Date/Time: 03/05/2025 @ approx 4:10pm Pump: Number 10 - Diesel Fuel Incident: I sat in my car as I pumped diesel fuel into my vehicle utilizing the auto latch. I soon heard the sound of running water through an open car door window. I stepped out to see that the automatic overflow mechanism of the gas nozzle did not stop and that my tank was overflowing. Diesel fuel was all over the side of my car and tire. I approached the attendent on-duty (Cherin?) to inform him that the automatic overflow mechanism did not work, that I suspect I lost 2+ gallons of fuel and that he would need to bring absorbant out to capture the spilled fuel to prevent run-off into the sewers. Cherin replied that the previous customer had the same problem with the pump not stopping. I thought in my head "why did you not put an out-of-service cover on the nozzles so the next customer would not need to have the same issue?" I asked for a reimbursement of 2+ gallons of fuel in which he replied "you received gas into the tank so the nozzle is not broken --- if you want a refund there is a telephone number on the pump to call." I returned to Pump #10 to find that there was no telephone number on the pump. I returned to the cashier stating that there was no telephone on the pump and I would need help from him locating that number. I then asked him if the water station was working so I could wash off the diesel before it damages the paint on my car. Cherin informs me that the water and air station are out-of-service. Keep in mind, I did not once raise my voice or yell because I understand that Cherin is just an employee doing his job of "doing not much". Driving away dejected, I came home to do the following: * Report the station to the State of CA for not having water and air for a paying customer * Report the station to the County of Alameda Weights and Measures Dept * Report the station to the State of CA Clean Water Program for not quickly putting absorbant on the spill * Dispute my credit card for the entire transaction If Cherin would have credited my credit card for the 2+ gallons of lost diesel fuel, I would not have gone to great lengths to report the station to the above agencies. Personally, reporting the station to the agencies above is well worth my having lost $10+ of diesel fuel. Yes, I lost $10+ but the time the station owner will spend with the above agencies is worth more than the $10+ that I lost. read more

If you go to Chevron you have to understand they are regularly .50 more per gallon than the average cost for a gas station. Prices here seem fair, lots of snacks outside within view of pumping and an unusual hydrogen option too. Chevron costs a little more. If you are hardcore price focused you wouldn't like it. My aunt always said "save money pay twice." She had this ancient Japanese wisdom. I could see cheap quality fuel clogging things up and although I don't always use Chevron I go probably every other fill up. Lots of snack options outside. Sort of an usual look - but I think the small location doesn't have much room. Its a tiny booth in the center - so they do what they can with what they have. Off in the distance there was what I think was a hydrogen station. Nobody was using it at the moment but I don't see those too often. That seems to be the future. Enssaro Ethiopian is across the street - a very friendly spot if you need to try a new place for dinner one day. read more

THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY! I pumped 20$ gas and nothing happened to my tank. I went and told the worker and he acted like he didn't understand English and pointed to a sticker on the pump. this Chevron station has an unique solution to selling snacks and beverages. just leaving it out in the open in front of the cashier station. snacks, candies on racks. drinks in coolers. no parking anywhere. of course, i didn't see any hot coffee. nothing was priced. This Chevron station is a hot spot for thieves. I had my purse stolen from my car while pumping gas, and I know other people who had similar experiences. The owner needs to hire an attendant to walk around and warn people to lock their cars and not leave valuables on seats like they do at the Chevron near the airport. This Chevron was a quick fuel stop after having breakfast. I pulled into here because it was the first gas station we spotted. I fueled up to above-average prices. But considering that this was SF, I wasn't too surprised. The gas station is nothing over-the-top, just your typical city gas stop. I didn't have a need to talk to the workers here. I just pulled up, swiped my card, fueled up, and was good to go. It's convenient if you need fuel when nearby. But if you're on a tight budget, or are price-conscious, then look elsewhere. read more

The guy who works there has major issues with power and control. Everything people said is accurate. Power tripping over every little thing. Parking in the station, withholding air and water, acting all authoritarian over putting your garbage in the chevron trash can if you're just walking by and need to throw away your cup, get out of here. Sad. I watched him trip about this on some passerby while gassing up. I guess the operative word is little in his case. Guy has a major syndrome of some sort. Some day someone with less tolerance will put him in his place, just wish everyone who knows how he is would be there to see it. Sadly, this franchise has elected to switch to an inferior and seemingly more expensive renewable diesel product. While they kept Propel's FlexFuel product, the diesel side of the pump now reads "National" "renewable diesel". I can find nothing about this marque on the web. I suspect it may be Chevron's product as they are bringing their own renewable diesel program online. Propel pioneered the renewable fuels market, and especially the diesel with remarkable success. Now Chevron, Texaco, and the other Big Petro players are attempting to muscle in on that market. Very sad, and somewhat disturbing. Propel were very open about their product specifications and feed stock sources. National is a black box to me so far. I'll be looking elsewhere after 2+ years of buying almost exclusively from this pump. (P.S. the nearest Propel HPR sources currently appear to be in Fremont and Redwood city) read more

Apparently this station used to be a Valero at one time, but it is most clearly a Chevron now. While one gas station is pretty much the same as the next, this one in particular just recently underwent a major tank upgrade to allow them to offer both FlexFuel and BioDiesel. Kudos to them for their green fuels offering. read more

I would give this place a zero star if I could. The man who claims he's the manager is the worst! We came to pump air into our tires, inserted 4 quarters, and it didn't work. He was incompetent and possibly has been drinking. Wouldn't even try to help us and was completely RUDE! I am never going to this chevron ever again. Never have I had such horrendous service AT A GAS STATION. That's just ridiculous. He needs to be fired for mistreating his customers. Saying "I don't care." And "don't talk to me." I am outraged. Aside from stopping here for gas, I've needed to drop off something at ups. I begin to park and about to pump gas and run into ups, the attendant comes out asking why I was parked there and I am not allowed to pump gas and leave my car there and go into ups. Paying customer or not he didn't care and rudely told me to finish my gas pumping and go somewhere else that park my car. Aside from the highly price gas and the stinky attitude of this attendant I will never stop here again. Time and time again I would stop for gas anywhere and no one would be as how this man is. Back in the day, this gas station used to be a Shell station for the longest time. Then the chain-link fence went up and it became a Valero station. Time went by and it resumed as a Chevron station with another side-business Propel Biofuel occupying space. At least its operational. The Propel biofuel pump is always empty. It seems like a poor choice of location. Perhaps somewhere in Berkeley would be been better? I got my gas, and left. Funny sight at snacks and drinks out in the open for consumer's to grab and buy. I live close by and have bought gas here for the last two years, but after tonight never again. I stopped by to top off one of my tires, as it'd been leaking a little bit of there. Pursuant to California state law, it is illegal to charge for water and air. I told this to the attendant, but he still refused to turn on the air pump. I am done with this station. It takes at least 10 minutes for the dam thing to fill my Honda cause the pumps are so slow and the most terrible part about this... The whole time you are getting harassed by bums asking for money. They always have some ridiculous story trying to get money from you. So since i felt like i needed good karma/juju in my life i finally gave one of them money. I gave him $2 after his sob story. Once he got the money he turned around and walked off. Typical gas station, but I think the guy that works at night gets lonely sometimes so he likes to go around talking to customers, which I think is a nice impression on the gas station. Something happened with my pump so he popped out his door and told me to just press a certain button and resumed to what he was doing. I had the most horrible experience here. I come here to get gas all the time, but I will not spend another penny here ever again. I came to get some air in my tires, put my four quarters in, and the machine did not work. I went to the guy named DEREJE and he first questioned whether I had paid and said that he would NOT turn on the air unless I'm a gas customer, despite paying for the air as instructed by the machine.
