I'm pretty surprised by the negative reviews. My boyfriend and I took a piece of glass that was slightly too large for our coffee table here to be cut, and we also put in an order for replacement glass for two picture frames. We were told they would all be ready on Thursday but, to our pleasant surprise, we received a call just a few hours later to tell us that our items were ready. The coffee table glass was cut perfectly and the edges look more professional than the piece of glass that originally came with the table. The picture frame glass also fit perfectly. Chevy Chase Glass did an exceptional job installing a glass shelf in my bay window. It looks terrific! And is exactly aligned the window grid such that it looks like an integral part of the window design. It was a bit of a challenge since the shelf for plants needed to extend 75" across a wide bay window with only side supports. Kevin & Will recommended a no tint, half inch glass shelf which worked perfectly. Their installation team, led by Hugo, was courteous, professional and proficient. They even helped me install the curtain rod mount just below the glass shelf. I'm thrilled to see how well it turned out and highly recommend Chevy Chase Glass for any glass cutting and installation projects. So they came in and installed the shower door we ordered, but there was a chip in one of the panes, and the gap between the door/fixed pane was just way too big. They accepted to change it, no question asked, so that was good. However, the attitude of the salesman was horrible. He was clearly aggressive and was almost in the mood to fight. I simply chose to ignore his aggressiveness to get the job done and get on with my life. I won't go there again for sure. At such prices, I'd rather deal with friendlier people. read more

Today the owner of Chevy Chase Glass, Kevin, hung up the phone on me because I wanted clarity on a charge for coming to my home. He is rude and unprofessional. I have been a long time customer of his. If he treats his customers like this I can't imagine what his employees must suffer. The charge that the employee said that I would be charged was no where near what I was actually charged. He adjusted a screw on my mirrored doors which took 2 minutes. When I questioned Kevin about the charge he became angry! A businessman hanging up the phone on you because you ask him a question is simply childish. I would not patronize this business! read more

I give this business a ZERO RATING. The way owner, Kevin Charbonaugh, runs his business, CHEVY CHASE GLASS, is unconcerned with customers almost to the point of arrogance. First, the telephone number just rings when the business is closed or when they are on another call. There is no answering device whatsoever. Second, calls and e-mails are often never returned. This type of unreliability destroyed all trust I had at the beginning in this business. In 2010 I e-mailed CHEVY CHASE GLASS (4951 Bethesda Ave Bethesda, MD 20814 (301) 654-2022) several times to request service and estimate but received no reply whatsoever. There was no answering service then or now (February 2013) to accept prospective customers' or existing customers' telephone messages. This is a disservice to those who do not have computer service or opt not to use it. Nearly 3 weeks ago I reached someone at Chevy Chase Glass and requested an appointment for an estimate. I was told that someone would call me back within 2 days to give me an appointment time. I was most surprised--as I was walking out my door--when about 5 days later an estimator telephoned and said he was in my area right then and could come over in a few minutes. This is a very "fly by the seat of your pants" and disorganized. The estimator was very polite and knowledgeable. He said that I would be given the final estimate on the following day (Friday) or Saturday but Monday at the latest. Over 2 weeks later I telephoned Chevy Chase Glass to courteously inform them that I hadn't yet received my estimate. I happened to talk to the owner, KEVIN CHARBONAUGH, who told me I would get my estimate but never said when. He had a very unconcerned, cold manner. I brought up to him the fact that I wasn't even sure I was telephoning his correct business number because there was no answering recording on it to verify that it was the business but that they did not provide means to leave a message. Charbonaugh gave me no response whatsoever! A week after I talked to this unconcerned owner, I still hadn't received my estimate. Consequently, I called the store and spoke with the lady who answered. She asked me what my estimator's name was. I replied what difference does it make, she should be able to look it up according to my name or address or phone number. She said she could only look it up by the estimator's name plus I needed to supply the type of work being estimated!!! Then she said that she could only get the estimate when the owner came back into the store. All signs point to the fact that the owner is a control freak with an inflated sense of self-importance who forces his employees to go through him before giving out any information and who is hugely unconcerned about his customers perhaps to the point of being contemptuous. Apparently he doesn't need business so to accede to his wishes, I will certainly never avail myself of any services by Chevy Chase Glass. read more

We couldn't be happier!! Was looking to get a piece of glass for my mother-in-law's coffee table. I made way too many calls trying to find someone who did it. A local hardware store referred me to Chevy Chase Glass. I called at 4pm on Friday, day after Thanksgiving and ordered it over the phone, paying with my credit card. They had it ready for delivery the following Wednesday -- even though they told me it would be longer!!! There were challenges in coordinating with my mother-in-law for delivery (I live out of state) but they never showed frustration. It was perfect and my "mom" is delighted! So are we!! Had an excellent experience with a shower door installation. Both Jose, the installer, and Rafael in sales were pleasant, prompt and professional. The store in Bethesda has samples of many kinds of doors and hardware and makes it easy to envision options. It may be more expensive than going to a big box and buying a similar door, but with professional installation, this was the way to go for installing on a marble shower wall in an older home. Hinged single panel looks sleek, but also allows opening in order to turn on the water easily. read more

I also don't know about what the negative reviews are saying. Maybe they improved their customer service based on these reviews. I had no problems as I recall. My designer referred me to them for a mirror in a tiny powder room and I also wanted a glass top to go over the new round wood breakfast table (we're slobs). They warned me since it was close to Christmas that they were backed up but they came over and measured. Right after the new year, I got a call and everything was ready. They installed in a jiffy. I thought the prices were reasonable, too. The custom mirror wasn't that much more than a ready made one, none of which fit the space anyway. read more

After begrudgingly using this company for the past couple of years, I have given up! They have a good quality product, slightly high pricing, but absolutely terrible customer service. They are a nightmare to deal with and owner Kevin is the rudest person I have ever spoken with over the phone. When a glass piece was cut wrong on our project, he actually yelled at me over the phone when I called to discuss the plan for repairing or replacing it. I was floored.
