My stepmom and I were walk-ins today. The ladies accommodated both of us right away for pedis. My toes were in seriously bad shape, I had a major ingrown toenail. Alexia (I believe that's her name) got it out! She did such an amazing job at getting that painful thing out. Very good pedicure complete with a scrub, long massage, and hot towel. I was forced to give them one star. No customer service what so ever. They have a huge sign saying "walk-ins welcome", and for Mother's Day I decided to treat my grandma and mom for Mother's Day to a nice pedicure. Being that this place has such high ratings I decided to come here. They close at 6 got there at 5 and asked if there was any availability for 3 pedicures, first off there was no welcoming what so ever and then she says they Were already closed? So I replied with "I thought you guys close at six" and was shot the reply of "were closing early today" keep in mind there was no apology from these workers as well. My first visit to a nail salon since moving back home to Hilo; saw the great reviews (versus the many negatives at other locations) and I'm so HAPPY that I did! The ladies all treated me to a wonderful experience and told me they've been open for around 6 months; the place is very clean and well organized with new and comfortable massage chairs for a spa pedi. I had a very relaxing and leisurely Saturday morning (no crowds, no rushing and they all took the time and care to do things well and right the first time). I had a gel French manicure mani/spa gel pedi and waxed eyebrows for $100, very comparable to O'ahu and worth every penny. I would happily recommend them and I plan to be back often! read more

My mum is used to California nail techs that rush through their work that you have to point out any flaws or you'll end up with deformed nails. The ladies at Chic Nails take their time and have you look at your nails on one hand, while they work on the other hand, to point out anything you might not like. This place is a quality manicure. I don't get manis and pedis often, but I've had enough to know that this is the best one out there. I have a handful of reasons why Chic Nails deserves a 5-star perfect review. First, we were walk ins on a holiday. The 3 of us got two mani/pedis and one kids polish w nail trimming. Although they had clients, we didn't wait that long and they were very efficient. Second, we felt welcomed from the start and there were no awkward conversations, only friendly interesting chit chat. Third, the hand and leg massage were absolutely DIVINE. I didn't get the name of the technician that was doing mine, but she's the owner's sister. She was AMAZING! Fourth, my kid got a quality polish in multiple colors and felt so giddy, so it's kid friendly there was a guy getting his pedi. In a few words, it's all-inclusive. Fifth, I don't think I've ever not ruined a nail within the half hour of leaving the salon except this time. It's been two days and they look like I just had them done. That's saying something bc I'm in the medical field and hand washing constantly which makes them chip quicker than your average two weeks. All 3 of us have nails still going strong. Cherry is the best! My whole life my nails were soft, frail and were never able to grow past my fingertips. I've tried many nail strengtheners but nothing worked. I've gone to many (and I mean many) places but no one could repair my pitiful nails. Then I went to Cherry, she used a vitamin strengthener on my nails and just after 1 visit I could tell a difference; my nails are amazing, crazy strong and healthy! Cherry has done wonders on my natural nails. I have never been disappointed and have actually been amazed at how beautiful my nails are everytime. So slow and extremely overpriced. Made reservations for 4. They didn't tell us they only had 3 people working so 2 people had to wait for them to finish the first 2 to even start. Never again. I took my two little sisters and myself here to get manicures, they charged me $40 each for all of us. They got regular manicures and I got a full set. My sisters nails are okay, some of the polish was missing from the nail like they didn't finish it. My nails are terrible, lumpy, crooked, and both of my thumb nails seem to be loose already(it's the next day). She also didn't clean or clip my cuticles. The whole time it felt very rushed. I am completely disappointed with my nails and I won't be returning again. I honestly feel ripped off but you live and learn. read more

I LOVE Chic nails it's the new owners of the old Pageant Nails and this is where I always go in Hilo! I have tried a couple other places before I found them and thank God Cherry is in the house! I went in to get my eyebrows waxed and had a horrible experience. I used to frequent the previous business that occupied that space so I figured I would give it a try. I had my eyebrows tattooed three years ago so when I get them cleaned up I tell the salon to follow the existing shape. The woman that helped me seemed nice. However, she did nothing I asked her to do. She did not follow the existing shape and waxed too much. In fact, I'm missing parts of my eyebrows. I'm leaving for a trip to Europe in 3 days and now I will have to draw in my eyebrows till who knows when. I have been waxing my eyebrows at salons for years and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I do not think I will ever go to another again. All of the reviews I read say good things about their work on nails. My advice: DO NOT HAVE YOUR EYEBROWS WAXED AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. read more
