BIG SCAM.....STAY AWAY..... The yelp review rating made me atleast give them a star because it should be a ZERO. Vida the person I dealt with on the phone was totally unprofessionial. I wanted to order a dress over the phone - she said she has it in stock in a wine color - when it came time to place an order she wanted a $300 deposit. I gave her my credit card - 3 days later she calls me and says the dress is only in stock in silver not wine. I said i wasnt interested in the silver dress - she said no problem I will refund the $300 I charged to the card. When I called her again after 10 days - she said "NO YOU ORDERED THE SILVER DRESS YOU MUST PAY FOR IT" - I refused to be talked to like that - she started screaming on the phone like a Lunatic......I ended up calling my AMEX company to dispute the charges - they instantly refunded my money. 3 days later she charged the same card another $850 for the balance of the dress out of spite because I got my deposit back from the bank. STAY AWAY - SHE IS A CROOK - SHE BELONGS ON THOSE "CH 7 ON YOUR SIDE SHOWS BECAUSE SHE STEALS FROM CUSTOMERS. I had gone into this store with my mother last year. Needed to find a dress that was appropriate for an event coming up soon (long gown/long sleeved). The saleswoman helped me find a few dresses and started a fitting room, but soon became impatient as I was browsing and let me know she couldn't be off the floor for too long& that I had dresses already. I had been on the phone with my mom and was letting her know I had a few options & it seemed like the woman kept getting more and more impatient so I decided to come downstairs and try on my dresses. She was not attentive at all and none of the dresses were my size (and to be honest not what I had desired) and I thanked the woman who told me to bring my mother next time ( for what? I'm 26 years old -granted I look like a high schooler). Right before I left I had noticed another customer try on two gorgeous expensive dresses that she said she could not afford and because I was in a rush to go inquired about the brand name of the dresses. I have other events to go to (& frankly I can afford the dresses). The woman refused to let me take a photo or know the brand of the dress and said that she got yelled at because I was taking photos of myself in the gowns I tried on (I mean seriously).Not sure what kind of customer service and business they are running here. My experience here was great until it was time to checkout. We had an amazing worker help find a beautiful dress but once it was time to pay the owner who works the register was very rude and pushy. Tried to rush me into just paying for the dress full on and didn't even give me the option of lay away I read it on the wall and asked about it. Yes its true Cruella De Vil also know as Vida owns Chez Moi. She is the meanest and nastiest sales person on the whole street. When you are buying something from her it feels like she is doing you a favor when she is selling it to you.....yes it should be the other way around! I was getting married in the beginning of September and needed a suite for one of the events. I ordered it on August 14...she told me it will arrive the first week of September. I go to her at the end of August she kicks me out of her store telling me I am too early. I go to her couple of days before the event she says she does not have it. She made me very upset, and I promised her that I will rant about it on every website and blog! Here I am today! Save your money! I would NEVER purchase a dress from here. In March of 2017 i purchased a dress, it was never mentioned to me that it was final sale. I was able to exchange the dress that I purchased in red to white. After a month and a half I decided to go to the store to find out what as happening with my dress and I was told that they were trying to contact me about the dress but I never received a call one because my number was written incorrectly and my mothers number was on their copy of the receipt and they never tried to get in contact with her. I was told my dress would not arrive until July and my Prom is June 8 2017. They gave me the opportunity to find another dress or to get a refund. I looked around the store and did not see anything that I liked. So i went through with the return. It is now OVER a MONTH and I still did not get my money. It's funny reading everyone elses reviews because they are all true (except for the person that gave them 4/5 stars - must be someone from the store). ...and I thought I was the only one that had a horrible experience - THIS PLACE HAS THE WORST OWNER AND SHE IS SO RUDE!!! They have Unless you have some street smarts, do not enter - they try to take advantage of you and you need to know how to fight with them if you want to get the item you paid for. This is the worst I have ever been treated at a store in my life. They took part in a street fair and had some sale items for $5 and $10. I was planning on buying two $10 items but wanted to try them on since they were pants. They acted like they were doing me a HUGE favor by letting me enter the store to try them on, and once i went to pay the owner wanted to charge $20 each. She was incredibly rude and acted like she was doing me a favor by letting me buy anything from her. I bought one pair and paid her the $20 she asked which was already an abuse. I went outside and double checked if they weren't actually $10. They told me they were $10 but they acted too afraid of this owner lady to contradict her. At this point, THE OWNER ACTUALLY CAME OUTSDE AND RIPPED THE PANTS OFF MY HANDS AND TOLD ME THEY WERE NO LONGER FOR SALE, THREW THE $20 AT ME AND WENT BACK INSIDE. This only for asking!! Service at this high end boutique stinks. Owner has the attitude that she doesn't need to assist or be bothered by anyone that she does not know. I had been alone in the store for 10 minutes and was never greeted. When someone walked in that was known, she was immediately greeted, but I was never approached or asked if I needed assistance, I just wandered. Owner caters only to her regulars and I assume that is why she is still there. Guess she is not interested in new business as I would have liked to buy, but felt insulted that I did not warrant her attention. The only reason this place is getting one star is because I can't put anything lower, and because they have a decent selection of dresses. The owner is the absolute worst. She is so rude EVERY time I walk in there. My mother was trying to find a dress for my brothers wedding, so she went in here two times within about three weeks, so the lady knows us. The owner was helping another customer while my mom quietly looked through the dresses upstairs. The lady finishes with the customer and basically told my mother that she had to leave because it was hot up there and she was closing the upstairs. She said that they hadn't gotten anything new since my mom was last there and to come back in JULY (2 months away) because that's when they would get a new shipment in. My mother explained to her that her store has a large selection of dresses and that she wanted to browse to see get some idea for a possible dress to wear. The owner then told her she was closing the upstairs, even though my mom still wanted to look, then the lady continued to mumble under her breath about God only knows what. All in all, she is rude and doesn't know how to be courteous to customers. If anything, she should be happy that she is getting returning customers. * I would not give this store any stars if I didn't have too. My daughter and I went to this store in the attempt to find a prom dress. We arrived like around 6pm as we drove 1 hour away from where we live and quickly started looking around their collection of dresses. We were approached by a young lady who at first was really nice and helpful. After telling her the style of the dress we were looking for and our budget she pulled out a few dresses. My daughter went into the fitting room to try on each dress. As we are waiting for my daughter to come out the young lady starts saying "what time is it?" "Oh I have been here all day I am tired". My daughter comes out to show me how the dress fits. We don't like it and goes back to try the second dress. The young lady starts pacing around and asks my daughter ok do like the second dress? My daughter answers no. This time the young lady says "oh you really need to hurry up we are closing soon". So I ask the young lady what time do you close. She answers 7pm. I look at my watch it's 6:30pm. Rolling my eyes. Finally, my daughter likes one dress but it's over our budget. So I ask if they can do better on the price. She says yes let's go talk to the owner. We go to talk to the owner to only find a rude and unpleasant women who was more interested in getting us out of the store then making a sale. But since my daughter really liked the dress I held my composure and finally made an agreement to the price with these unprofessional women. I put a deposit on the dress and went back two weeks later to make the final payment and pick up the dress. As we walk in the same young lady is there standing by the register and on the phone. She sees us come in but does not greet or make any acknowledgement of our presence. By the way she was on a personal call. So we wait to be helped. After a few minutes finally another women comes out to assist us. But she needed to get the young lady attention to ask her a question on the dress and got so totally annoyed that she was interrupted that she lashed out on this women. I felt so terrible for this woman helping me that I couldn't wait to leave this store. Well finally after leaving the store and taking that 1 hour drive back home. I ask my daughter to try on the dress with the new shoes to realize the dress still had the alarm on and I now have to go back to get it removed. This whole experience has been awful. Service- horrendous. They truly know how to make a shopping experience as terrible and miserable as possible. The do not understand what the words: polite, courteous, professional, nice, or friendly mean. Nor were they taught to smile or even acknowledge individuals when they were children (this is obvious, since this is not an innate reaction for them- yet is to all other normal people). I was in desperate need for a gown for a wedding. I knew exactly what I wanted. I saw that this boutique was a re-seller for Jovani gowns and was a big fan of their work. I went here with a friend. We got there at 7. The owner said she will stay open for a for more minutes. I began trying on due to the time crunch. The owner was very pushy and made me try on more dresses than I wanted to and dresses that I did not like. She told me & my friend no pictures. Fine. I did not see a sign listed. Indeed we had our phones out because we did not walk with much personal belongings but we listened to the owner. At the end, I told the owner I would be back with my husband to show him a specific dress that I wanted to potentially purchase but needed alterations (she also said alterations is done by someone else and not their?). Besides her rude and pushy behavior, before completely exiting the store, and stating that I would come back with my husband, the owner accused me and my friend of taking pictures of everything and to not come back. How rude of her was that? I do not recommend going to this place. I went down the block to the OZ Boutique which had very similar dresses and spent all of my money with them who gave me a million percent great service! TOO BAD FOR HER! I saw the owner come out of the store, and before we noticed her approaching us, she had snatched the pair of "paid" jeans out of my friend's hands, returned the payment by sticking the $20-bill back into her hands, while saying... I haven't been to the store in years, probably not since I was a young teenager accompanied by my mother. I've never noted any rude or snobby behavior at that time, however my most recent trip there was ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. Being a 22 year old adult I was there by myself. After a few of minutes of being in the store I had to walk right out due to the ill-mannered interaction on behalf of the employee. It appears that this woman lacks the ability to be courteous, while I was in the store holding a dress I was interested in she in a very tasteless way stated how that particular item was $1,000 and not available to try on unless you were certain you wanted to purchase it. I ignored that statement, although I was offended by her assumption that I couldn't afford the dress and continued to browse around. (If I couldn't afford that price range, then I certainly wouldn't waste my time going into that store). As I was about to walk to their upstairs section to look at more dresses she once again in an impolite way made a comment saying " you can't try on dresses without a parent present", I calmly responded to her that I was 22 years old, but the dirty look she gave me and the way she stared at me after and just walked away like bratty child was the final straw. Needless to say I walked right out and will most likely never recommend that store to anyone, for they do not deserve customers if they are not willing to show a little something called CUSTOMER SERVICE. There are two other lovely boutiques on Austin St with the same quality and brands of dresses just down the block that know how properly interact with customers that I will gladly do business with. My complaint is of a different nature. My wife worked for Chez Moi for approx 2 weeks in late August, early September. After her first day she came home astonished! She said she can't imagine how they've been in business so long with the rude, disrespectful, and racist service given to their customers. Nothing any different from other reviews you've read here. But after working a week my wife went in to get paid and was given a sealed envelope by the owner. My wife opens the envelope to see that the money is short approximately $25. My wife asks about the discrepancy and the owner says she's busy and she'll give it to her next pay period. Another employee says that happens to her all the time, but she doesn't complain because she needs the job. The following week when my wife goes in to get paid, not only is the $25 not added, the current week's pay is short $20 as well! Granted, $45 is not a lot of money. But if you've been in business since 1979, consistently hiring employees off the books, a slightly cheating them out of their well deserved wages... Can you imagine how much money this woman is pocketing? I can only assume from my observation that she's hiring people that may not have papers or who are in destitute financial situations to lessen the chance of complaints. She pays cash, off the books which is illegal as well. Now the reason why I'm posting complaint is because justice needs to be served. I suggested my wife file an official complaint with the Department of Labor, but she doesn't want to rock the boat for the nicer staff of ladies who work there and really need the job to survive. She is a mom/housewife who was looking to get out of the house and work part time when school started. This is not a disgruntled angry ex employee rant. I am a manager for All-Star Moving & Storage, Brooklyn, NY (BBB accredited) and my wife is the co-owner (she and her father) of Romantique Boutique which served the Jackson Heights area for nearly 30 years, and since early 2000 has been successfully doing business in the Doral area of Miami, FL. Again, this is not about the money, but simply the principle. People like this don't deserve the privilege of doing business in such a high end, high volume neighborhood. What an incredibly awful experience--please do not waste your time. I was quoted a price on a gown and asked if I could come the following day to pick it up. The next day, the owner tells me I can't see it and proceeds the leave the store. She left instruction with her saleswoman to quote me a price approx $100 dollars higher than what she had quoted me the day before. I went in to browse at dresses. Not that it matters, but I usually shop for special occasions with luxury brands such as dolce or Oscar de la renta. Unfortunately I haven't lost baby weight in time so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a dress for a wedding and thought I would check out dresses that were priced significantly less. When I walked in I was ignored. The lady that worked there then yelled at me bc I had her cheap dress drag on the floor just for a second. Of course I would never just let it drag on the floor regardless the price I just needed to rest my arm for a second! Then when I needed to ask questions the woman was on the phone the entire time speaking super loud and clearly was on a personal call. Store looks like super disorganized and cluttered. Service is one of the worst I've ever witnessed. Selection is also very tacky. I honestly am shocked that this place remains open. Who shops here? Maybe owners friends? Maybe they are nicer to them? If a negative rating was an option, that's what I would give this place. We traveled out here from NJ twice to order then pick up a dress. Prior to making the sale, the owner Vida was super sweet & helpful. We even fell for her upsell tactics, buying $50 shoes for $150,etc... When the dress came in, the zipper was defective & Vida tells us to just put some soap on the zipper of a $700 dress. This is all just for starters. To get a true size 10US, we had to order a size 14 which still came in at a measured 30in waist size. My mom being so excited about her dress allowed Vida to convince her that it fit perfectly, Oh & coincidentally her tailor was too busy to work on the dress now so my mom had to use her own. Long story short, our seamstress didn't want to touch the dress between the zipper malfunctioning & the dress not being the proper size meaning excessive alterations on an already very expensive dress. When my mother called to tell her the situation, sweet old Vida suddenly turns into Cruella, saying the seamstress doesn't know what she's talking about, putting us on hold several times, not coming back to the phone, finally saying the only thing she would do is order 1 size up, but was VERY nasty about it, not willing to give any details knowing that our event is less than 3 weeks away. She truly got nastier by the moment refusing to have a conversation then after being placed on yet another long hold AND forced to listen to her schmooze with a customer like she had done to us, she comes back & literally shouts 'What do you want? I have customers, do you think I'm going to spend time talking to you?" then proceeds to hang up the phone. So now we are left not knowing when or if she is really going to reorder the dress. I am still literally in shock at her Jekyll & Hyde routine and cannot believe we are dealing with this at this late stage. Most people spend so much money on a dress only because of a special occasion which Vida had no problem dismissing & diminishing in a blink of an eye once she was paid. I took my younger cousin prom dress shopping and we stopped here becuase a friend told me that Chezmoi usually carries some really nice dresses. The dresses were beatuiful, but the atitutide of the people working there is not. She asked us a few questions and told us to come back with our mothers when we are ready to buy something. She also told us to do our research before we come back! My cousin had an idea of what she was looking for, but I guess that wasnt good enough, especially after she told us she doesnt have any dresses in the color my cousin was looking for. I give this place absolutely no stars. I went in with my friends today, we were all looking for a prom dress, and we weren't too happy with the selection they had on the first floor, so my friend noticed there was a second floor where people were looking around. We started to go up the stairs and the woman at the desk yelled at us to get down, that we weren't allowed to go up there because we weren't going to buy anything and we would just cause trouble. All of us went in there with more than enough money for a dress, and it was incredibly ignorant of her to say such a thing. Would not give any stars if I didn't have to. You're much better off going to Soleil next door. The men that work there are absolutely wonderful, super helpful, and hilarious. I got my dream prom dress there for under $400 dollars. I went to Chez Moi located on Austin street in Forest Hills to look for a dress for a party I'm going to attend. I was amazed at all of the beautiful dresses they have, but was even more amazed to hear the stuff that was coming out of the manager's or owners mouth. She was extremely helpful in the beginning by recommending dresses for me, but after I tried them on she would make comments about my body which made me extremely uncomfortable. If your trying to sell dresses, I would imagine you wouldn't make negative comments towards your customers. As I was trying the dresses on, she would complain about her workers, saying that one particular worker should have been a blonde because she is so stupid. All she did was complain, mumble in English and Farsi and talk down to her workers. She was very unprofessional. At one point, one of her workers asked her where to put a stack of dresses, and she responded by saying in a condescending tone right here, why do you think I just made room here? To dance? It's very obvious this lady is very unhappy with her life and takes it out on her workers as well as her customers. I ended up not purchasing anything, the atmosphere was extremely negative and I didn't want to give business to a lady with such disgusting manners. read more

I bought the dress for my son's wedding here 6 years ago and did not have a problem at that time but boy how things have changed. This past spring/summer I was shopping for a dress for another son's wedding in September and besides the fact that they have a large selection of dresses I will never set foot in that store again. I was into the store browsing through the dresses just trying to get a feel for what I was looking for....I still had a lot of time to buy a dress for the wedding. That was in early May. Now It's the end of May and I went back to the store one afternoon and went upstairs to look again. Now after visiting other dress shops I had a better feel for what I was looking for and Chez Moi is not far from my house so I decided to give them another look. I have to say that I never came across a more rude person while shopping. I was the only one upstairs looking at dresses and this woman comes over (she remembered me from my first visit) and tells me that she's closing the upstairs because it's too hot and I've been there before and didn't find anything. Well any mother of the bride or groom knows that you are not going to make a decision the first time you go shopping. Anyway, I explained to her that I'm looking for a dress for my son's wedding and I wasn't sure what I was looking for the first time I came into the shop. She told me to come back tomorrow. I said "excuse me but I'm here now and I want to look through the dresses". She then states that it's too hot and she doesn't want to be up here sweating (I don't need her over my shoulder anyway). I told her she was very rude and asked who was the owner. She told me that she was. I couldn't believe it. How can you be so rude to a potential customer, especially since I bought a dress there before. I told her she had not customer service skills and how dare she be so nasty. I then informed her that I was going to go on her site and give a bad review. Suddenly, she was a little nicer and asked what I was looking for. I gave her the info on a dress that I saw and tried on someplace else which is a lot farther from my house. She looked it up and told me it isn't out yet and to come back mid June. She didn't believe me that I saw the exact same dress in another shop. I then left the store and never returned. I found a beautiful dress elsewhere where the people were much nicer. How she is still in business is a mystery! I know a few people that had similar experiences with her. My niece wanted to buy a pair of shoes and when asked to try on a pair they told her they will only bring them out if she was really interested in buying them. How are you supposed to know until you try them on. She left the store! Do yourself a favor and don't patronize this place. read more
