It was still very new and they were working through their liquor license and inventory, but our server was able to accommodate and explain the drink and food menu and options incredibly well. We shared family style to get to try a bunch of dishes and everyone's hands down fav app was the escargot and main was the daily catch! They did an awesome job on decor and making it feel like we were in a chic upstairs Parisian apartment but with a kitchen. Sad to.discover this restaurant has closed. I guess the rent was too high and the other obstacles just made it too hard for the business to make it. It is a shame, the place was good with a good menu and had a cool ambiance. French food is one of the mother cuisines, but it does seem to be less French restaurants these days. My friend and I love French food! However we are not fond of seafood. Even though the menu had a lot of seafood, this place offered other items. We enjoyed the complimentary cup of smothered frites chips. At least that's what we called them. We split the salad and the Spinach Bucatini Pasta. Both were delicious! The French Martini didn't disappoint and was not too sweet. Service was great. The place did remind us of France as the seating is tight and they offer outside seating too! read more

As we await the grand opening of City Food Hall (formally Hall on the Yard) in Ivanhoe Village, we are pleased to welcome one of many great eateries/restaurants in this reimagined food hall: Chez les Copains!! It is a French cuisine based restaurant that will also be the only full service restaurant at City Food Hall. It is located on the second floor of City Food Hall. It has the cutest French inspired decor with great views of The Yard. A perfect date night spot with not only a fine dining experience should you choose to go with the chef-curated menu but they also offer an affordable menu with a la Carte options if you rather just have a few items versus a fully curated coursed meal. Either way, you get the best of both worlds without having to break the bank. The staff is inviting and friendly. Our waiter, when I went a couple weekends ago with some friends for their soft opening, was super knowledgeable and very attentive. While they don't quite yet have their liquor license - which I am sure will change in the coming months - you are allowed to bring wine of your choice that will be chilled upon request and poured by your waiter. There is no corking fee - which is great. Some places do charge that, so, fret not in that department. Please do note, that gratuity is automatically included in your bill. Nonetheless, if you rather not bring a wine of your choice, then they have a wonderfully curated alcohol free cocktail menu alongside other beverages. As for the food itself, it was all very delish! I am not a big French cuisine girly - as my impressions with French cuisine the one time I visited Paris was bland to say the very least. So, I was looking forward to changing that viewpoint and enjoying French food. While this restaurant is French inspired, their dishes infuse other flavor profiles which I believe helped shift my viewpoints. To start, the Crab Croquette was to DIE FOR!! I wish it was plated with two or three croquettes but alas you get one. Between the croquette itself, the sauce, and the citrus finish, I was literally in heaven with one bite!! I'd go back alone just for those!! For my entree, I had the Spinach Bucatini Pasta. It was quite tasty but I must add, the day after (because I had leftovers), it was even more delicious. As a leftover girly, it's a true testament when a dish makes it the next day and it still tastes good!! So, good on the cooks!! They really put their hands to work on that pasta. Also, if you are not a meat eater, this selection is a great choice. It's a solid amount of food too lfor a great price point. Paired all this with a glass Rosé (because I love Rosé wine and not because I was trying to curate my wine pairings to the dishes offered). Anyways, I enjoyed both my selections. I'd totally go back and when I do, I plan to try the steak as my friends said the steak was CHEF'S KISS!! So, I'm looking forward to that! If you have not been to this cute restaurant, go and treat yourself!! Whether for a date night, a girl's night or just a solo dinner date, Chez les Copains is a must. Such a cute new place to go! Great French restaurant to add to Orlando. The mocktails were delicious. The bone marrow with the steak tartare was to die for. The escargot was so soft and the garlic butter was amazing. Next till I'll ask for more bread to dip in it. The servers were very attentive and if they didn't have the answer they definitely found out. We got to meet the chef that night and what a treat. The side of potatoes with smoked cream cheese is not to be missed. My duck dish was delish but my skin was a little chewy was hoping for more crispy. Ches les Copains has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. I am writing this bc of the 20% service charge added for a party of 2! None of the three people who waited on us disclosed this. I left a 20% tip bc I did not expect it. Should I hv looked closer? Yes. However at these prices for a "treat yourself" restaurant, you shouldn't be hunting for this kind of fine print. It took a few points off the happy meter this morning. read more

I went to the preview night of Chez Les Copains, a French brasserie, hosted at the Bar Kada location. The actual restaurant will open in the City Food Hall and should be within the next month or so. The tasting menu preview was fun but I'm more excited about their actual a la carte menu since I like being able to pick what I want to try. Service was good but it was by the Bar Kada team so it will be a different team when their actual restaurant open. I really like the concept and I would order the Duck a l'range again and again. We tried this new French spot for the first time last night for girls night and we plan to go back from brunch in the near future. It is located above The Yard Food Hall so it's a bit tricky to find as you enter from the back and go up the stairs (they did have cute lamps on the stairs to lead the way so we at least knew we were going the right way.) It is a fancy, cute spot that's great for date night if you are looking for some authentic French food and even the furniture feels like you're in Paris. They have tables for two out on the patio and inside are bigger options. The hostess placed napkins on our lap upon being seated and the menu is partly in French. It is very seafood heavy and definitely a little on the expensive side. They are still working on getting their liquor license so we brought our own wine. They start you off with a complimentary snack of fried potato skins with creme and cheese. My favorite item of the night was the blue cheese mussels and our waitress made a recommendation to order toast with it for the sauce underneath (which we appreciated but would be nice if it was included with the dish.) We also enjoyed the salmon and steak frites that were cooked well. We ended with the Apple Galina that in my opinion was nothing special. Despite only being three of us, a 20% service charge was automatically included. I look forward to visiting again in the future and hopefully getting the chance to try some drinks. read more

This place is new and upstairs at the old hall at the yard. It's smaller so you will definitely want to make a reservation. Absolutely superb place. When you get upstairs, the atmosphere comes off as immediately elegant and quaint with a host stand outside and tables lined down the patio area to the front door. Inside are the tables along a linear corridor ending with a small bar. A large window lines one wall where you can see into the kitchen to watch the staff but you can't hear anything so it's pleasant and not loud. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything fresh and unique, I'm not sure there's anything on the menu that wouldn't be good. We even got two deserts. Can't wait to come again. Came during their soft opening. It's on the second floor of the city food hall which they have signs to lead you to upstairs. The host greeted me with a smile and brought me inside to my table. I was able to watch the cooks as order came in. My waiter Christian and everyone else inside the restaurant was nice and attentive. They truly worked together as a team! I started my meal with the mushroom duxelle and crab croquette. The mushroom duxelle was a delightful surprise. The texture and well balance of flavor. Crab croquette was the true winner of everything I ate. I could go there and just order a bunch of them. The remoulade really helped tied the flavors together. As my entree, I picked the hanger steak that came with their fries. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and they sliced it already. The sauce of top had an earthy taste to me which was good. The fries cooked crunchy with shredded cheese on top. I pondered about dessert for a second and then decided to get the apple galette. It came out looking like a pizza with a perfect dough cook and the chantilly cream. read more

Place is hard to get to which for me is difficult. It's on the second floor of a large complex and you have to park far away. It's a small intimate restaurant. The food is okay but very expensive. The pasta dish was good, the mixed green salad was uneventful and too expensive since I did not like sweetbreads, the dessert had too much whipped cream which hid the peach tart.. and when we left we had to be accompanied by the waitress at 9:00 because the building was locked . read more

We decided to take a drive to the old Hall on the Yard and try the new French restaurant upstairs after reading reviews and seeing they were also on Bite30. Upon entering the hall downstairs a DJ was setting up and we saw the sign for the restaurant upstairs. It's a super small space with indoor and outdoor options. We had a rez for indoor seating. We started with French martini's, they were presented well. I decided to order the regular menu of steak frites (my favorite in Parisian bistros) and my friend went with a salmon dish on the bite menu. They started with a nice amuse bouche of house made potato chips with a crème fresh with lemon and herbs. My friend had oysters which were super small but good. I ordered my steak M and it came out nearly rare with a green sauce (guess I expected traditional French fare) and her salmon was ordered MR and it came out done. I decided to send back my steak and my friend just ate her meal overcooked but the sauce had nice flavor. The next steak was cooked more appropriately but wasn't up to par I didn't eat it just the fries which were good. We both had desserts which were good. Never did a manager visit the table to check on us given the situation. What's interesting is service charge is automatically added on all Tabs, and they run a separate bill for any alcohol as the liquor license isn't theirs but the belongs to the building so you have 2 tabs one for alcohol and one for food. Unfortunately we were both underwhelmed and the ambiance with the thumping of the DJ made it more of a club atmosphere making conversations difficult, not to mention the restaurant was also playing music too so you had two different songs playing simultaneously. For whatever reason these concepts just don't do well at this venue I would likely pass on this as Orlando just can't seem to get a good French restaurant and try something else. read more

We recently enjoyed my wife's birthday at Chez Les Copains. We couldn't have asked for more. The team was extremely accommodating for our large party size despite the location being a warm and intimate vibe. The food was incredible and perfectly timed in terms of delivery - and most importantly, delicious. The staff were also incredibly helpful and thoughtful all the way down to the last detail. Went for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was amazing and the bartender had so many helpful recommendations as far as drinks and food to order. I enjoyed every dish we ordered, my only complaint was that I didn't care for the potato chips as they tasted of old oil or something, but honestly, everything else was so good. I love to find a new restaurant that is not trying to be something it has no business being. So many restaurants open cutting corners, and falling flat on the quality of the experience and food, especially the food. Chez Les Copains has a Parisienne ambience and great attention to detail. They aren't trying to dumb down French food so an American will eat it ( sorry, but that happens so much). It truly mirrors a Parisienne bistro (steak tartare- I will have at my next visit!). I love escargot, especially without the shells. My fish with Meuniere sauce( with macadamia nuts & caperberries) was delicious! We also tried the duck- fantastic. They did not have their liquor license yet, but we knew to bring our own wine ( the only reason for 4 stars-just because I am sure the wine list is stellar). Our server, Jill was a gem. We were so excited about a new French restaurant opening in Orlando and they did not disappoint! Outstanding service beyond compare was provided by Christian and the team. All the food was a home run, we experienced the crab coquette, shrimp, escargot, steak tartare, meunière fish and lobster risotto. We would highly recommend all of them and our compliments to the Chef and the kitchen team. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and we enjoyed the pleasant background music. We had been twice to Chez Les Copains and absolutely loved it. Great food, great service and great ambience. The first time we dined there the other couple we were with raved about how authentic it was. Last weekend we had an out of town guest and took them for dinner for our third visit. The food and service was as exceptional as it had been in our previous visits. However, they had the music up so loud we could barely converse. The genre was kinda an electric dance vibe. When we asked why on this visit the ambience was so different our server (who was great!) explained that because of the DJ in the food hall below being at the bottom of the stairs they had the music up extra loud to drown it out. Apparently this is what happens on Friday and Saturday nights now. I really hope this is something they can work out because it was enough to make us choose another restaurant on a weekend night. We were disappointed in this change because this restaurant has the potential to be a success and has become a favorite of ours. If the music has to be blaring, maybe a genre more fitting for a French Brasserie would be more appropriate. read more
