This review is solely based on my experience on getting a lash perm. I get lash perm regularly and I know how it is done. I always get them done back home in LA, and of course, they always do a fantastic job. All my friends ask where I get them done and it lasts for so long, about 3-4 months!! I got here and the so-called receptionist isnt the nicest. Very unprofessional. I dont think she even knows what customer service is. She's not rude rude but shes rude because I felt it. The girl who did my lash perm, her name was Summer, if I remember correctly. I dont know is it because she does extensions more that shes not too expert on lash perm on she just doesnt know how to do it like a pro. My lashes literally look the same. Maybe VERY SLIGHTLY curled at the tip but its just my flat lashes with no curls. I was so shocked to see my lashes after she said she was done. Why? Because I didnt notice any change. When I got them done in LA, my lashes were like SUPER STRAIGHT CURLED UP that when I open my eyes, it would almost touch my eyebrow, literally. Well, my lashes are STICKY, GLUEY AND CLUMPED together. I dont know what the hell she used but it SHOULDNT be sticky like this. They usually end it with conditioner/oil and makes my lash look sort of 'wet' but definitely not sticky. When I told her it doesnt look permed at all, she said she left the perm agent for long enough that if she left it longer, my lashes would have fried. I'm laughing because she didnt even take an hour do to the whole lash perm. It usually takes 1.5 hours when I get it done. She obviously doesnt have any knowledge on lash perm I guess. I was so speechless how arrogant she was and I just left because I didnt want to argue. I should have left when I noticed how nonchalant the receptionist was. Wasted my money and time and got nothing back in return. I am going back to LA in 2 weeks for a week and Ill just get it done there. I am posting a pic with this review with the perm I got here compared to LA, so they can see what LASH PERM supposed to look alike. DONT COME HERE AND WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. TRUST ME.

They operate under the facade of professionals when in reality they are extremely greedy and unprofessional. They are absolutely a pleasure to work with when you are paying and pleased but as soon as they make a mistake the true reality of the their business practice becomes apparent. I personally had Kyrsti Ann Nelson work on my hair. She was uneducated in the treatment she provided for me. Not only was the treatment ineffective; my hair was damaged. She was extremely unprofessional when I explained my grievances to her. She lacks basic customer service skills. They also really care about your hair health and will give you advice or tips and tricks on achieving certain styles you like. Although this place is pretty new, you can tell they've been doing this for a while. They're very good at what they do and you get what you pay for. Beautiful, healthy, rejuvenated hair! Two lovely women run this place and they're just the sweetest! So easy to chat with, so humble and laid back, and very sincere. The shop itself is very cute, kept clean, well lit, and well ventilated with either AC or a nice breeze blowing through if the door is open. They have their own hair washing stations and waxing table as well. This is my new go-to salon and I don't plan on going anywhere else. Other places are so intimidating to walk into but this place really makes you feel like you're at home or visiting a friend or family. I left with a healthy feeling and beautiful looking hair transformation. From frizzy, overgrown, lifeless, sad hair to silky, fresh, beautiful, healthy hair! I felt like a new woman walking out of that salon. Would recommend to everyone I know to go here! They are by appointment only so definitely call and make an appointment ASAP! Note: this picture is day 3 after my appointment. Still shiny, still full of life and body, and everything I wanted my hair to be. Day 1 definitely looked polished and amazing! You can obviously tell I tousled my hair and slept on it by day 3. No washing, no product other than the heat protectant used before styling. All I did was brush my hair and run my fingers through it. I'm in love and this picture doesn't do it justice. Edit: I forgot to mention that their prices are very good! Other salons will charge you an arm and a leg for haircuts or other services, but this place is much more affordable and you get amazing quality!!

I can only assume she heard my voice, and on the basis of how I sounded to her, she decided she didn't have anything available for ME, specifically. I was nice, polite, chill. Don't bother with this place unless you are an insider, I guess.

Feels like a waste of money because I want to remove the polish from this unsightly manicure and I've only had it for a few hours.

My first visit to the Hilo location was awesome! Perfect birthday treat for myself. It was organized, clean and comfortable. I conferred with Grace on selecting a treatment for myself and we agreed on the Hydrafacial. Having worked with Grace at a previous company, I knew what to expect from her: professional, knowledgeable, courteous, helpful, super friendly and just a pure delight to be around. Once I got settled, she walked me through the process and explained in detail about the benefits of each step and made me feel extremely comfortable, since I've never had this type of facial before. Overall, it was a great 1st experience. I would definitely recommend this treatment. I also went in for a lomi lomi massage more recently in their brand new location on Kawili Street. Hilo Town needed a setup like this and Grace did not disappoint. Modern, clean and tasteful. I got to catch up with Grace, and had the pleasure of having Brandon perform the actual massage. He was very friendly, thoughtful and accommodating. The pressure he used was perfect and was very professional throughout. Honestly, can't wait to go back for another massage! Someone has recommended that I check out this new place in Hilo. She said that they don't do the typical feel good about yourself facials, but that they do facial treatments that actually work. Work, as in improve the condition of the skin. As I was struggling with acne break outs, I decided to check it out. My first impression was really good. The place occupies a suite on the second floor of the new Kawili St plaza. They are the in the top right corner of the building, although I didn't see any signs, so if you don't know what you are looking for, it is a bit hard to spot at first. Look for all the blue lights. My treatment lasted one hour and my esthetician was very thorough. She got all the pimples and made them go away. The place was very clean, had a minimal decor but looked very upscale. Just got my Lomi Lomi massage at the Honolulu Spa & Wellness Hilo and it was amazing. My massage therapist Brandon really knew what he was doing. Just after one massage I can definitely feel an improvement with all the knots and kinks in my muscles. Located in the new Kawili Business Plaza, they have a private parking lot. The place is spotless clean, which for me was supper important. My massage therapist was wearing the mask the whole time. I really liked the fact that they had a bathroom on the premises, and I was able to wash my hands before starting. Overall my massage experience was really good. I was visiting Hilo and decided to take a chance on Sea Bird Massage & Spa, a place I had never heard of before. I booked a 90-minute deep tissue massage with hot stones and cupping, not knowing what to expect. When I arrived, I was greeted by Michelle, a petite, warm, and professional therapist who immediately made me feel welcome. The intake process was simple--a single page with a few questions--and within minutes I was led into a peaceful treatment room with relaxing music and a calming atmosphere. For context, I'm 46 years old and get a lot of massages--often one or two a month in California. As an overnight nurse, I carry a tremendous amount of tension in my neck, shoulders, and upper back from years of charting and poor posture. I've experienced the full spectrum of massage therapists: the ones who barely touch you and leave you feeling like you paid to be petted for an hour, and the ones who go so deep that you spend the entire session trying not to crawl off the table. Michelle was neither. She was PERFECT. When I asked for medium pressure, she somehow delivered exactly what my body needed. Not too light. Not too deep. Just right. It honestly felt like she could read my thoughts--or at least hear what my muscles were telling her. She knew exactly where to focus, how long to stay in a tense area, when to ease off, and when to gradually work deeper. I've had countless massages over the years, and Michelle used techniques I had never experienced before. At one point, I genuinely felt like six people were working on me at the same time. I later noticed the bamboo bar above the table and realized she may have been using it for some of her bodyweight techniques. Whatever she was doing, it was incredible. There were moments when she was using her hands while simultaneously applying pressure and stretching in ways that completely melted years of tension. The session included deep tissue work, stretching, cupping, hot stones, hot towels, percussion techniques, scalp massage, face massage, jaw work, neck stretching, and even an eye mask when I turned over. My joints were popping and releasing. My muscles were letting go one by one. I was so relaxed I think I may have been drooling at one point. I kept telling Michelle she was magic because that's honestly what it felt like. She checked in frequently about pressure, was attentive, polite, and incredibly intuitive. Her understanding of anatomy and body mechanics is obvious. Despite her petite size, she has remarkable strength and control. By the end of the session, I felt lighter, looser, and more relaxed than I have in years. My body was practically thanking me. I don't know how long Sea Bird Massage & Spa has been in Hilo, but it is truly a hidden gem. From the outside, you would never guess that one of the most talented massage therapists I've ever encountered is working inside. If you're considering booking here, do it.
