In early May after the excessive rain we had, we found a leak in one of our rooms. I called several…read moreroofers who wouldn't or couldn't get to my home in a timely manner but SWS did. Pete was fantastic. He helped me file an insurance claim and everything was approved due his experience in the business. The roof was done within two weeks. However, we had an additional problem with our chimney box leaking and so I reached out and asked Pete if he could recommend someone to fix that problem as I fully trusted him and this was not part of the roof/ insurance, claim. Pete said he'd look into it. He eventually had some of his guys look at it and order parts to fix it. Now, I knew there'd be an additional cost but was never given any quote or dollar amount anytime we asked. Finally after about 6 wks, the box was repaired with a new cap and some siding to match it to my home because the wood was deteriorating, per Pete. Again, NEVER was given an additional price. Meanwhile I had dropped off a large portion of my final roof payment, holding the last quarter of balance until the work was fully completed. Pete also seemed to dissappear as we have not seen or heard from him since the actual roof was done. I was called by the woman who runs the office and only then did I find out the final cost of the additional work on the chimney box, which was nearly $1000 more(I could have had box removed for $400). Remember, we NEVER asked SWS to fix it, only recommend someone. Anyway, the painter finally fixed the inside damage and everything looks great after 2 Mos n 8 days. I would recommend SWS for the roofing work. We were extremely, EXTREMELY happy with that process. UPDATE: SWS MADE MY CHIMNEY ISSUE RIGHT. THEY ARE A STAND UP COMPANY.

I recently retained SSSR to replace my roof, siding, fascia, soffits and gutters. I was quickly…read moreimpressed with Pete Galgano's attentiveness to the project, particularly in stark comparison to the 2-3 other proposals I solicited from other vendors. Some never responded with a proposal while others had a proposal in my hand within 10 minutes, which felt too much like a hard sell. SSSR's proposal was in my hand within 48 hours as promised and was right in line with all the other bids. Most important, Pete guided me through the insurance claim for hail damage that otherwise I wouldn't have pursued since the other vendors made no mention of the potential for a claim. SSSR also took care of every step of the frustrating permit process. Also, Pete was very helpful in guiding us through color selections without being overbearing. After several weather-related delays, the project started in late fall with the roof replacement. That phase of the project went quickly, with no problems encountered. The roof looks great, the satellite dish was re-installed correctly and a couple of rain diverters were placed upon request. November was an absolutely miserable month of weather, so the rest of the project didn't start until we got well into December. Once that commenced, no problems were encountered. The siding looks outstanding, and we've now got a clean new look to the exterior of the house with all the trim replaced. I can recommend SSSR without hesitation. Additionally, my neighbor across the street (I got SSSR's # from the sign in his lawn) has been very happy with the work he had done through SSSR. JD 2-18-19

This is a really reputable place. I have an old Chicago house that's probably about 110 years old…read more I used Chicago Window & Door Solutions to replace wood windows from the 1960s that had stopped working and several vinyl windows (8 years old) that had started to fall apart. I was really mad about the vinyl windows because the former owner had installed them pretty new, but they literally were about to fall out of the wall. We had to lock them to keep them in place. The previous owner had the original windows replaced, but the installer of the vinyl windows did not insulate around the frame and cold air kept leaking in. The wood windows would rattle on a windy day. I found out about Chicago Window & Door Solutions through a recommendation from another contractor who was repairing my original wood windows - he said he wouldn't work with anyone else - so that tells you something! Sue & Greg came out to meet with us, took measurements and talked about our options. They install Marvin windows. Know that they aren't the cheapest option. For that you can go anywhere, but know in about 8 years, you're going to be replacing them. But I found that they listened to what we were looking for - which for me was energy efficiency as a top priority. I liked that there was the chance to get a wooden interior on the windows. It allowed us to match the stain on sill and border opening - so now these windows look like they belong and do not look like replacements. We opted to stain the windows ourselves and they gave suggestions of how to do it. More importantly, they came out twice (next day!) when we had questions/concerns. Justin came to do the install and he removed and installed six windows and fixed a sill in a day and a half - plus he cleaned up after himself! If you've ever had workmen come into your house, you know what a mess they can leave. I am really happy with the new windows. They are beautiful, they are much more energy efficient than what I had and really block out the noise. I live on a two-way street in Chicago & they have made the house much quieter than the windows I had before.

I spoke with Doug and he was very helpful in explaining about security doors and options. I have security doors at my home but they are very old and need replacing. They offer doors like the ones I currently have but the ones that struck my eyes were the Laser Art Series selection of doors! They are snazzy, classy and just beautiful. They are pricey but looks like they will last a long time. Doug answered all my questions, gave me brochures and a business card. They have this location and one in Hyde Park, IL. I plan to do business with them in the future. Thank you the Door Store for great customer service.

We were in need of having some glass blocks replaced in two different windows on our bungalow…read more After talking with Bill we decided the best course of action was to replace both windows entirely. It made the most sense based on the number of blocks that needed repair and the condition of some other blocks. Bill gave a quick and very reasonable estimate for the work to be done. He was upfront about the timeline and was very flexible in scheduling. On the day of the work, the crew sent out was very professional and on time. (A few minutes earlier actually, and that's ok!). They were very polite and got to work right away taking out the old windows. Within an hour and a half, the windows were fine and the new windows were in. When I went out to check the work, it was literally like no one was ever there. They cleaned up everything immaculately and left without a trace. One of, if not the best experience I've had with contractors doing work in our home. We have three other glass block windows that all will likely need to be replaced in the near future, and there is no doubt in my mind on who I am calling for that job! Thanks, Hardy Glass!
