Chez Chloé is a tiny restaurant on a lonely street behind Alésia with a friendly patron who immediately chatted us up as we entered. After debating between this restaurant and the one next door, we chose this one because of the number of vegetarian options.
I ordered the beef bobun, and my friend the vegetarian bobun with a side of nutty black rice. When I asked if they had any iced tea, our server explained that they made a ginger iced tea, and a tamarind iced tea (unaware that we had both spent time in Asia, she went into a long explanation on the fruit). Her descriptions of both were so convincing that my friend, who had planned on asking for a pitcher of water, also decided to order the tamarind tea. It was tangy and had a punchy ginger aftertaste, but I found the tea to be too sweet (was it artificial sweetener?). I should have gone with the plain ginger--I wonder if it had as much sugar.
The bobuns were good, but not extraordinary, and the prices were a bit higher than expected. Service was quick and our hostess was lovely. read more
