Today was a good day. It was almost closing but they still served us. We had a few flights. Birria tacos and the flautas. It was a great way to end the night.

I have never had a bad visit to Chevy's. Their booths are always comfortable and, if you decide to eat by the bar, you'll have multiple televisions, in order to watch that day's popular sporting event(s). Since I'm so addicted to their AMAZING salsa, I had to ask our awesome Server, Israel, to give us A LOT more. He generously brought back a much appreciated salsa container, almost the size of my hand! My Piña Colada was very good, creamy, and served in a tall glass. Every entree was VERY GOOD (Quesadilla Burger, Surf & Turf, and Chicken Tacos). All had fresh ingredients and all were throughly enjoyed. I will continually return to Chevy's and am certain, that they will satisfy your every craving.

Deep fried ice cream served several years ago

I met a woman that told me her son, Brett worked at Chevy's and to go visit him ask and ask for Brett and tell him that his mama sent him. About a week or so later I went there I asked for Brett and they told me he was working, and I asked to be seated by him. I explained to him that his mama sent me and he had a huge smile in his face. His service was suburb. Very nice and he suggested several types of mock tails and cocktails. I ordered the deep fried ice cream. That I had two years ago and was craving it. However, they brought it back. They told me it was taken off their menu so therefore it was a little different because I tasted the difference immediately, they now put oats in it, which they didn't previously, and the presentation was not as nice as 2/3 years ago. See pictures. However it still was good. I just prefer the one from several years ago. I also met the bus boy. His name was Michael. He was a very sweet, respectful young man. I told the manager how great they both were and he thanked me. I would definitely recommend this place and if you could ask for Brett, he will give you good service. The ambiance is nice and what I had was good. I had the dessert, margarita which was delicious, chips, guacamole, and salsa sauce, as I wasn't very hungry cause I had gone out to lunch previously. I recommend this place as it's a fun place. The food is good, ambience is good and so is the service. The only thing they need to fix is the dessert. I recommend this place and you won't be disappointed.

    Chicken tortilla soup, so small

All I wanted was chicken tortilla soup and the only place I could find open that had it available was here. $7.50 for an extremely small cup, they must serve more if you're dining in. AND not even filled up all the way. So disappointed. Also the description said avocado, and there was none. Not to mention the dirty cup that's damaged. Ugh, hope this doesn't make me sick and wasn't old or stored incorrectly. This was my first time eating at chevys and probably be the last. Not worth it at all.

I have been to Chevy's many times and really enjoyed the food and service. Tonight was a different story. The service left a lot to be desired. The server did not write anything down- which would have been admirable had he remembered anything. We had to wait awhile to give our drink order and waited even longer to get them. We had to repeatedly ask for things. At one point he said that he didn't forget to bring the salsa, he was too busy! We waited for our food and I was not impressed with my quesadilla. It was hardly filled and the two end pieces had nothing inside. Because it has always been very good, I will give it another try and hopefully it will be back to being a place I like.

Incredible place! We got a margarita flight, the perfect choice to try different flavors. The food was amazing, we got an appetizer and a combo and we couldn't finish! There was a lot of food and very delicious. Our waitress was really funny and gave an excellent service. I would definitely come back for the different events that go on every week. The ambiance is great to spend time with friends and do something different during the week.

We went on a Wednesday evening to grab margaritas and some food. After Jose Tejas killed their menu during COVID, we decided to give this place a go. We were seated immediately on the patio and given salsa and chips as we decided on our food. The salsa itself is a reason to go. It was the best restaurant salsa I have had in a long time. Choosing the outside was the perfect choice, it was intimate and a bit quieter than the inside. When we walked in, we saw a board that advertised a tequila flight. Originally, we came in to try their margaritas but decided to try the Patron instead--our last-minute switch did not disappoint. The flight is not on the drinks or specials menu, so you might want to inquire if interested. I will say I wish the drinks were a bit stronger. For starters, we ordered the Fresh Mex Sampler to get a feel for what we would expect for food. The wings, nachos, flautas, and quesadillas were all solid. That was a good start. For entrees, we ordered the Surf N Turf combo and the Flamed Mixed Grill Fajitas. We did specify we wanted the steak medium rare but came out well done. To our surprise, the steak was so tender, the cook(s) definitely knew what they were doing. Everything tasted fresh and was very good. My only gripe was the pesto-habanero cream sauce that was on the crab and shrimp enchilada had no kick whatsoever. It just tasted like green cream. Not the best. Overall, everything was fine. Our waiter was great as well, despite him being spread thin. When we are craving Tex-Mex, we will consider Chevys again in the future.

5/19/23: We sat at the bar for a quick drink and appetizers before the Yogi Berra documentary movie "It Ain't Over". (BTW, Great movie!) The bartender greeted us. We ordered beer, wine, Mexican Sampler and Nacho platter. The Mexican platter has flautas, quesadillas, wings and tostadas. The food was very tasty. Place has a cool vibe. Service is friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. A decent size parking area is available.

Came on a friday evening. The place was decently packed. We were seated immediately and chose to sit outside. I Havent been to a Chevys restaurant in over 10 years. We were given free chips and salsa which was good but lacked flavor. I got the create your own platter with a salsa chicken taco, picadillo taco, and chicken flautas. It came with rice and bean. My friend got the sampler. Our food came out fairly quick. I enjoyed mines although tge rice and beans were luke warm. The flautas wasnt crispy either. My friend didnt enjoy the sampler due to it being all chicken. She just chose something based off a picture which waa her mistake. All in all, decent place.

I have been going to Chevys for so long I am surprised I never managed to write a review on it. There has been a long time in between since my last visit, so it could very well those visits longer ago were my pre-Yelp days. Is it the best Mexican in the world? Not at all. Is it a pretty solid and consistent experience, yes. The margaritas are great and on this recent visit I had the Street Tacos - CARNE ASADA - Soy citrus grilled steak, poblano, avocado, chipotle aioli, corn tortillas. That with a margarita and a shared NACHOS GRANDE - A heaping platter of chips topped with chicken, melted cheese, black beans, red sauce, fresh guacamole, sour cream and roasted corn salsa, made for a very good dinner stop.

Chevy's has a decent vibe-it's family friendly and has a bar if you're looking to grab a drink with friends. We came on a Saturday night so it was pretty busy but we're seated right away. We started with the yuca fries and of course the complimentary chips and salsa. Yuca fries were delicious, definitely try them. For enterré I ordered the 2 protein fajita: 1/2 carnitas and 1/2 fresh vegetables both were flavorful! I subbed the flour tortillas for corn but as soon as the last one cooled down it wasn't too tasty. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal. My favorite thing here is the corn tomatillos I always get extra lol

8/12/25 at 10:45pm. Very rude and unprofessional customer service. I ordered chips and dips on Uber eats waited 30 minutes for my delivery order and they sent no chips. OMLY the dip. What am I supposed to do with dip only. They don't even sell dip only as a choice it's automatically given with chips so common sense should've automatically told them to put the chips with the dip. I called to notify them and the response from the BERY rude guy that answered was, "take it up with Uber eats" and he hung up on me. I attempted to call back and he did not answer my call.

The food was good & nice plate presentation. My issue is cost. This is a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall. $14 maragarita. $15/Cab Sauvignon glass [the bottle is worth $20 at total wine]. Flautas appetizer was $14 and they were tasty and pretty but literally two tortillas cut in half (menu called mini tortilla). Club soda was $4. This place was nice and food passable but not worth that NYC prices they charged. I personally won't be back. The menu prices seemed elevated compared to the quality and portion size of the dishes.

The Garden State is hailed as one of the most diverse states when it comes to food, hosting some of the best Mexican restaurants on the East Coast. Whether one desires a quick taco or a full-course meal, my friends and I were craving rich and bold tastes from Mexico and decided on this family-owned establishment for an early Cinco de Mayo dinner. The reservation was easily made by calling Mariachi Grill, located on Ridge Road in Lyndhurst. Upon arrival at this popular spot to locals, with its cozy and casual interior decked out in traditional Mexican vibes, we were greeted by the staff and immediately got a table by the entrance, but they also have outdoor dining, weather permitting. The menu selection is much smaller than at other restaurants. We decided on the Cheese Enchiladas, Beef Enchiladas, California Burrito, Beef Burrito, Chicken Fries with Fries, and Shrimp Fajitas. With this area being our go to after a Salvation Army drop off run in Passaic, Tio Taco was next up on our list after we had already hit up a few of the restaurants in the Clifton shopping area. We came by at around 12pm on a wintry Saturday afternoon and there was only one table occupied at the time. When we walked in though, unfortunately we weren't greeted by anyone for a good few minutes, so alarms already were going off in our heads of a potentially bad experience coming up. We ended up walking in on our own and seating ourselves before being greeted. The menu was Mexican-oriented as you can imagine - empanadas, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, steak and seafood Mexican-inspired entrees, etc. It wasn't a huge menu, but plenty to still choose from. We started off with the Beef Empanadas, which were FANTASTICCC. There were 3 large pieces in the order, which easssssily could have been an entree. It was some of the best beef empanadas I've had - honestly. Juicy seasoned beef and very good flavor from the sofrito. It came with a side of lettuce and pico de gallo and cheese dipping sauce. Next, the entrees. We ordered from the Kids menu for the kiddos - a Kids Chicken Quesadilla. First, the order was absolutely HUGEEEE! We were so shocked that the serving was so big that we double-checked with the waiter that it wasn't 2 orders. This was one of the largest kids meals items I had ever seen. There were 6 cut up pieces of the quesadilla, which was generously filled with lots of chicken and melted cheese. There was also a side of deliciously super crispy fries. I had 1 piece of the quesadilla and it stunned me that it was soooo gooood and the entire order probably would have filled me up with ease. My better half ordered the Churrasco Skirt Steak and I had the Short Rib Enchiladas. BOTH were ridiculously superb. The skirt steak was tender, juicy, flavorful and the chimichurri sauce was perfect. One of the better "non-fancy restaurant" steaks that we've had. As for the enchiladas, absolutely delicious! The short rib was soooo juicy and flavorful. Both entrees came with a side of rice and beans. The rice was a bit on the hard side, but I mixed mine with the beans, which made it better. We've been to our fair share of restaurants and, especially chain restaurants, and this was one of the best experiences, service wise and food wise, that we've had. It didn't get off to the best start having to wait a few minutes to be greeted, but our waiter was very friendly, accommodating with our requests for non-glass plates and plastic forks and even brought over extra ketchup and napkins without us asking. He came by to check on us every once in a while as well. And, yes, initially I was brought the wrong order of enchiladas, but they fixed that up asap with a brand new order for me. In closing, I'll say that when we visit chain restaurants these days, most of the food is decent and satisfies our hunger, but nothing very memorable ... the food here was absolutely MEMORABLE and we'll definitely be back.

According to them, service tends to decline under pressure--particularly because the bartender is often pulled away to assist in the kitchen, and the manager doesn't seem to read the room effectively when additional support is clearly needed. Upon arrival, the restaurant was fairly quiet, with only one other table occupied. Despite this, our experience felt disorganized from the start. Our waitress was kind, but there was a noticeable language barrier that made it difficult to ask questions or receive drink and food recommendations. My impression was that maybe she was new? The manager watched her talk with us, but didn't step in when we couldn't all communicate effectively. This was the first and last time we ever saw our waitress. The bartender took over the dining room from there. One point of confusion was the absence of chips and salsa at our table. At most Mexican restaurants, this is typically a complimentary starter. We weren't served any, but later observed other tables receiving them. It appeared that chips and salsa may need to be ordered separately, but there was no clear indication of this on the menu or from the staff. On a positive note, the food arrived quickly and was served hot. The enchiladas were well-presented and came with a generous selection of sides including pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream (all included, no extra charge). The green sauce was flavorful with a good level of spice--definitely a highlight. The margarita, however, was underwhelming. It was served in a large cup, which was promising at first glance, but it tasted heavily diluted and juice-forward--more style than substance. We ordered churros for dessert, which turned into a frustrating experience. After waiting an hour (we could NOT get the manager or the bartenders attention sooner because they were hectically running around) we finally were able to request an update from the manager. The manager then brought out the dessert with an apology. We were told they'd be on the house from the manager themselves, due to the delay, but the final bill still included the charge hand-delivered by the manager. Clear lack of attention to detail. Throughout our visit, the restaurant only had five tables occupied, yet the overall atmosphere felt chaotic and poorly managed. If service becomes this scattered during a slow night, it's difficult to imagine how they might handle a larger group or busy service. On a more positive note, the decor was beautiful and thoughtfully curated, giving the space a warm and inviting ambiance. One final note: the restaurant appears to operate under two different names, which caused confusion when searching for directions. It's unclear why this is the case, and it made it difficult to confirm if we were arriving at the correct location. In summary, while there were some highlights in terms of food and ambiance, the service and organization left much to be desired. I'm open to giving the restaurant another try, but only under the right circumstances.
