Chez Josef was a nice cozy venue for a prom that I chaperoned for recently. Staff seemed super attentive and our event was run very efficiently and smoothly. What I really appreciated was one of the staff members running our event held a strong line of communication with the class advisors and administration throughout the entire night. Everyone at Chez Josef was super friendly, accommodating and respectful. The downside to this event was definitely our meal. The food was interesting. Students chose parmesan crusted chicken but it tasted very sweet almost like there was applesauce on it. It was really strange. I also had some oven roasted potato wedges but those were very undercooked- hard as a rock and nearly impossible to cut through. I was not very fond of the food but I figured that was to be expected at an event like this. However, the parfaits were decent. This place is OK. They really need to do some renovations to make it a little more modern. You walk in and it smells like "your grandmother's house," as one of my friends stated. I came here for a company gathering and they had appetizers out by the entrance, there was a huge selection of cheese, fruit, veggies and dip. The selection was pretty decent. You had to purchase tickets at a podium and then use those tickets at the bar, which I found rather strange. They also had curtains up, separating us from the seating area. Also a little strange, then all at once, they opened the curtains and we were herded in, not sure if it was a ploy to get us to eat more apps or buy more drink... The food was okay, the service okay... It was an okay time. read more

This is a mix of both the catering & the food itself. On Jan. 22 I walked over to do the "Chefs for Jimmy" over there & did quite a bit of restaurant samples & also had a sample of the places' own stuff they do. When they do events like proms, conventions & such they do a bit to make sure they hit the marks. In my case for their little thing I'll post that with a group I know for my own reasons but if you ever need like a wedding or prom or other thing & want it near the CT/MA line here you go. read more

As a former, short-time employee (for the reasons listed below), BEWARE. The bars are dirty--everything was sticky. I felt like I needed to wash my hands within two minutes of my first shift. The bars also lack in your basic necessities, such as bar rags, napkins, and straws. We had to run around to other rooms' bars to try and find these things. Each bar should be inventoried and appropriately stocked either by a lead bartender or bar management before AND after each event, but it appears they would rather leave their employees to fend for themselves. Their management is beyond insufficient. I received NO training, as if they just expected me to know even the basic ins-and-outs of their establishment, like where the employee entrance is or where to clock in/out. One of my coworkers very kindly directed me to the best of his ability during my first shift, but I felt bad because he shouldn't be expected to train someone new. We never had a bar manager present to make sure we were stocked up on alcohol and other items, so one bartender would have to go all the way across the building to re-stock our alcohol and glasses while the other is left to serve 100+ guests. Also, if you care at all about the ways in which a business treats their employees, I would suggest not supporting this business. If they fail to pay their employee (which has happened), management will ignore that employee's requests for payment. This is absolutely deplorable, and I will leave it at that. Chez Josef, you need to take more pride in your establishment. Provide your employees with the resources necessary for them to do their jobs efficiently and well. Pay your employees. Be responsive to their needs. Overall, do better. read more

I sent this to the business three weeks ago with no response..... Hello, I could not find the direct email for your establishment but wanted to bring your attention to my experience this Saturday at the Dueling Pianos event and did not want to write anything on yelp or trip advisor because did not think that was fair because there was some good to the experience. I have been in the service industry for 11 years doing everything from serving, to bar tending, to banquet managing. I was very excited to come to this event and bought last minutes tickets thanks to Lynn around 4:30 the day of the event because I had to get work covered. I emailed her and she got back quickly which I appreciated. On arriving around 6:50 we checked in and left our coats with a very very friendly blonde woman working the coat check. Since dinner was served at 7:00 and the show did not start until 8:00 we figured we would grab a cocktail and settle in and grab our dinner around 7:10. While grabbing the first round my boyfriend ordered a gin and tonic and then asked for a lime and she goes what, wine? No big deal, we went and sat at our table and got up for dinner around 7:10. When we went we found the food was already almost all gone, so we took what little we could but I told my boyfriend just wait a few minutes they will reload the buffet. There was an older gentleman who was very nice and told us to try the cornbread, which we did and it was delicious. When we went up to get check to see if they had put out a salad that wasn't just the scrapings, probably ten minutes later, he found that there was no more dinner food, and it was now dessert. For dinner and a show though, I found the meal to be a complete hodge podge of food. Stuffed cranberry chicken breast with mac and cheese, pineapple pulled pork with lo mein? I found it all very sweet and disjointed. We both left hungry. The show itself was okay, but they played 2 of our 6 requested songs, all with money attached to them. One of them we requested fit well to the older crowd and the piano theme and he rushed through it as though it was torturous to play. On going up to the bar for a second time I had asked for a dirty martini. The girl put olive juice in the bottom of the martini glass by putting her fingers over the edge of a glass filled with olives and olive juice, using her fingers as a strainer and I am not sure may have used her fingers to put the olives on the sword. The couple behind me goes, by dirty I think you meant the olive juice not her fingers. Then she put ice in the shaker and put the vodka on its own swirled the shaker three times and strained it into the glass that she put the olive juice using an actual strainer. After that she came up short so took warm grey goose and added it to the "martini" and then added warm vermouth to the "martini". I'm sure without explaining you are aware this is not the right way to make a nice cold martini. My boyfriend again got a gin and tonic, and when he asked for a lime got the same response, what? wine? I just asked for a glass of ice and gave her the benefit of the doubt it was one of her first shifts. From that point on we stuck with beer, you can't mess that up. I love dueling pianos and have seen them in a few cities and this just did not hit the mark. When you rush Frank Sinatra to play Pink and 8675309 when a majority of the crowd was 50+ I would say you need to read your audience more. After that we left with half hour left in the show. The first twenty minutes was great but they quickly lost me with song choice and lack of chemistry between the two pianists. This was my first event at Chez Josef and was looking forward to coming to future events or New Years Eve, but will most likely look elsewhere. read more

I recently posted a very unfavorable review of Chez Joseph in Agawam Massachusetts regarding their recent Easter brunch. Since then, and the receipt of my letter further explaining why I was so upset, management has contacted me several times with explanations, apologies and offers to correct the situation. I now feel that it was just a bad day with inexperienced wait staff. I have gone there in the past and will consider going again in the future. read more

I, and several organizations that I am a part of have been a patron of Chez Josef for years now. I must say that I am utterly disgusted and disappointed about the treatment that we received when planning our ten year reunion this past weekend. Chez Josef was uncommunicative in the weeks prior to our event, and when they finally did res...pond to our inquiries, they over charged us by $500 and 20 people and threatened to cancel our event the day before! I will never again patronize this business, and will be telling Central High School staff to do the same. This is very disheartening as we held a 50k event there in the past. This time, we were treated like our dollar was worth less than their's. I will be writing a more extensive but similar review on yelp.com, The Republican, andsending an official complaint to Chez Josef Management. BTW: We worked with Mark... I'd advise otherwise. Very disappointed. We attended a show there which advertised a start time of 8pm, with doors opening at 7:15. We were inside by 7:15 and then we were told the doors would open at 7:30. We were not allowed to be seated because they had the door closed off with a large curtain. We stood by the curtain until 7:55 when everyone was allowed to be seated, so everyone rushed to get the good seats facing the center. I feel that if you get there early you should be able to get a good seat so you don't have to twist around to see the show. Latecomers should take what is left. Chez Josef wants people to stand in the lobby so they will keep buying drinks. I won't go back to any shows there. read more

We recently 2015 had our wedding there and it was awful Mark the manger was our wedding adviser and he pop up 2 time the whole night it was run by two teenagers 16 year old (we did ask) the whole night the food was serviced with no heads up so nobody know , we had sitting placements and some reason they had to retake everyone order food was cold !!! as the bride it was suppose to be a worry free night that did not happen at all . Toilet was over flowing there is a list of things I can on with I am very disappointed and sad that all this money we came up with was a waste !!! So if you have your wedding or event I guess you have to be rude and stern I guess I was a push over !!!! Would not recommend this place at ALL !!! read more

I attended a luncheon/show event sponsored by Friendship Tours. The promised coffee/tea upon arrival was non-existent. The dining room was not ready for us - the vase of flowers for the table was placed after we had been seated for a while. Repeated requests for coffee and a pitcher of water for the table were ignored. The "all-you-can-eat lobster" allowed 1 before they ran out; the lines formed; and the wait began. Half lobsters were the result until the kitchen began to produce more as dessert was being served. We did finally get our coffee...so very bitter - not too strong...just bitter. There was no air-conditioning in the dining hall that we could feel. Can't imagine how the servers -who were so polite and pleasant - were able to do the job they did. Friendship Tours offered a free glass of wine to help make up for the unfortunate lobster snafoo. Thank you Friendship Tours; but this wasn't your fault. We were told that this was a first of its kind event at Chez Joseph.....that they had to work the "bugs" out....OK...maybe so... but, not on our $$$. read more
