***THE BEST CHICAGO DEEP DISH PIZZA IN KENTUCKY/INDIANA/OHIO*** I'm a deep dish expert, I've eaten at every one of the big restaurants in Chicago. Let me tell you... This pie absolutely knocked my socks off, and I cannot believe it's located in a "hole-in-the wall" building in Simpsonville KY. Holy smokes, I'd eat this pie if it was served in a porta-potty! Service was great and I took the pizza home to try it. The sauce was insane! I just can't get over this pie.

Can I be brave and say something controversial? The Detroit style pizza at Chi-Pis is better than the Chicago deep dish. I know, right?! But it's true. The deep dish didn't look bad, but the large amounts of sauce that are necessary for a dish this deep weren't thick enough and it came off as a lil wet. The thin crust, however, crispy, well portioned with toppings. Great! Service was great! However, I don't know how they cook the pies because each came out one at a time with several minutes between. This isn't a big deal with a party sharing food, but for our party that each ordered its own food, there was about 25-30 minutes between when the first person was served and the last. I... I was the last. And I was sad. The small pizza was enough for at least two meals for me. These are big pies!

Large deep dish with sausage, mushrooms & banana peppers

So we ordered carry out and I asked before the call ended to leave the pizzas uncut. She told me that's the way they do it anyway which is a must for carry out deep dish, so good on them for that. My daughter had the spaghetti & meatballs which she enjoyed, and we ordered two deep dish pizzas. One was a sausage, mushroom & banana pepper and the other was a deep dish cheeseburger. The cheeseburger didn't have much flavor and was a little disappointing but the sausage, mushroom & banana pepper was very good. We also got an order of the stuffed bread which was delicious. When they tell you what each pizza feeds, they mean it and we'll be eating left overs for days. The parking lot isn't easy to navigate and pulling out onto 1848 can be tricky. Also our bill was almost $90.00 which seemed high for what we got.

First time here we started with the stuffed garlic bread. My wife went with the spaghetti and meatballs. While I went with the small southsider deep dish sausage pepperoni and ham. This is why we came to try and we are so excited. This is a Military friendly restaurant. If you want Chicago style in Kentucky this hidden golden gem is what you're looking for.

I'm a foodie but I've never had deep dish pizza. This was best pizza I've had that I can remember. The crust is perfectly flaky and crisp but only around the edges. The sauce is very balanced and fresh. The sausage is unreal!

I was very excited to see we were getting a new restaurant. The first time I stopped by they were sold out and I know this happens sometimes when you're launching a new restaurant. This time we were able to sit down and eat. I ordered the tavern style pizza and a salad. My friend ordered the deep dish where the menu warns there is a 30 minute wait for a deep dish. The salad was very fresh, and the waitress was happy to accommodate my picky topping removal. The Tavern style pizza was delicious with a crispy crust. My friend's deep dish pizza ended up taking an hour. She was given a little over five dollars off of her order to accommodate the wait and the waitress apologized. Our server was really friendly and helpful. Although I do wish the bar had been open, because having a nice drink would've helped with the wait. We are definitely going to try to come back again because the food was great! Pro tip, call in pre-order your deep dish before you arrive.

Me, my mom and my brothers girlfriend got there a few minutes before they opened and there was just one group of maybe 6 or 7 people ahead of us. We wanted to order carry out so we sat at the bar. Very nice atmosphere! Clean, well decorated. Friendly and welcoming staff! My mom got the Mandarin Salad - delicious and very different! I forgot to take a picture of it but we did sub out the blue cheese for cheddar for personal preference. In total for pizza we got a small deep dish, large tavern style specialty bbq chicken, and large tavern style pepperoni and sausage. My brother's girlfriend also got some of the stuffed garlic bread (not pictured). Pizza was very tasteful as well. The pizza sauce tastes so fresh and organic! No artificial ingredients or junk! I think this place will see a lot of success! Everything was fresh and delicious. They do have their liquor license now as well so that's a plus if you are into that. Even considering the 30 minute wait for the deep dish (this is stated on the menu), along with it getting busier by the minute, to-go orders being placed and picked up, we were headed back to the car by 3:30! Amazing service and food! I'll definitely be getting this again!

The pizza was really good! I tried the deep dish and thin crust. Both were really good. There's a very nice bar and about 5 beers on tap! Since it's deep dish, come a little bit before you're hungry because it takes a little while for the pizza to be done. There's server was really nice and kept our drinks filled!

If you like pizza, Maillard Wood Fired Kitchen in Elizabethtown is one you need to put on your…read morelist. I went with the Italian Meats pizza, and this thing was amazing. It comes loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, cappy ham, sopressata and ricotta, along with Romano and mozzarella. What really makes it different is the Neo-Neapolitan, wood-fired style. Their pizzas are cooked at extremely high temperatures, which gives the crust those dark, blistered spots you can see in the pictures. Those black spots aren't necessarily a burned pizza, that char is part of what gives wood-fired pizza its distinctive flavor and texture. Maillard even describes its food as being "kissed by fire." And LOOK AT THAT CHEESE PULL! The crust had a great combination of crispy, chewy and slightly charred, while the center stayed softer. Add all those Italian meats and the little pockets of creamy ricotta, and there was a ton of flavor in every bite. This definitely isn't your typical chain-store pizza. The menu is pretty impressive too. They have everything from a basic cheese or pepperoni pizza to combinations like The Great Debate, Sweet & Spicy, Greek Freak, The Bama, Garlic Confit and The Gus. There are also wood-fired wings, salads, cheese breads and several dipping sauces. So even if everyone at the table doesn't want the same kind of pizza, there are plenty of options. Another thing I really enjoyed was the atmosphere. It was peaceful and relaxing when we were there on a mid Thursday evening, it's one of those places where you can actually sit down, enjoy your food and have a conversation without feeling rushed. And the service was awesome. Friendly service can turn good food into a great experience, and they nailed both. One tip for somebody trying wood-fired pizza for the first time: don't judge that dark crust before you taste it. I know somebody is going to look at my picture and say, "They burnt your pizza!" Nope, that blistered char is one of the things that makes this style of pizza so good. Amazing pizza + peaceful atmosphere + awesome service = an easy from me. I'll definitely be back, although now I've got a problem: Do I order the Italian Meats again because it was that good, or try another one? Let me know what you ordered and if you felt this review was satisfactory. Enjoy your!

The quality of the service goes down and the waiting time goes up. The food quality was still good. However, some dishes are too pricey for what you get. At first, everything seemed fine -- we were seated, looked over the menu, and placed our drink orders. However, things quickly went downhill. When my drink arrived, the rim smelled strongly of hand sanitizer. The server who brought it also smelled like hand sanitizer, which made me believe she had touched the rim of my glass with her hands -- something that should never happen. After we finished our drinks, we received no refills. When the server came back, she told us we had to specifically ask for them. Even when she brought out the salads, she could clearly see our empty glasses but chose to ignore it. We ended up waiting what felt like hours for our food. At that point, we asked to speak to the manager. To our surprise, the manager defended the same poor service and also said we were responsible for requesting refills. No one from the staff checked on our table to see if we needed anything or if everything was okay. The service was disrespectful and inattentive from start to finish. On top of that, we were charged significantly more for fountain drinks than they should cost (they quoted a much higher price than the typical $2-$4 range). Their lack of care completely ruined a 10-year-old girl's birthday celebration that she had been so excited about. We never even received our entrées and had to leave, which meant a lot of food went to waste. Had someone simply apologized and made an effort to fix the situation by saying something like "I'm sorry, we're a little busy we'll try to do better," we might have stayed. Instead, the indifference and rudeness were completely unnecessary. We will not be returning. Very disappointed and upset that a special family occasion was handled so poorly
