Standard car wash spot with everything you need to get your car back into that out of the lot shine. Machines work. Water pressure was strong. Soap was more than enough. The folks there were attentive and considerate of sharing spaces when they were done with the wash. This is my go to car wash spot. read more

Drove all the way the solar car was an was inquiring about the monthly plan. Monthly plan doesn't come with vacuuming so I was checking the price when the old man told me to "wash my car or move it" while I was checking the vacuum price. NO one else was in the car wash but me and the old man, but he felt the need to tell me to "wash or move". Glad I didn't pay for membership before he told me that. Very weird and unprofessional energy. Losing One monthly customer at a time. Just go to golds coin instead where your not discriminated against. read more

I'm been coming here for over 25 years to wash my car. I checked in and decided to redeem my car wash. I showed it to the Attendant the older gentleman and he acting like he didn't know anything about it and wouldn't redeem it. Yeah, I think I'll be looking for a new place. Way to loose a long time customer. Update, upon closer review on the redeem is says that you have fill out something to get the tokens sent, but still the staff acts like they don't wanna help anyone. read more

When I was there to wash my car, a very nice and helpful employee Names George received us there. He was very nice and helpful and showed us how to wash the car best and the easiest and was also very nice to my children. We feel completely comfortable and would come back at any time. In the end, my car was very clean for little money. Simply everything top read more

First bay is out of soap. Nothing out of the spray wand and very little out of the brush. No one was around to report the issue.

Great car wash! Strong water, soap and vacuum! On site assistant and peaceful environment!!

I tried the vacuum. I normally go to a Shell station on San Pablo but didn't have cash on me. The vacuum power isn't great but got the job done. Will probably continue going to the one I normally go to. read more

For about $10, I can get my SUV pretty clean -- it's also easier to hose the undercarriage with their high pressure hoses. I've never seen a line or a crowd, there's no wait whenever I've used this car wash. Great place in the neighborhood to clean dirty vehicles (including motorcycle!) read more

My opinion, this place is not good. Not enough soap compared to other places. Will try the other down the street. Attach are a few pics: the spray is supposed to have soap. Looks like water only. The brush barely soap. Looks like James G had the same problem. I should have read his review first because my experience was exactly the same. This place is only $3 which is affordable, but just not my place to wash my car.I need to see SOAP. Seth, if this is fixed in the future(maybe it was a mechanical problem), I would love to support your family owned business. read more

Try your luck, ladies and gents! $3 gives you 4 minutes with the magic cleaning machine! Step right up! Can you soap it up and rinse it down in time? Better drink a Red Bull before you arrive and psych yourself up with loud music. LET'S DO THIS! I've been taking my car here for years. Love it. No-fuss, no-frills self wash for $3. They advertise that if you plug in another token after your four minutes are up, you can get an extra 1:20, but I've found this to be hit-and-miss... and sometimes the token machine will eat your quarters, dispensing nothing. Credit card is the best way to go, but my experience is that about half of them have busted swipers. That leaves dollars, which is fine. Just go in knowing. read more

This place is filthy, the cement is so grimy you track it into your new clean car. They need to put a deep clean on this place - the hoses for the vacuum is disgusting. This place used to be nice but they haven't put a dime into cleaning the machines so it's a no from me from now on. Plus they raised the price on everything so now it's $5 to wash. read more

I frequent Solar Wash over many years and never have I ever experienced an issue until a couple two weeks ago! However the matter was quickly resolved, keeping me as a loyal customer . Thank you Seth Zweben and staff! read more

I have been coming here for years and today was the first day I was ever greeted or checked on by anyone. Paul, showed great customer service. I felt if I needed help with anything he'd come running. Started a small conversation, but didn't hover. Other than that, I fully washed and waxed my car within 7 minutes. The machine is easy to use. I suggest studying the selections before putting your coins in, so you can have a game plan. =) read more

Place is always messy cause people can't clean up after themselves. TAKE CASH CAUSE THE CARD MACHINES OVERCHARGE YOU. Otherwise a convenient place and everything works. read more

I was very happy to find this place on Google Maps last weekend. My buddy needed a serious car wash and vacuuming. We figured out how to do the wash in a matter of seconds. Going clockwise, my buddy sprayed the water, I followed behind with the soapy scrub brush, and my buddy followed with water for the final rinse. This took all of 3 minutes! We had a good time as if filming a low budget 80's movie scene. (De La Soul from the early 90's quietly played in the background.) We moved on to the interior of the car. The vacuum head was clogged. No problem: I alerted the owner and he immediately identified and resolved issue. For our inconvenience, he provided a gratis cleaning naps to tackle the dusty dashboard. Altogether, we washed and vacuumed the car in MINUTES! The owner is friendly and approachable and the self service is very affordable. read more

I have to say that this place has gotten a lot more consistent lately in terms of their equipment actually working, and I really appreciate that. Now, I can only speak for the vacuums as I haven't tried the actual vehicle washing stalls in a while after severe disappointment ensuing every time I tried previously. There used to always be a staff member on site (probably because of the lack of reliable equipment and constant customer complaints) but I don't see anyone near the little tool shed looking fandangle in the corner anymore... Maybe they've decided that if their equipment works, they don't have to have a dedicated staff member on patrol. Ixnay, boo! You still need someone there. Their consistency may just pay off: This year for Father's Day I gave my dad $10 in Solar Car Wash tokens and told his butt to have a grand ol' time on me, something I never would have done with the old shady equipment. Splurge, baby. Splurge. read more

For the first time, when I went to the Solar Car Wash that I use all the time, there was no soap in the machine. I had already put in $7 and was quite annoyed. I called the number listed at the site and was quickly refunded not only the $7 I had paid but also given 6 tokens in addition. Well done! I will continue to do business here. read more

Went there three days ago it was clean in quite the issues are having to give up 3 dollars for a 5min vacuum to not do its job I believe all the vacuum's need improvements it's one thing to have to pay for something that does not work. Compared to a car wash that is busy and probably not as well cleaned but it gets the job done for a dollar less. Hopefully either the price goes down or they get new vacuums thanks. read more

I have been to this place for a few times and its satisfying I am one of those customer who got fed up by paying 30 $40 for carwashes and ended up coming home doing some cleaning and attention to details Oh did I mention that they scratch your car at the end! At this place you need to be able to follow instructions off of the token machine and after all it's a little work out and you do it yourself depends how well do you want to clean your car?! read more

Solar Car Wash - I have to clean up after this guy - Car Wash Near Me - Oakland, California

I brought one car here Tuesday and liked it so much I brought the other one back Wednesday. The place is clean, and Brandon (the staff member I encountered) was super helpful and friendly. For about four bucks, maybe five, you have a clean car in a few minutes. Think about the time it would take at home to do the same thing, gotta mix the soapy water, have a clean rinse bucket, clean up afterwards and - oh yeah - make sure you don't waste any water! This is a no-brainer bargain, more effective in my opinion, And fun. read more

For the second time I've visited solar car wash on MacArthur Boulevard to wash my car. Behold, I don't have any change so what do I do? Oh they take credit cards! Great let me swipe my card and get the three dollar car wash. Twice I've tried this and both times I was charged $10 for a three dollar car wash. Do not use your credit card at this location. This is a dishonest way to do business and needs to stop immediately. Shame on you solar car wash! I've already contacted my bank and disputed the charge. Later LOL read more

When I lived in Berkeley, I frequented that location as it was the best car wash deal in the bay area. I am so glad that they have one in Oakland as well. $3 to start and $1 for every minute. If you are one for a good deal and not too lazy to wash your car by yourself then look no further. This is your stop. They have vacuums as well and you can literally have your car looking spik and span for under $10. read more

This place is great If you want to vacumn your car. However, I feel that every time I wash my car by the time I drive away it ends up more soiled than when I arrived. There must be something in their soap or something that never fully washes off. Or I'm absolutely terrible at the three to four minute car wash. I stopped coming here a long time ago to wash my car. read more

Solar Car Wash has lost a loyal customer. I've patronized this place every week for over a year now, but no more. I've come here three times in the past ten days. Each time, there has been no soap in the high pressure dispenser. It's literally no different than the "rinse" option. I'm paying to WASH my car, not soak it. Today I spoke with one of the employees about this. He was far less than helpful. I've concluded that either the owners are too cheap or the staff are too incompetent to address the issue. I'll be taking my business to the car wash on MacArthur near High Street from now on. read more

I don't know where the Solar part is coming from since this is mostly water and pressure. Not sun and electricity. I think this self service car wash is the most popular car wash on the weekend. Take New Year's Day. This car wash was packed, everyone was washing their cars. The grounds are clean and there is a tenant ensuring that the change machine is working, customers are disposing their trash properly and most important not hogging the car wash area. They have strong suctions vacuums too and not all crusty. Who wants to use a crusty vacuum hose in their nice car. I don't. This car wash closes around dusk so it is best to go in the morning. Cost: Reasonable, about $4.00 to clean your car. read more

I went a year ago. The machine took my tokens, but the pump didn't work. I went today. The machine took my tokens, but there was no soap. I won't go back. read more

Their car wash tokens have a cute little sun that smiles back at you. I do my vaccuuming here and marvel at the care that the other patrons take with their own cars. They have pretty much everything you'd expect from a "wash-it-yourself" place and the staff do a nice job of keeping the place up. read more

This place is around the corner from my house and I used it once to vacuum. It was so strong! I like that it has a timer so I can see how much time I have left since other car washes are like a guessing game, omg, how much do I have left?! I went back a second time to wash and vacuum since it's so much faster than washing at home. The vacuum didn't work. i was really upset since I had to pay another 2 dollars on another machine. I promptly called the service number and left a message. I thought they wouldn't contact me again but they did! They did everything in their power to help remedy the situation and I am very pleased at the way they handled the problem. Very professional and kind. I don't mind problems. It's the way a problem that's handled that matters! read more

First off, most of the place sucks (but not the vacuum); token machine did not give 22 tokens for $20; timers on vacuum and sprayers are 30+ seconds short; it took the full $ to wash my Mini and vacuum it. Won't be back read more

You do a little work and your car gets clean for a fraction of the cost at most other places.

Couldnt not use the free 3$ wash after checking in with yelp because the employee didnt know how to make it work so i can use it

I just want to say that if you are a single lesbian or an unfaithful human who has been in search of a love affair with a masculine of center woman.. this is the place to find her! Whenever I pull up to this place I feel like Lesbiancas unite! I'm like why the hell didn't I get that top secret memo that this is the opening to the Les Cave where we get together to talk about our Subaru's and U-haul experiences?? Fck CL.. wash your car just beyond the Laurel. I dig this place because it's simple, cheap and local. Sometimes I don't want to be stuck inside my car while brushes and odd colored soap scratch and squirt at me. And I also like to make up stories about the people next to me.. like a van covered in blood.. and to get away with the crime they came to the hood to wash the vehicle.. maybe one too many episodes of Snapped. :/ Anywhoo.. go here.. wash your car.. fall inlove.. get ride of the DNA whatever you're into. read more

Tons of vacuum stations.. so you don't have to wait forever to clean out your car.. music freakin rocks and gets you moving and most cars are in and out of the stalls in a pretty decent amount of time.. there's a few more car washes further down MacArthur but this one feels like the cleanest and most efficient read more

Hands down my favorite car wash in oakland. The credit card readers actually work and are really easy to use. Great water pressure, all wash functions operate properly, and the vacuums actually clean your carpets! Brandon is super helpful and is always there to lend a hand when needed. 5 stars! read more
