This is my go to gas station when I need a car wash. The cheapest car wash here is eight dollars, which is a pretty good deal these days. Otherwise the gas station is not too hot. I've noticed that there are often one or more pumps that aren't working. The customer service is atrocious. And the people who hang out nearby are a little sketchy. I don't understand the low reviews! I wanted to get my car washed but didn't want to pay the $31 that the Piedmont Ave Chevron quoted me. I'd gladly pay that price if they were handwashing the car but not for an automatic drive through. My mom recommended this location and am very happy I went here! The washes range from $8-$15. I got the $10 wash and it was easy to pay with my debit card. Also, I didn't have to wait long to go through the machine. My car looks much cleaner and I'm glad that I was able to accomplish that goal at a reasonable price. Very convenient location as it's near the entrance to 24E. Would come back for sure! read more

The car wash was a disaster. It somehow failed to clean the back of my car, which is a little disappointing... but the main issue is that it destroyed my license plate! It snapped the frame and bent the actual plate so badly that I'll need to order a replacement. I'm honestly kind of impressed that a car wash could fuck up this badly. There's also a long, thin scratch on the side of the car that I strongly suspect was caused by the car wash, but I'm not 100% sure. read more

At 9:30pm on Friday night the doors to the convenience store was locked while 3 employees drank and at behind the register and ignored me when I knocked. The WORST f*cking car wash to possibly ever exist! Unless you wanna waste your money to have your car end up looking even dirtier than it did before, I advise you to NEVER use the piece of sh*t carwash! I should have paid closer attention to the other reviews, even though many of them are years old. It looks like they've been f*cking up for years now. What a shame! Waited in a long ass line for 30 minutes for this sh*t! The only reason why I even waited was because I got stuck in between two cars and basically had no choice but to continue. $12 is already expensive enough for a car wash, especially when it isn't even a hand wash. The $12 carwash is supposed to come with a "Wheel wash, undercar rinse, tri-color foam bath, clear coat protectant, spot free rinse, and a dry". Did any water touch the bottom of my car? NOPE! Was there any "clear coat protectant" provided? NOPE! Spot free rinse? F*ck no! A car dry? Yep, there sure was... and it left HELLA remnants of dried up f*cking wax all over my damn car! Do you know that there are STILL remnants of this sh*t on my car to this day? It's worse than tree sap. Not even several hand car washes can get this sh*t completely off. What I should have done was gone in there and complained and got my money back. But I was running so f*cking late from waiting here that I just had to leave. 87 was 70 cents more expensive than the least expensive gas stations around - and 40 cents more expensive than other Chevrons in a city or two over - I think because its near the freeway or across from the rental cars they think they can get away with charging more. Fuel is going up. I heard the best thing you can do is go to the least expensive gas stations and not patronize the ones that overcharge even just by a little. I've always been loyal to Chevron but Aarco now accepts credit cards and maybe with a bottle of Lucas fuel treatment in the back trunk handy it will be good enough. This particular Chevron has a mini 7/11 attached and a car wash. I've never utilized the car wash - I can't comment on what that is like. If you really care about your car - do hand wash by yourself only - that is a given... As you walk up there is lots of parking and a well designed wheelchair ramp. Well designed with the exception of how a disabled person seems to not have the most direct path to the front door - they have to walk all the way around and get one of the parking spots that is furthest from the door. Optimal would be to leave the wheelchair ramp where it is and move the front door. Like I said there is a 7/11 type store attached. A big 'hydrazone' and a sign for Otis Spunkmeyer cookies dangles from the ceiling. The coffee they sell advertises 'A journey in every cup.' 12 or more pumps - very large it seemed - has a lot going for it. Rent a Relic is across the street and lots of garbage surrounds the immediate area although the gas station itself looks super clean. read more

Complaint about the Ethiopian/Eritrean employee working grave yard shift on Sunday 11-12-2022. First off, I get to this chevron, it's past midnight, I'm tired, sleepy, and out of gas. Regardless I thought it's would be worth it to drive 20 blocks out of my way to get some gas because I'll regret not having it done on my way to work the next day. So I get to this chevron and the man is not where he is supposed to be. I think, "ok, he must be in the restroom, I can wait". Nope, can't be that, he would've shat all his organs if he was on the toilet for that long. And so he finally makes it out and I walk up to pay for my damn gas and go home, SIKE, no gas for me. Why? Well, how dare I show up to get gas and pay for it with Apple Pay in the year 2022. He refused to let me pay with my phone. Literally was not even hearing me fit a sec he said no and had moved on before I walked away. Chevron should consider a compassionate and capable employee that can function apple pay read more

The attendant was super slow to address the issue and the line of cars kept growing longer, so I was totally stuck. Summer gives me the incentive to wash my car. Summer never came. Thus my car hasn't been washed. If you're like me, your car is so dirty you want to wash your hands after you open the doors or trunk. Your windshield is so cloudy it's officially a hazard to drive. The fiance has been reminding me to wash for the past 3 weeks. He rather I hand wash...but let's be honest here, I'm lazy. Plus...I'm too short to reach the top! This is the nearest drive-thru car wash I know. The lines are sometimes long but it's sooo worth it. A preface: this was my go-to gas station, mainly because of the cleanliness of the restrooms, and I would normally fill up here twice a week and get a car wash once a week for a total of about $90 a week. I had recently had a few communication issues because it seems they are employing friends/family members who have limited English skills...that's fine...but today was a different story entirely. Despite the fact that "California Yes, but credit or debit cards can be used to buy lottery tickets only at Play at the Pump gas stations and via LottoGopher.com (for a fee)." and I had previously paid for my occasional lottery ticket with my debit card at the same time I purchased my car wash today they refused to take my debit card and said that is the way they always do it. That is a blatant lie. I have purchased at least 25 tickets there over the last year and have always done it the same way and was treated horribly rudely...no, "I'm sorry, we changed the policy" or anything similar just basically told I was wrong...but idiot not realizing how frequently I have been coming to their location...and being treated like utter shit. To top it off the cashier took my cash for the ticket and then did not give it to me until I asked two more times. So, to the owner/manager...you just lost an average of $4680 in annual sales from a single customer because your staff treats people poorly, good luck in the future. read more

I asked to use restroom Sunday morning after I purchased a drink and gas. For some reason the door wouldn't open and the clerk behind the counter started yelling that I was trying to "play games" with him about the door not opening? I really didnt understand and he made a scene in front of other customers waiting in line. I was thoroughly confused and tried to apologize about whatever the misunderstanding was, I still don't have a clue. He was still yelling as I walked out the door. The car wash doesn't work right. If you have a smaller car, the brushes don't touch the topside (hood, roof, trunk) of the car. If you complain, they will offer a rewash - and you get to wait another 30 minutes behind 3 cars. No thanks. read more

Although other people use this gas station I like to think of it as "my" gas station. I will let you in on a little tip: If a gas station is owned by Chevron Corp. as opposed to a station that is a franchise, the gas is usually .05 to .10 cents cheaper than at a franchise station. People used to make fun of me for knowing this fact but nowadays my very frugal (NOT cheap, dammit) habits are important (and envied) (or not). Anyhoo, this Chevron usually has cheaper gas than the ghetto gas place in my 'hood but not as cheap as Arco. My car does not like Arco gas nor does my wallet like the fact that Arco charges me for using my debit card. This Chevron has the cleanest gas station bathrooms I have ever seen. It also has a lovely selection of soda, junk food, soda and junk food with some soda and junk food on the side. They are always well stocked on my Starbucks Double Shots and the staff is always friendly. I still love this Chevron even though I had some weird shit go down here once. I'll set the scene: 3:30am and I am on my way to work. I am so low on gas that I don't chance making it to work and getting gas later. . . so I hit the gas station. . . It's deserted except for me, the attendant behind quadruple bullet glass and a lone woman standing near the pumps. I start pumping my gas. . . "good morning" says the woman. "good morning" sez me. "Do you think you could give me a ride to work? BART is not running and I have to be there by 4:30 or I am going to lose my job." "Uh, no, sorry." "I ain't dangerous, I just really need a ride." I feel for the woman and she doesn't look that scary but my mama said NEVER let a stranger in your car and I almost always listen to my mom. .. especially at deserted gas stations at 3:30 in the morning. "I just can't . . .I've got to get to work myself." "PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU!" I felt so bad but it just didn't feel right and I just couldn't do it. "No. . . I can hook you up with a couple of bucks for a taxi though." See, I am not all bad. . . "My job is in Concord, I can't take a fucking taxi to Concord. You HAVE to give me a ride!" "Uh, sorry, no." As I turn to finish up my transaction, I hear my car door open and slam and this crazy bitch is sitting in the passenger seat of my car! I open the driver's side door and say: "Uh, what the hell?" "You're driving me to work." She is twitching a little so I just kind of let it go. I get in the car, go across to the parking lot of Casper's and say howdy to two patrol cars of Oakland's Finest sitting side by side having a little early as hell morning coffee clatch. "Good morning, gentleman. Could you please remove this person from my car?" They look at me like I am crazy. "She is apparently desperate for a ride to work and got in my car without an invitation." Blank stares. "uh, I am being semi-carjacked!" They frown ask me to repeat myself and by then the woman has gotten out of my car, called me every name in the book plus some combos that have never occurred to me and split, cursing and yelling down Telegraph. Cop says: "Semi-carjacked, eh?" ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha - I kill with the men in blue. Oh and they have one of those car washes that I love. . .whenever I get stressed I go, throw some tokens in the machine and partake in a little aqua therapy. read more

This Chevron is right on Telegraph Avenue. You can see it coming up off HIghway 24, too, so if you're little light comes on, you can stop here before going through the Caldecott. It has a good sized convenience store, and 3 islands of pumps, each island with 3 pump clusters each, so good for those busy rush hour times. Price of Gas was more per gallon in all grades than your lower costs places. But then, Chevron needs that to pay for the Tecroline additive, whatever that is, and those commercials with the Claymation characters. read more

This review is solely for the drive-thru car wash and not for the gas/store. We've been here twice to get our car washed and the first time we went, we chose the most expensive and complete option. Once done, I recall asking my husband why it didn't properly dry our car, why our car didn't have that waxy shine from some other similar car washes that offer a "clear coat protectant," and why our windows/windshield looked a bit cloudy.. and he responded that it was fog. I mean, that made sense to me. Well this "fog" lasted days. In fact, it lastes until our next car wash at a different location. The second time we went, we chose the cheapest wash option for $6, which didn't include the "clear coat protectant." I left a review about this Chevron car wash here a few years ago, and mysteriously, the review is gone now. SHAME on me for going back. Seriously, shame on me. The first time I went, the car wash broke my windshield, and no one at Chevron--not even when escalated to the corporate office--took responsibility. They were incredibly dismissive. I ended up paying for the damage myself. Today, I really needed a car wash, as I'm 9 months pregnant, and time is of the essence. I tried to go to another car wash in the neighborhood that I found on my maps app, but it appears to have closed down. So I caved and went back to this Chevron gas station car wash. And guess what? It took off an entire bumper/trim panel on the side and back of my car (totally different car than last time, btw). Not only that, but parts of the car are still totally dirty. My husband is driving back there now to see if he can retrieve the lost part of the car. If you know what's good for you, DO NOT EVER take your car to this car wash. I can't believe this happened twice! ***UPDATE: My husband found the car trim/bumper, which is a relief. The first clerk he talked to at the station wasn't even going to let him go back there to check. Finally, he talked to another guy who let him look. He found the part, as well as a PILE of bits and pieces from other people's cars. So it's not just us. Park and go inside to pay, come back, and sit waiting for a seeming eternity as the cars in front of you slowly take their turns. It would be one thing if your car emerged clean. I went through the car wash this morning with my Toyota Echo. I paid for the deluxe $10 wash, so I was expecting my car to have a nice, long scrub, but after a long wait in line behind 2 other cars, I was surprised to be in and out of the stall very quickly. The rotating brushes hardly touched my car. They stalled in one position for a while, just twirling away and barely brushing the doors. Then they lifted and floated above the rest of the car, I got a few more squirts and the doors opened. I drove out and parked to check, and sure enough, my car was as dirty as when I drove in. I went in to inform the attendant that the car wash had malfunctioned. He told another guy who worked there (who seemed to be a supervisor or manager) that the car wash was, "..doing it again...". The manager dude shook his head and stated that it was fine, no one else had a problem. The manager asked which car was mine and when I pointed it out, he said the problem was that my car was too small. The attendant chimed in agreeing that my car was very tiny, and that must be the problem. They both repeated this several times, vigorously nodding their heads and loudly pointing this out to the man behind me in line, who was getting concerned about how clean his car would be. If this car wash only works on large cars, wouldn't it be prudent to put a sign out, stating this so drivers of compact cars wouldn't come in and pester them for refunds? I was about to make this point when the manager told the attendant to give me another wash. I asked them if it would work this time, even though my car was so darn teeny tiny, and they just shrugged. I'd already invested so much time waiting, I did not imagine that they would give me a refund, and I wasn't in a hurry, so I got back in line and waited again. I was daydreaming when I began to realize that the car ahead of me had been in the stall a really, really long time. I started to be concerned about the driver and I was about to push the "help" button when the attendant came out. I told him the car ahead of me had been in the stall so long that I was worried. He opened the door to the car wash and spoke to the driver. She seemed pretty upset, and I think he asked her if she wanted to redo her wash, but she was yelling at him that she had been stranded in there for 10 minutes. He let her drive away and messed around a bit with the controls, then motioned me in. I made him swear up and down that he wouldn't leave me trapped in there. This time the brushes actually made contact with my teeny tiny car and the process took longer. I was grateful when the doors opened and I got to drive away. Ten bucks and 45 minutes later, and it still would be a stretch to describe my car as clean, but I had a semi-amusing story to tell my husband when I got home. read more

For certain, this isn't the cheapest gas station around. But some days, I don't mind paying a little more at places that give me a little more. Nice perks: - Right across the street from Casper's. mmmmm. Casper's. - the squeegies are in excellent condition and the soapy water seems freshly soaped - Free air. Their sales floor is kept clean and well organized, but the shelves and coolers are not always stocked very well, there tends to be a consistency with the amount of holes in the display and many of their items that are advertised are not available. This place is not all bad, I do like the fact that they are one of the only convenience stores in the area that offers non breakfast items in the food warmer during early morning hours. Also, any place that will offer me any size Icees for 99 cents; is ok in my book. As far as fuel is concerned, this station uses quality petroleum, which is why prices are usually higher than most suppliers. read more

11/7 - If you use the car wash - DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY IN THE MACHINE AT THE CAR WASH!!! This was my mistake, even though it's there and simple. The car wash didn't work... I tried going in to get my money back - and I have to wait for a manager (you'd think there is more than one). I've called back 4 times (I went on Weds night, it is now Monday afternoon)... apparently the manager is on vacation until next week and I can't get my $6 back because it'll mess up their cash register. To put in in pero spect I've, my car was parked under a tree for a week and a half and had a bunch of dust, branches, and bird crap on it. It took off the dust, but I had to get the rest off by hand. Terrible. I used to come here for the gas/carwash combo years ago; using safeway rewards to knock $0.20/gal off made the right-next-to-the-freeway prices less gouge-worthy. Present day: Every time I drive by, the carwash is always closed, and up to half of the already small number of pumps are out of order. Weekday, weekend, morning, evening, same thing. Bad service ever. I was trying to buy cigarettes by window, I gave my work permit to show my age, he puted it to barcorde machine and said "it is invalid card", it could say invalid card (because it is not state id card, it is USA immigration work permit Id card!!!!!!!) so I gave my boyfriend's id with debit card and he said the machine doesn't accept debit card only credit card works (how come the card machine does not accept debit card)I was like OMG okay fine and i paid with $50 cash and he said he doesn't have change for that. Okay whatever, I didn't want to say anything anymore and left. I was trying to understand this situation but not his attitude, if the card machine doesn't work with debit card then he had to have change for big bill!! Or spoke with nice customer service. The car wash damaged my bumper and they are refusing to take responsibility. I'm furious. I had to track them down to get an answer.

I have been here twice for a car wash, and it was a hassle both times. The first time there was a really long line, and both times the machine collecting money was finicky. Stay away. When the wash wouldn't start after I put in the $6, the clerks were jerks and would not do anything helpful or even refund the money. They said I had to come back Monday to talk to the manager! This is only for the car wash, not the store or gas station. I have been here 3 times. And every single time, the machine doesnt work properly. Either I already paid but the door to the machine didnt open, or it opened but it didnt run. Every time I had to go inside and tell them. There was a time, 3 cars in front of me all had problems and they all had to go telll them to fix. A coworker of mine also went here once and had a problem too. If its only once or twice, its ok. This is concerning the lack of followup to a claim regarding the car wash. I was in on Friday and had the $9 wash. Upon entry, there was no crack in my windshield. I completed the wash seemingly with no issue and left. By time I drove to 52nd and was entering the freeway I noticed the crack. I doubled back and spoke with the clerk, other staff members & the manager. I had paid at the entry of the car wash and as is typical, did not receive a receipt there. Normally I would go in and get it. The staff is normally nice and was when I came back. Took me seriously as to the matter, taking pictures although it was hard to capture due to the bright sun light. I was told they would shut down the car wash until a Technician could check it out and that I would receive a call. I came back on Saturday, there was a long line of cars waiting to enter the car wash. I spoke with the same clerk, she passed me on to another lady who said the manager was not in on Saturday, that the Technician said the car wash was fine & that I would receive a call between 8 and 9 am Monday. It is now Wednesday morning. I have not received a call or message. I maintain there was no crack upon entering the car wash, that the crack has not spread since Friday even with the over 370 miles driven since & that I feel that the claim should not be dismissed & that I should not be ignored.
