Not to mention how my natural nails were damaged by her work, I bled and felt so much heat, she ground them down to nothing. while watching a show on her phone the whole time. DIP usually lasts me a month or more, so much that I have to redo since my nails have grown out. I think the pictures say it all. please go somewhere else for DIP. :( read more

MAHALO to our technicians Tran & Lee today 2/16/24. My bf and I flew to Hilo, HI for our traditional Valentine weekend celebration. We always stop at KTA to purchase groceries, and Maile's Nail Salon is right next to it. Our 1st time walking in and happen to ask if the ladies could take us. They said 'yes', and we were so grateful. They were so nice and accommodating. We had the Delux Pedi, which included a lot of extra time on the lower leg massage, exfoliating scrub, menthol lotion, and following that, the HOT TOWEL.... Sooooo relaxing and invigorating! Please save your money and choose somewhere else. I have never been so disappointed in the nails I've gotten before. I went in to get my acrylics removed and was asked if I wanted to add a manicure and gel, so I thought why not get that done too. Manicure was fine, it was a little painful because she was picking very deep into my skin imo. But the nails look like absolute garbage - like an elementary kid did it. Nails very all shaped uneven, coating of the gel polish is not even and some is even on my finger too. Overall, I do not recommend this place at all. The workers there were nice, but if you're looking for quality, please choose another place. read more

Usually I don't go try out other nail salons, but my nail lady couldn't do a pedicure on a group of us today. We ended up here, the nail polish was getting sticky already & the lady still used it. So here I am a few hours later with a big dent of missing nail polish on my big toe. This is a lesson learned. Never try out another nail/hair/lash person if you already have a good one. I usually go to Maile once a month for a pedicure and they do a great job. They are super clean and have partitions between the customer and the nail tech and everyone wears a mask. I feel safe. Sometimes, I get a design drawn on my big toe and they always do a good job. The ladies that work there are always friendly and polite. I have gone to several other salons in Hilo and no one does as good a job. They give great leg massages when you get a pedicure. Very relaxing. read more

I'm so thrilled I finally found a clean, nice nail salon. I moved here a year ago and this was the 7th place I tried. It's not that I'm picky, all I wanted was a clean salon, also sterilized tools. My girlfriend got a pedicure today from them today and loved it. Said that the prices cannot be beat, she did an amazing job, and they look better than a lot of places she has been to on the mainland. This place was terrible. Never going back again. I arrived and checked in at 4:50pm. I logged myself down for a mani/pedi and eyebrow waxing. I was seen immediately to a chair at the pedicure station had my feet dropped in scalding hot water. I asked if they could add some cold water. I was then handed a price list and asked which mani/pedi service I wanted. I recall the basic one being approximately $30, the deluxe $57 (which is the one I chose), and another one being more expensive than that. Even after I said the deluxe the woman still tried to push the more expensive one on me. I get the hustle. That's how you make your money but I still said "no thank you, the deluxe is fine." She proceeded to work on me for about 10 minutes until her 5oclock appointment showed up, then I was passed on to someone else. It literally took over an hour to massage my feet, trim my big toe nail, clip my cuticles and paint my toenails. I was then led to the manicure station where it took over another hour to trim & file my nails and paint them. Then I was told that if I had called and made an appointment I would've been out of there quicker. I honestly don't know how that made any sense considering I had someone working on me the whole time I was there. I didnt finish till 7:05pm. By this point I just wanted to go home since I've been up since 3am running around all day. I decided not to get my eyebrows waxed. Who knows how long that would've taken. Imagine my surprise when my total for my "deluxe" mani/pedi turned out to be $88! Not the $57 that was listed on the price sheet I was shown. Then she has the nerve to say that's with my 10% discount. Ummm... I'm pretty sure I'm missing something because I didn't get a full set, I didn't get any kind of ornamentation. I didn't get the eyebrow waxing that I came there for. I got your basic Betty mani/pedi which tbh isn't that impressive. I was so mad that I just paid with two $50 bills and booked it out of there. Now I'm kicking myself in the @$$ for not getting a receipt or paying with my card so that there's some kind of record that I was there. Honestly, save your money and go elsewhere. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! I made an appointment to do my nails, my usual person is out of town. I asked for a pink and white set, I figured it's basic so should be no problem.... I was helped by the OWNER!? who doesn't seem like she knows how to do nails at all! Omg I have never seen anything like this! I asked to have my old nails removed so I could have a fresh set, she argued with me but finally agreed to do it. That took forever, she made two of my fingers bleed. Then she started on my nails. Tried to do stilettos when I had asked several times for square. Then she proceeded to take 15 minutes to do one nail-horribly! Lumpy, uneven color. I told her it looked bad, she scraped it off and redid it 3 more times. After almost an hour, I asked her if she had ever done a pink and white set. She showed me two pics in her phone ( bad sets) then took out her clips and chipped off the tips and told me to leave! My nails were trashed, ruined! I went in for a pedicure and waited 10 minutes. There were two other women already getting pedicures when I entered, the new owner Jan did my pedicure. I was done before the other ladies and I started way after them. It was a "rush job", she had to pick up her daughter. I was so disappointed.
