I have been going there since I moved to Kentucky 12 years ago. Never had a bad meal there. They always treats us right.

The pizza de jour of downtown Frankfort wasn't anything amazing, but it was satisfying. The place is named for a dog whose pictures grace the walls, and the thick crust is likely one that would be happily devoured as table scraps by an onlooking canine. The cheese was greasy, but filling, and the sauce thin but a good contrast to its sharpness. A lunch special was offered with a small salad which was crisp, and a fountain drink which included the option for unsweetened tea. It was as crowded as anything in this rather small town, and I could see why as it was exactly the quick and filling lunch I was looking for. read more

Looking for an easy weeknight dinner while in downtown Frankfort and so glad to have found this treasure. Nice variety and selection of beers on tap and the independently owned & operated vibe that makes the place feel welcoming and inviting. Staff was so sweet and delivered everything to our table, periodically checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. What they delivered was a perfectly cooked thin crust pizza that made for a great meal. Sauce is rich and flavorful, crust has a great taste and texture. Living in Frankfort, I've ate here more than a dozen times. It's mediocre lunch food at best. A place to get a cheap lunch special: big slice of pizza, salad, and drink. None of it is stand out or even what I'd consider delicious. It's just a cheap, easy, convenient way to fill your belly at lunch time on a budget. Food is decent. Maybe even really good if you're hungry enough. But Don't expect a mind blowing slice of pizza because it's honestly not much better than a frozen box pizza. It is what it is... Service is always fast. We are able to get in and out in about 30-45 minutes on lunch breaks. Ambiance is what you'd expect of an old building in downtown Frankfort. Very nice pizza place in downtown Frankfort. Our host was super friendly which makes a huge difference when your sitting down to eat in a small hometown restaurant. The cuisine was very small town USA with local's photos of their fury companions on the wall. You can tell it's a local favorite. The pizza was quite excellent too. I have never been so disappointed with my experience at Buddy's pizza bought a 2 topping large pizza at 17.49 added an extra topping and it was mushrooms and the price was 24.89!!!!! Got carry out Tuesday,June 6th. The meat head pizza was great. The BBQ chicken pizza had maybe 6 little pinches of chicken. This was a $18 dollar ,small pizza. Little sauce,very poorly made. I recommend Buddys,but don't order the chicken BBQ pizza. You will be very disappointed. read more

Buddy's gives you the most bang for your buck when it's lunchtime in Frankfort. For under $5, you get an enormous slice of pizza (completely fills 2 paper plates, which is how they serve it) and a drink. For under $7, you can add a salad to your lunch. The pizza is on thin crust, and it's huge, so I always fold it in half to eat it. They only get 3 stars from me because I'm not a huge fan of the crust and the pizza is extremely greasy -- I always blot off the grease with a napkin, and sometimes use 2. It's a divey sort of place, but fun. There are pictures of people's pets on the walls, and also art by local artists and school children. The counter always has posters & postcards announcing upcoming Frankfort events. They sell Buddy's t-shirts that say "very local" on them. I'm not really sure what sets a "very" local place apart from a local place, but I won't argue with their claim. They do seem to go out of their way to represent the community. They're super busy at lunch, but usually quick. That's greatly appreciated since I love downtown Frankfort & usually have time on my lunch break to eat at Buddy's and then walk around the old Capitol or pop into Poor Richard's Books. I often even have time to stop by Coffeetree Cafe for a latte and a cookie (once you've eaten pizza, may as well splurge on a cookie too...). read more

I eat here frequently because I like it. I noticed another review that mentioned greasy pizza. Today I took home half my pizza (tomorrow's breakfast). I set the box on a white vest in the passenger's seat. There was absolutely no sign of grease or tomato sauce on my vest when I took the pizza inside. I'm a fan of thin crust and a pizza oven.
