And the drink selection was incredible from water and soda to energy drink and healthy drinks to even a beer cooler and a hard alcohol section if that's what you're in the mood for! Unfortunately, there was no clear signage indicating I had entered through an exit, so I simply drove to an open pump like I would at most gas stations. Almost immediately, other customers seemed upset with me, but I honestly had no idea what I had done wrong. It wasn't until a security guard came over and explained the system that I understood the issue. The entire experience was embarrassing and uncomfortable. If you're new to this station, be aware that there appears to be a specific traffic flow and queue system that may not be obvious to first-time visitors. Personally, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I'd rather go to Sheeley's, where I can simply pull up to an available pump without confusion, long lines and pissed off ... Sheeley's has plenty of pumps and steady traffic flow, the experience is much easier and far less stressful. Prices are exactly the same.

I was going to dock them a star for that, but the cashier and male employee working there were super friendly and went out of their way to help me find what I was looking for. I really wanted pretzels, but couldn't seem to find any. One of the employees walked around the store with me (the chips were spread out into several different spots) and he found the pretzels just after I gave up. He got extra points from me for persistence. There is a Chase ATM inside if you need to pick up some cash, and a propane tank exchange outside ($24.99 with exchange tank, $59.99 without). This could be very important if you're planning a holiday barbecue or camping trip. There is an air and water refilling station on the Northeast corner of the lot. The soda fountain carried both Coke & Pepsi products for those who have a preference. There were three different diet options: Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, and Diet Dr. Pepper. This is a very convenient refueling station if you're headed out to Palm Springs or to points farther East. I'd definitely stop here in the future.

Most of the other stations charge $0.50 to $1.25/gallon more (throughout the Desert cities) and makes me scratch my head every time why people throw money down the drain and fuel tank at all the other overpriced gas stations. But I understand people with money to burn prefer the convenience and locations of other stations. Speaking of convenience, there's a small convenience store located here too...and it's conveniently located on HWY 111 near The River. Every time I've been here the customer service is outstanding and everyone is all smiles and values their customers. There's window squeegees that some stations don't provide anymore because they get stolen. I know gas is gas...but the station is tops in my book and car for this area and my neighborhood...and I still remember when 76 was the official gasoline of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and had a gas station too in the parking lot at Dodger Stadium. Stopped by this Costco in Palm Desert to fill up on gas, and go inside (if not too crowded). Found…read moreit to be so less crowded than our neighborhood SoCal ones. Gas has reached over $6 a gallon now, so actively looked for a Costco while traveling from Palm Desert to Joshua Tree. The entrance to the gas station is not meant for high volume, with the eight lanes (4 islands, 2 pumps each so no need for parallel parking in a middle spot) having space for 3 individual cars behind. Once those fill up, there is no space except to go out to the street. Price was significantly less than the surrounding stations, and the paying/pumping was exactly the same as every other Costco (one tap if you have the Citi Costco card). We did go inside the Costco, with the mandatory membership card tap to enter. Once we got our few items, lines weren't too bad with additional checkers using hand held scanners to individually scan each item in the cart, eliminating need to have to put any items on the conveyor. It does make it faster...it's not Amazon Fresh that needs the RFID 'scan the whole cart at once' technology, but Costco. The food court is inside and wasn't too crowded, and would have stopped if we didn't have other plans. The $1.50 hot dog/drink special always tempts me.

Luckily, the line inside was super short, so it was a quick purchase. Well, these maple bars were sadly horrible. The dough was OK, but the maple was awful. First, it dripped onto my shirt in the car! Then, I really couldn't even taste the maple. I mean, it was there, but not really. I ate about 1/2 of one and then threw it away, along with the other uneaten one. And I NEVER do that with a maple bar. The other inconsistency is their Slushie machine. It only seems to be working 1/3 of the time; the other 1/3, it's still spinning and freezes. So, it's 3 stars for OK.
