Shell offers gasoline, diesel, and electric vehicle (EV) (including Tesla) charging with 23 charge points; the price for gas was competitive. Restrooms were immaculate. There's a Subway restaurant on site, as well as a coffee station, and snacks galore. There's also a super helpful machine outside wherein you can purchase gallons of water (very useful in the desert! And, as part-time RVers, we'd love to see these everywhere). The primary reason for our stop was for my husband to get coffee, as he needed some caffeine given our long drive. He got a dark roast, which he characterized as good and hot. Seemed to be expensive at $2.66, but we're not sure of the going rates these days given tariffs on coffee. The cashier was efficient, but neither friendly nor unfriendly. We would stop here again.

Personally, we've stopped here at all hours of the night and day on such trips and the employees, regardless of the shift, have always been friendly and helpful. This store is fully stocked with all kinds of snacks, beverages, and kitschy stuff you would expect at a roadside stop. Flavored water? Check. Flaming Hot Cheetos? Check. Cheap sunglasses? Check. The restrooms are always clean and well maintained. The gas prices are reasonable. Next time you're passing by exit 42 along I-8, stop in and take a well needed pit stop for a few minutes.

Dateland is in a really unique space since there really isn't too much out there besides rest stops or you would have to drive several miles to get to a similar spot somewhere else. Dateland offers a gas station, convenience store, pizza hut, Dateland shakes, Tesla supercharger station, and a gift shop. Most of the places inside the travel center are open pretty late so it's not too bad to roll over here late in the evening for a pit stop, especially since other stations aren't really around that offers this level of variety to you on your drives. Will definitely be using this center again!
