It's…read moregot that dark, slightly chaotic, "rariteitenkabinet" vibe that makes you feel like you've stumbled into a hidden club rather than a burger joint. We kept it classic this time: * The Ribs: Fall-off-the-bone tender as always. They don't over-sweeten the glaze, which I appreciate. * Le Cannibale Royale: The pulled pork on top of the patty is a heavy hitter, but the sauerkraut actually cuts through the richness perfectly. * The Fries: Still some of the most consistent in the city--thin, salty, and actually hot. Service was busy (it's Handboogstraat, so what do you expect?), but the staff was super chill and kept the craft beers flowing. It's loud, it's moody, and it's exactly what I wanted for a late-night feed. Plus, I've noticed they actually take the time to read and reply to feedback here, which is a rare find for a place this popular. Keep doing what you're doing!

The ambiance had crazy neat decor all over the walls. Whenever I go on vacation I always stalk yelp to find food places to visit, and this place did not disappoint! This is a meat eaters paradise. If you are sharing a meal with someone, get items from a different prix-fixe menu and you can both try a variety of items. We enjoyed: * Charcuterie plate: sausages taste minimally processed and delicious * Beef and onion stew: taste slightly different than ones in America * Cauliflower and cheese oven bake: vegetarian's comfort food * Hutspot (mashed potatoes and carrots) and meatballs: non-vegetarian's comfort food * Pea soup with smoked ham For desserts, we had chocolate mousse and vlaflip (vanilla custard) and they were just okay. I'm not sure if desserts are the Dutch's strengths, except maybe the Dutch apple pie. They even bottle their own house beer. The restaurant is small. Try to make a reservation if you can. We didn't have a reservation, but went to the restaurant at around 5PM and were seated in about 15 minutes. At times, the line could get very long, but the staff is still welcoming and ensures that everyone gets served...eventually.

The reservations are in time blocks--so everyone enters together at the reservation time. It is orderly, not a mad rush, but they are serious about the reservation timing. We ordered Menu 3 (pictured) which was excellent for comfort food: --Trio of Dutch sausages, bread, Amsterdam pickles, and mustard --Hachee served with red cabbage and mashed potatoes --Chocolate duo with advocaat (chocolate mousse and ice cream) To get the reservation, we had to wait at our computer on the day the reservations open, then book immediately. It was hard reservation to get, but very much worth it.

The Pantry - I hadn't had Dutch apple pie since my days waiting tables at Denny's, in the '80s & this was well worth the wait.

Menu was delivered and the specials were explained. The menu was fairly limited, but plenty enough. Our server also explained that the mains do not come with any side dishes. We were a group of six and the entire place could have held maybe 15-18 more people. Not a big place, but very cozy. We had some drinks and in no time our food was on the table. I had ordered the seared tuna and my wife had ordered the rump steak. Both were cooked to perfection and both very tasty. We had ordered fries, beet root, and stir fried veggies for appetizers to share. The fries came with a garlic aoli/mayo, that was very tasty. Overall, our service was at Vlaming was impeccable, the food was excellent and the price was in line with what you'd expect. In fact the food was more in line with what you'd expect at fine dining, but with a lower price. I like Vlaming and would go back again !

More of a place that locals go to though there were also several tourists last night, including us :). Sat outside on a lovely warm night, started with a beautiful and tasty lentil salad and a creamy rich yellow pepper soup. Both were yummy. The mains were three large pieces of filet of sole and a perfect medium rare duck breast. Both were delicious and good sized portions. We also shared a side of crispy fries which were also very good. Service from the staff at Vlaming was exceptional. Friendly and gave very good advice about the wine and food choices. Had a nice time talking to another family sitting next to us, also from California. Vlaming was an excellent restaurant choice for our first night in Amsterdam.
