Nice ambiance and love the location of this place. I also appreciated being greeted by the manager of the restaurant which always tells me things are well managed. We spent a little over $300 for dinner for 2 adults and 1 child and the food was prepared well and tasted amazing. We ordered the Baked Brie and scallops which was the best 2 bites of the meal. Everything else was excellent just these 2 really stood out. Tomato bisque was incredible along with the lamb. The wife ordered the mahi mahi which was the special of the day and unfortunately was seriously overcooked. I figured this was a special and not something they cook regularly hence not having complete mastering of preparing this fish. Here are my only comments for why I gave a 4 star vs 5 star: 1. The portions are huge and normally this shouldn't be a problem but the chef would do better to cut the portions literally by 50%. By the time the entree came along I was already stuffed since everything was super yummy and I couldn't really stop eating. The sides were absolutely enormous for each dish lol. 2. Service was very good but I wish someone would've came around to clean up the crumbs on the table top. Also, the plates were large due to portions which made it very difficult to fit all the servings on the table. I would recommend using a plate riser to fix this issue or make the portions smaller and use smaller plates. We had a problem with having enough room on the table. 3. Our server was super nice and awesome. It must've been a shift change and I saw her leave and didn't let us know so I wasn't sure how best to tip since I really appreciated her service. I would hope next time to let patrons know this so we can take care of staff accordingly during a shift change. Also on another side note, I love lamb chops and unsure how the chef prepared it but somehow was able to mask the full taste of lamb. This is neither a positive or negative just an observation and personal preference. I tend to enjoy the taste of lamb while others may not. I have to laud the skill of the chef for their skill in doing so since this was a 1st time experience for me for not being able to taste distinct lamb flavor in lamb chops. Altogether a memorable experience and my critique is based on attention to detail which I feel this restaurant would've been perfect if these 3 items fell better into place for us. The quality of food and price for the portions blew us away in a positive way and even though we spent $300 on dinner we thought this was very reasonable given the large portions and quality ingredients and yummy cocktails. read more

Impeccable service and excellent food. I had an omelet for lunch and it was delicious, and excellent value for the money. Then I had duck for dinner, and it was really good. I had not eaten at Cafe Margaux in 20 years! So long ago I don't even remember the experience. But my mom, sister, and I found ourselves wandering around Cocoa Village on a Monday to celebrate mom's birthday, and wouldn't you know--nearly all the restaurants were closed! We saw that Cafe Margaux was open and thought, why not, it's a celebration. The restaurant is located in the back of the building's courtyard. The interior is beautiful. Very old-school, classic fine dining. White tablecloths, upscale finishes, the whole nine yards. If you choose to eat outside, there is a gorgeous tree providing additional shade over the tables with umbrellas and a soothing water feature. The menu is very traditional European, and they offer many lunch deals, including daily entrees, daily soups, daily quiches, and daily crepes. I had the crepe, and it was fantastic. Mom and sis loved their meals as well. Their cocktails were also classic, but exciting. Perhaps the best part of Cafe Margaux is the service. The server staff works as a well-oiled machine, and we were very well taken care of. I'm sure we've all experienced the dissonance of dining out at what LOOKS like an upscale meal, only to deal with inattentive or dysfunctional service. Thankfully, the service matches the ambiance. Cafe Margaux is a great place for a date night or lunch. With its location right next to the Cocoa Village Playhouse, I'm sure it's a good place to grab a bite before or after a show. The staff are pleasant and present to help with all your needs. I have been to quite a few expensive fancy places to eat, and it's just something different and more personal with these folks. For the entrée;, we both chose the beef tenderloin cubes, served on a skewer with a beautiful presentation and show by our server. Mash potatoes were creamy, the gravy had a wonderful rich cognac flavor, and the vegetables were soft, flavorful and firm. For dessert, we had a delicious cappuccino, and tried the pecan pie and chocolate cake with homemade whip and sprinkles! The Brie was the best of the whole meal. Then it was down hill after that. We celebrated my birthday here and did not have a candle in my dessert like the table next to me who was celebrating a birthday too. This was a special occasion and was noted in the reservation. My husband had the melange trio of fresh seafood. The salmon was very fishy and the other fish were very dry. We had the amaretto cake and there was no amaretto flavor and it was very dry. We had the manager stop by several times to ask how everything was. We did not want to complain about everything at that time since it was my birthday and did not want to order anything different. The food is always good at Cafe Margaux. They are probably the priciest place in the area, but, as long as the food, service and ambiance are great, price is not a deterrent. Service is really dependent on who you get as a server - had some really good ones, but also a snooty one here and there. The biggest issue - and I don't know how you fix this at their current location - is the noise level inside. They have essentially separate rooms, that are not very big; ceilings are also low and tables are close to each other, which means that if you're in the same room with a party that is even moderately loud, you literally can't carry a conversation at your own table. The bar area is small and cramped as well, so that's not an option. Best alternative is the patio, unless it's muggy or rainy. There used to be a time where this was the best place to take someone for a special occasion - thankfully, there are alternatives these days. read more
