Found this little gem hidden in Simpsonville and have been back twice. Both times service was great and food was exellent.

Holy cow!!! They did it, spot on Chicago style deep dish. I have been to several pizza spots in Chicago and this is on par with them. The crust is nice and crisp on top and sturdy enough to make it to your plate. Love that the first layer is cheese, then the toppings, followed by a chunky tomato sauce with a dusting of Parmesan. Take notice if you order carry out you need to cut it at home. Best way to transport Chicago deep dish. Order Gio... pizza delivery in Chicago once, asked for it to be cut, and got a hot mess in a box. Lol Tavern style is perfect as well, cut into perfectly odd shaped squares. Haha I have always ordered carry out but my brief interactions with the staff have been good. Gave me a water and kept it topped off while waiting. If you want to taste real Chicago style pizza without having to travel 5+ hours, eat here. read more

Can I be brave and say something controversial? The Detroit style pizza at Chi-Pis is better than the Chicago deep dish. I know, right?! But it's true. The deep dish didn't look bad, but the large amounts of sauce that are necessary for a dish this deep weren't thick enough and it came off as a lil wet. The thin crust, however, crispy, well portioned with toppings. Great! Service was great! However, I don't know how they cook the pies because each came out one at a time with several minutes between. This isn't a big deal with a party sharing food, but for our party that each ordered its own food, there was about 25-30 minutes between when the first person was served and the last. I... I was the last. And I was sad. The small pizza was enough for at least two meals for me. These are big pies! read more

So we ordered carry out and I asked before the call ended to leave the pizzas uncut. She told me that's the way they do it anyway which is a must for carry out deep dish, so good on them for that. My daughter had the spaghetti & meatballs which she enjoyed, and we ordered two deep dish pizzas. One was a sausage, mushroom & banana pepper and the other was a deep dish cheeseburger. The cheeseburger didn't have much flavor and was a little disappointing but the sausage, mushroom & banana pepper was very good. We also got an order of the stuffed bread which was delicious. When they tell you what each pizza feeds, they mean it and we'll be eating left overs for days. The parking lot isn't easy to navigate and pulling out onto 1848 can be tricky. Also our bill was almost $90.00 which seemed high for what we got. read more

Tried this place for the first time last night. It's rather small but we were able to snag an empty table. Ordered a couple beers, the bruschetta, and a deep dish Chi-Pie. Food was excellent and the service was even better. Our server was attentive, thorough, and we never had to ask for anything. Best service we've ever had at a sit-down restaurant, including fancy places like Jeff Ruby's, Malone's, and Volare. Looking forward to coming back and trying a Tavern Style pie. I was very excited to see we were getting a new restaurant. The first time I stopped by they were sold out and I know this happens sometimes when you're launching a new restaurant. This time we were able to sit down and eat. I ordered the tavern style pizza and a salad. My friend ordered the deep dish where the menu warns there is a 30 minute wait for a deep dish. The salad was very fresh, and the waitress was happy to accommodate my picky topping removal. The Tavern style pizza was delicious with a crispy crust. My friend's deep dish pizza ended up taking an hour. She was given a little over five dollars off of her order to accommodate the wait and the waitress apologized. Our server was really friendly and helpful. Although I do wish the bar had been open, because having a nice drink would've helped with the wait. We are definitely going to try to come back again because the food was great! Pro tip, call in pre-order your deep dish before you arrive. read more

Me, my mom and my brothers girlfriend got there a few minutes before they opened and there was just one group of maybe 6 or 7 people ahead of us. We wanted to order carry out so we sat at the bar. Very nice atmosphere! Clean, well decorated. Friendly and welcoming staff! My mom got the Mandarin Salad - delicious and very different! I forgot to take a picture of it but we did sub out the blue cheese for cheddar for personal preference. In total for pizza we got a small deep dish, large tavern style specialty bbq chicken, and large tavern style pepperoni and sausage. My brother's girlfriend also got some of the stuffed garlic bread (not pictured). Pizza was very tasteful as well. The pizza sauce tastes so fresh and organic! No artificial ingredients or junk! I think this place will see a lot of success! Everything was fresh and delicious. They do have their liquor license now as well so that's a plus if you are into that. Even considering the 30 minute wait for the deep dish (this is stated on the menu), along with it getting busier by the minute, to-go orders being placed and picked up, we were headed back to the car by 3:30! Chi Pie deserves more than 5 stars! They have a wonderful Mandarin Salad with a house made Mandarin Vinaigrette dressing. Really good! Also, the tavern style pizza was delicious! Glad we found this restaurant? Service was great also. We will definitely be back! read more

Placed an online order after not getting thru on the phone. Easy ordering on line. Parking is not the best. Only about 12 spots in the lot, the rest is street parking. Very nice inside. Full house when we picked up our pizza. Just one or 2 empty seats at the bar. Got the deep dish chi pie special with sausage. It did not disappoint. Lots of flavor. Our party of four arrived at 6pm on Saturday night. Walked in to a busy restaurant with only one (dirty) table available. There were four employees in the dining area (two behind the bar and two servers). Chi Pie - Worst & Most Expensive Pizza in Simpsonville!!! First: Your choices are, get a deep dish or a paper-thin crust. They say their Chi Pie specialty is Chicago Style Pizza. Based on my experience, I wonder if they have ever been to Chicago or ever had a Chicago Style Pizza. Ever!!! I tried their best pizza, Chicago Deep Dish ($46.00 for that mess) and picked olives (blk & grn), sausage, pepperoni, and cheese for my toppings. Well, turns out it is a high back thin crust pizza, overwhelmed with sauce to cover the fact of the extreme lack of toppings you are charged heavily for. Barely, and I mean barely any cheese. Meats were underneath all the tons of sauce (Pepperoni were soggy) next to the very soggy thin crust on the bottom that fell apart. Extreme thin side crust was brittle and broke easily. I barley got a piece out of the box and it was a mess doing so. BUT It was hot after 30 minutes of waiting. Seriously, THE WORST PIZZA I have ever had, and I am a pizza connoisseur. The WORST EXCUSE OF CHICAGO STYLE, ever AND to top it off. $46.00 for that mess. Just for a high-backed thin crust (Sauced) pizza. I've had Chicago pizza, and this was no Chicago pizza. Chicago native here, and I was unfortunately pretty disappointed. We ordered a deep dish pizza, a thin crust pizza, and the stuffed garlic bread. We made an online order and the site said our order would be ready at 6:33 PM. We show up at that time, and they inform us that it will be another HOUR before our order is ready and that the pick up time on the site is when they "start cooking our order." They either are making up excuses or they are not aware of what their website shows customers. So, we go back in an hour, and our order is just sitting on the counter. At that point, we realize they don't have any sort of warmer for their pizzas. We live only 7 minutes away from the store and our pizzas were not hot at all so they had clearly been sitting out for a while before we picked them up. The pizzas themselves were skimpy on toppings, and the deep dish pizza was not deep, had very, very little cheese, and the sauce was just chunks of tomato. The thin crust was better than the deep dish but there are better places to get thin crust around here. And then the stuffed garlic bread was just a hoagie roll with some cheese in it, barely tasted any garlic. To me, not worth the money or time to get take out here. read more

Visited with friends tonight and ended up closing the place down -- sorry about that! The food was outstanding, the drinks came out quickly, the wine was great, and the beer was ice-cold. What really stood out, though, was the service. A small issue popped up -- something we honestly wouldn't have noticed right away -- but our server, Lauren, caught it immediately and fixed it without us even saying a word. That level of attention says everything. Ignore the early negative reviews. Every new business needs time to settle in, and Chi Pie has clearly found its stride. We'll definitely be back. read more

So I am originally from Chicago. Nice place , good atmosphere. Let's start with the sauce 4.5 very good. Cheese also 4.5 good quality not greasy Sausage and toppings 4.5 solid very good! Get the sausage! That's what Chicago people eat. Crust 3 not terrible but definitely lacks on the right flavor. The crust is weakest part of the pizza. It's better in the deep dish than thin crust. Versus Louisville area pizza this deep dish pizza scores a 4.5. In Chicago this would be a 3.5. The thin crust vs Chicago would be a 3 the crust is the issue. Other food is solid 4 -4.5 on other things we had. Next visit we will try the pasta because it looked good! read more

We found this place while looking for a lunch spot close to home... maybe it was a bad day but the wait time was rough. The place wasn't packed but the time to order and receive the food was over an hour. One of our pizzas had to be remade due to not getting the order right. read more

The restaurant space was open and inviting. The menu had a lot of options (not just pizza) for fair prices. We got the spicy garlic bread appetizer which could have used a lot more jalapeños in it but the Marinara sauce was nice. Ordered a deep dish with sausage, onions, mushrooms, olives, pepperoni. It was very good. Lots of gooey cheese, the sauce was again fresh and lightly acidic to balance the richness of the cheese and toppings. Only thing I would change is the crust is more cracker-like than flakey/buttery like in Chicago, where I grew up. This is a very good pizza when comparing that to a original UNO's or other pizzerias in Chicago. Glad I found a place to get my fix for deep dish. read more

Me and my family came here yesterday and I gotta say i am impressed. That deep dish was so good my whole family said they loved and we would be coming back. The service was great, our sever was very nice to use even gave an apple juice on the rocks. Also this place used to be a restaurant but I don't even now if you could call it that because of how trashy it was. They now have really cool lights with nice flooring instead of no lights and dirt floors. 5/5 will be back. read more

Don't waste your money. Walked in at 6:45, ordered at 6:50 because it takes 30 minutes for a deep dish. We also ordered a thin crust. At 7:30 they brought us out a thin crust pizza but it wasn't what we ordered. At 7:50 we got the thin crust we ordered but half of it was not cut. A little later our deep dish came to the table. It wasn't hot and they were very stingy on the ingredient. It had very little cheese. We had to ask for refills several times. they seemed to prioritize the carry out pizzas. They did not discount the bill for the wait or the poor service. The experience cost $80+ dollars. I will not go back and I will tell my friends about the experience. The ambiance was lacking they had 1 small television with the U of L game on it. So I will say don't bother Jeptha Creed has better pizza a couple of miles down the road. read more
