to requesting payment. Also, I felt the contractors were condescending toward my questions, and did not seem concerned or take responsibility when things were not done right the first time. Unfortunately we still have leaks in some areas but we are going to cut our losses and try to address these with a different contractor in the future. I will say, the actual construction workers contracted by DBR, were respectful, hard working, and did a great job (although they were sometimes not directed correctly by DBR...) hence the 2 stars! I wish I had the knowledge to just hire these teams and get the supplies myself, and skip the very expensive middlemen.

After a previous remodeling project that was expected to take eight weeks but stretched into four…read moremonths, I was understandably hesitant to start another renovation. That changed when I found Mako Renovations on Yelp. Andre and the Mako team delivered exactly what they promised, making them an easy recommendation. The quality of my kitchen renovation was excellent, but what stood out most was how smooth and stress-free the process was. Communication was clear and consistent, responses were prompt, and Andre was proactive in addressing concerns. When an unexpected plumbing issue arose with the raised bar area, Andre quickly reassured me and handled it without disruption. The project stayed on track, moving efficiently without compromising quality or attention to detail. Andre kept everything organized, provided regular updates, and consistently followed through on commitments. The finished kitchen exceeded my expectations, and the experience was a complete contrast to my previous renovation. I am thrilled with the result and would gladly hire Mako Renovations again. Highly recommended.

Once he started, he realized the screws needed for the handles were missing. He ended up making two trips to the store. After the second trip, he suddenly told me I owed him an additional $100. I felt pressure to accept before he left the work incomplete. What bothered me most was how he handled the disagreement. Instead of dealing with me directly, he texted my tenant and told him I had until the end of the day to pay him; otherwise I would "pay much more than $100." My tenant had nothing to do with our agreement and should never have been placed in the middle of a payment dispute. I paid the originally agreed price of $350 plus the $100 he later demanded. Because of the unexpected additional charge and the way he communicated afterward, I would not hire Mako Renovation again.

I had already paid a plumber a significant amount of money for a leak inspection and "repair," only to find out the problem was never actually fixed. I even had one contractor tell me I needed a full bathroom renovation on a house that was only built in 2018. A clear overzealous attempt at a money grab. I found Welkin Construction almost by chance while getting quotes, and I'm extremely glad I did. From the beginning, they were honest, upfront, and professional. Instead of trying to sell me an unnecessary renovation, they took the time to properly diagnose the issue and fix the actual problem. Their team carefully caulked and resealed the shower, removed bathroom tile, replaced damaged subflooring, cut and installed new tile, repaired the hole in my kitchen ceiling, and repainted the kitchen -- all with excellent attention to detail. The quality of the work was outstanding, and the price was more than reasonable compared to the other options I was given. The owner is a genuinely nice and professional guy and his team was efficient, respectful, kind, and clearly took pride in their work. It's rare to find contractors who are this honest and dependable. Save yourself the time, frustration, and unnecessary expenses -- give Welkin Construction a call. They've earned my trust and will absolutely be my go-to company for future projects. Highly recommend!

Ohad is an honest thought partner when it comes to design and overall project management. He'll tell you straight where it's worth spending and where you can save. And his team is hardworking, honest, and reliably on schedule (and mostly on budget!). We have also had the opposite experience of some of the warranty comments below. The team has ALWAYS come back promptly to finish final details/punch list items until we're happy with the project. And, they stand by the quality of their work. For example, after refinishing our floors, we noticed some marks that weren't quite right. Ohad agreed immediately that it wasn't up to his standard of work and sent a team to fix it, no pushback at all. The team tried a "quick" fix at first which was better, but not perfect. Without us even asking to fix it again, Ohad said it still wasn't to his standard and the solution was to rework the entire area. Due to some personal scheduling conflicts that made it hard to have workers in the house, we asked to delay for a few months past project completion and he was completely understanding... told us it would happen on our timeline and just asked for some notice before we'll be ready so he can schedule the team. That kind of accountability, owning a mistake and working around our needs to fix it, is exactly why we trust him so much. Plus the incredibly high standard of work on everything that went perfectly smoothly! We won't risk anyone else working on our home at this point.
