Visited for the first time recently! Very well run restaurant, Sophia was an excellent server, very personable and polite with our food changes! Many restaurants we have had problems and attitudes about this. There were 3 of us one had the Sweet Crepe La Melba with Strawberries and ice cream, I was drooling looking at it! We will definitely come back for this crepe either for breakfast or have it for dessert soon! The rest of us order the Savory La Veggie Vegetarian Crepe, it was delicious (hit our crepe craving we've been having!) contained perfectly cooked fresh veggies and nicely decorated with fresh Hollandaise! I'm low sodium and this wonderful meal was not laden with salt! Which is a fantastic perk for those of us on strict diet. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. We will be back! I was craving a good French breakfast, and since my favorite spot was closed, I Googled crepes and this café popped up. So off we went! It's located in a nice shopping center, and the space itself was clean and welcoming. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. My daughter ordered an iced cappuccino and the salmon eggs Benedict. I went with a warm cappuccino and the traditional French breakfast, which comes with your choice of a croissant or a chocolatine (chocolate croissant) I opted for the chocolate croissant along with French bread, butter, and jam. My daughter loved her meal--she said the salmon was perfectly cooked and everything tasted delicious. Her drink was also a hit. My experience, however, was a bit mixed. I had asked for my chocolate croissant and French bread to be warmed, but when they arrived, they were cold--like straight-from-the-fridge cold, not just room temp. The butter that came with it was also hard and cold, so I couldn't spread it on the bread at all. That was disappointing, especially since the rest of the breakfast had potential. All in all, the service was great and the setting was nice, but I wish more care had been taken in warming up my food as requested. I'd still give it another try for the crepes, just with different expectations next time. read more

In a rare turn of events, my husband and I ordered the same breakfast, and that was a mis-step. The restaurant is in a strip mall with a ton of parking. It's easy to get to. We were told we could sit wherever we liked and our orders were taken very quickly and our food came out pretty quickly too. The waitstaff was very kind and did a great job. The place settings were really cute. I didn't love that the decor were displays of random french things...but my husband liked that. My husband got a machiatto that he thought was weird. He doesn't quite know what he thought was wrong though. I very much liked the La Chicken Crepe, I liked the mix of potatoes and chicken and the bechamel. My husband did not really like it. And neither of us could finish ours. We should have gotten two different crepes. Oh well. Overall it was a a decent experience. Was so excited to go to a French café as they are few and far between. What a disappointment. There was a very friendly server, but unfortunately, she was not assigned to us. Our immediately scolded my guest for not paying attention to what she had told her about the menu. The ham and Swiss sandwich had exactly one slice of ham. We tried the French onion soup, which was greasy and underwhelming. The sandwiches were OK. Cappuccino pretty milky. Chocolate mousse was the best of the day. Delicious French spot! Tasty cappuccino and French breakfast. Server tried to offer me cheap HFCS packaged jelly, apparently you have to ask for marmalade, which was much better. So I have visited here several times. By far, this is my mother's current favorite restaurant. I have had the American breakfast, salads, dinner entrees and desserts with coffee. Chez Cani, 6375 N. Wickham Road, Suite 108, Melbourne, Florida 32940- 1-Star Chef Nico, who came with his Wife, Carine (Carine + Nicolas = Cani), and children to America from Bordeaux, France, is an inventive creative chef, or so it says on the Chez Cani website. If Nico wants to continue to portray this image, however, then his restaurant should NOT have an open kitchen. I ordered La Melba Crepe and watched as it was improperly prepared by Nico, which resulted in a rubbery mess. But what I found most offensive about the whole "French" arrogance exuded by Nico is that he took a plastic bottle of Hershey's Strawberry Flavored Syrup and drizzled it all over my crepe--I mean from the actual Hershey's bottle--No attempt was even made to conceal the label. The Chez Cani website states, "All ingredients are selected for their quality and origin. Here we do not negotiate with taste and quality. Because YOU deserve the best." Oh, really? When did Hershey, Pennsylvania become a part of France? My jaw dropped. I tapped my lunch companion on the hand and asked him to look at what Chef Nico was doing. Being a cynical Millennial, he laughed out loud, shook his head, and with a straight face said, "I think they are cutting corners." Julia, the daughter, was our serveuse. No complaints about her service, but as we drove home, instead of the typical bavardage about politics and world events, we mulled over the Hershey's syrup situation for the full 20-minute ride. I wanted to get a quote for this review, so I called Chez Cani an hour later. Nico answered the phone in perfect English. When I asked about his use of Hershey's syrup, he snarled something in French that I couldn't make out and slammed down the phone. I typically get the savory crepes, but tried out their croque Madame this last time. It was delicious and they cooked the runny egg perfectly!! The latte was also very good and strong favored! I went back for breakfast and tried the Meat Lover Crepe ($14) with another Cappuccino. The Crepe was made from buckwheat flour and all together it reminded me of the meat lover style of pizza. It was very tasty and FLAVORFUL without being too salty. Together with the Cappuccino it was a very satisfying meal. I will return to try some of their sweet Crepe creations soon. read more

Didn't like their pricing! Ordered an omelet . Had to pay extra to get a few bits of chopped tomato. ($2.00). It came with a salad, which I didn't want. Waitress said I could substitute French fries.She neglected to tell me I would be charged $2.95 . Plus I paid for a salad I didn't get.and didn't want. Also had to pay cash or pay $1.11 more to charge It. Poor way to conduct business. The only other place that does that is a gas station. Not right! Will not return and will tell everyone I know. As a restauranteur and chef I am impressed with the food (especially croissants) found at ChezCani in the heart of Viera. Although coming from such a background, I was very dissatisfied with the service. Our waitress Vivica was someone we were stuck with for both visits and both times she maintained a certain passive aggressiveness and lack of knowledge for the food she's responsible to sell. I hope the Chef re-trains her on the menu but for her service I'm afraid there might not be a rescue. The chefs food 9/10 Her particular service would be a solid 1-2/10 Best of luck for anyone stuck with her as a waitress. Really disappointed in the food. I ordered the Duck Breast With Foie Gras Sauce and Vegetables and my wife had the Beef Burgundy with Fresh Pasta. The first bite of the duck was the hardest thing I ever had to chew. Like a piece of rubber. I thought it would get better as I got to the core of the duck breast but it only got worse. My assessment, as it seemed like it was cooked correctly based on the looks of the inside, is that it was previously frozen, then the staff microwaved it to thaw it out before putting on the grill. Nothing would be that tough if it were fresh. I've had plenty of duck before and this is by far the worst I've ever had, especially for the price. I didn't even have it in me to feed the rest of it to our dog. I was hoping I was the only one that lost tonight with this dinner but unfortunately my wife's plate struck out too. Extremely bland, no sauce, just noodles and meat. Really upsetting as this was our anniversary dinner and went off all the good reviews this restaurant has. We'll have to try again at another establishment. Their reply is ".......The duck breast is fresh and we do not use the microwave on any step . You should have call the restaurant directly and let the chef know that way he could have fixed any issues." No way the duck was not frozen. Wife and I both agreed and shame on you for making the onerous on us to call you after paying so much money, while your closed, after such a bad experience. It was really good but could have used more cheese. Another customer ordered a bowl and it seemed to be filled with cheese. It was really tasty regardless. I ordered a crepe and quiche. The quiche, which was good, came with a simple but tasty salad. The crepe was delicious. The crepe brûlée was really good as well.
