Right now, cheapest place to get gas. $4.05 a gallon for regular gas. The gas price at this station is fine, but it is not as spacious as the one in Alameda on Park Street. Husband and I were in the neighborhood, so we stopped in to fill up the tank. There was a line of customers waiting to pump gas. I guess it was worth the wait. While my husband was waiting behind a female customer pumping gas, we couldn't believe what she had in her other hand...her cell phone and she was conversing with someone. She must not have known that was putting people around her at risk...smh...tsk, tsk, tsk. He got in the empty aisle and filled the tank...$35 for 8 gallons of gas. However, as we were leaving, two customers were arguing over who was first in line at another aisle to pump gas. Okay, I don't wanna be around that drama, it's East Oakland and I'm not gonna take my chance in hangin' around to see what will happen next. Time to book out of there...pronto! If you live around this station it's become a meeting point for people to fight at all hours of the night, Rob patrons, and peel in and out of the station with no regard to safety, pedestrians, or traffic rules. Prices are good. Annoyance factor varies between mild and extreme, depending on how many cars are waiting to get in. For one thing, you can NEVER get a receipt at the pump; it's always "Clerk has receipt". For another, the pumps are slow like dog. The hoses aren't super long, so it's challenging to pump from the "wrong" side. And they've taken away the separate payment machines, which you could stuff a $20 bill into and avoid the $0.35 debit surcharge. We used to live nearby, so could come at off hours. So, there have been a flurry of gas station closures around the area- there used to be another cheap option over on International at 8th, but they've closed, at the corner of Lakeshore and Mac Aurthur, closed, the Shell just up the street from this ARCO/AMPM- Closed! It's hard enough to get air for your tires around here, but things have gotten really bad. If the air pump at this ARCO goes out, I can be really SOL. Anyway, I can't think of a worse configuration for laying out a gas station, it's right on a busy street near a freeway entrance and a high school, partially on a residential street. You have to line up, sometime out into the street, or back in or pull the hose over your car to get the dang nozzle into your tank. If I have to, I will cut in front of fools who can't figure out how to get a spot in front of another car that is already pumping. I've gotten abruptly cut in front of here, and the guy actually owned up to me when I finally got a pump next to him- his Dad used to own a cab company- (?) so I guess that means he's cool with being a total jerk on the road. years ago, some young female patron at this gas station offered me her car radio for $10. i didn't really have a use for it but she seem desperate for gas money. so she took apart here radio, gave it to me and i gave here $10. there's a story everytime i come here. last time, i saw signs postings "advising/warning" people to pump their own gas. don't let others pump gas for you. i took he hint. i haven't been back. in fact, i seldom buy gas in oaktown at all now. it many be only a few cents more elsewhere. i rather not be on the list of oaktown's lastest crime victims. read more

The folks who work here are all great--super friendly, great service. But the owners apparently are not. Expect strange surcharges. I bought some nachos and ended up paying $1 for the disgusting yellow liquid that spurts out of the weird little cheese machine. Gross greed to go along with gross food. read more

Don't come at night unless youre hella desperate and down to your last drop of gas. I get goosebumps coming here even in the day because it's so dam sketchy. I only come when i'm desperate, like tank down to E desperate. The set up here is stupid. Cars going in the exit, cars going out the entrance, busy street, long lines, faulty card machines, slow service, annoying kids from nearby asking for money or for you to help them buy alky or cigs, small space....you get the gist. I live not too far away from Highland hospital so this station is most convenient I've been coming here forever. Also has the best prices on gas right now. Cash Only after 10pm. My only issue here is the ignorant ass people that come in the exit and steal the pumps that people who came in the Entrance were waiting for. I've flipped off about 3 people for doing that shit. I'm the type of gal who lets my gas dial run to E "empty" almost always. The reason i love going to this location are as follows: newly updated clean surroundings wonderful service from the clerk in the store always open (the gas stations; not the store) oh, one last thing....great prices on gas! i just filled my car up early this morning and it was only $4.06 versus my getting gas in Walnut Creek which is killer!!!! gotta love this gas location :) read more

I really do not like this place. I only go here when I'm desperate for I do not like to utilize ARCO for many reasons; but I was in the low from the day before. Anyway, I put my card in the slot, push the umber associated to the pump in, and no gas comes out. So the wait is long, the credit/debit thing thing doesn't work (and I will be checking to see if I got double charged), and there is a .35 cent debit charge. What the heck? I took it because I had to go to work. But anyway, the enterence sucks, the placement for all those pumps are small and therefore suck, and the extra charge sucks and therefore even when I am again desperate I will not come to this place ever. read more

This Arco AM/PM location is one of the worst in the entire bay area. Their gas pumps don't always function as they should and usually seem to short customers on the quantity that they pay for. Also, lines inside and out can become quite long, as they do not allow for debit or credit card payment directly through the fuel terminals. Their business hours and practices here are horrendous, they close very early (Appx. 6pm) and only allow purchases to be made in cash. I understand that a lot of what they do is warranted by the fact that there is a high school directly across the street and all measures taken are to prevent theft by students, but for the common patron; it is very frustrating to simply purchase fuel or other items. read more

This is my neighborhood gas station and I've never had a problem here nor do I feel unsafe, what is up with these other reviewers. My only gripe is it's ALWAYS crowded and people don't follow the DAMN arrows..sheesh get it together folks. This place is a poo-hole but it has cheap gas. The set up for the lot is funky and causes traffic when it gets busy. Homeless people also wander around asking for spare change when I dont even have a spare job but the stars for this place go to them always having AZ tea.:) read more

I like this arco because they consistently have some of the lowest prices in town. They are open 24hrs. and they also have lotto and food. They have accessible air and windshield cleaning. The only problem is it is very tight, meaning not alot of room. Also there is the problem, I have noticed, of impatient drivers coming in the wrong direction. Don't go here! I went here to save money on gas, carefully calculating my saving to the cent. The gas gage on my pump was broken and my tank OVERFILLED and gas spilled out onto the floor. I was charged for at least a gallon of gas that was wasted as a result of the faulty equipment. When I reported the spill to the attendant on duty, he said he would "check to see if it happened with the next customer" rather than inspecting the faulty mechanism and fixing it. When I asked about the fees I paid for the "extra" gas I had not intended to buy, I was met with a snarky "that's not very much gas on the ground" and "I dont know how much your tank holds." I won't get the extra dollar I had been trying to save back, and that's okay, but PLEASE spend your hard earned money elsewhere, where people have some integrity. read more
