Because the pumps don't have credit card machines in them, I went inside, gave the attendant my credit card, and asked to have the car at Pump 8 filled up. As usual, I clicked the automatic lock into place and stood by the pump while I waited. Something must have gone wrong with the automatic shutoff, because, about two minutes in, the nozzle suddenly started spurting gas everywhere. And I mean everywhere. I was actually blown out of the way by the force of the liquid. I managed to shelter myself behind the hatchback and bend my arm around the corner of the trunk long enough to shut the nozzle off and knock it out of the car. This whole time, the meter kept running, racking up gas that was spurting everywhere but the tank. Soaked from head to knees in gasoline, I ran back into the attendant booth and told the gentleman inside what had happened. He walked outside, poured a bucket of water on the ground to wash the gas off the concrete, and walked back into the booth without even looking at the pump. Despite my protests that the meter had overcharged me, that something was seriously wrong with the machine, and that I was covered in freaking gasoline, he screamed at me that I was trying to cheat him and ran my credit card without my consent. If I could find a single bit of public information about this business, I'd be considering legal action. That not being the case, Yelp is my only redress for the time being. Stay far, far away from this place.

Gomes Tire saved my butt money and super helpful/courteous. I called inquiring and when I walked in- they asked questions and verified what I was looking for. They were able to get my battery out successfully and change it~ pretty fast- was about an hour while they had other appointments too. Reasonable rates and good communication. Good quality work and people. They also have coffee and water in their waiting room as well as WiFi and an outlet if you need to charge. Highly recommend!

One of the mechanics saw that I had another tire with a bulge in the side. I needed two new tires. The mechanics moved my good front tire to the back, and put my new tires on the front. I was very happy with the price. The mechanics were very quick. I've always been a fan of Big O Tires as they are friendly, but I have also spent hours waiting for a tire fix. I dropped by A Plus Tires but they were able to help me immediately. It took less than half an hour. One of the guys explained to me that although the side of the tire says PSI 51, that because my car is small that I should inflate my tires to 35 PSI. News to me! I also learned that the bulge in my front tire was probably from hitting a pot hole. What?! a pot hole in Oakland?! haha. Everyone was super nice.

The front can be a bit chaotic, but once the tow truck guy determined where to leave my car, I was approached immediately. I asked about same day service, and she replied that they typically can provide same hour service. Nice! They showed me why the tire failed - bad alignment,that wasn't apparent from the outer side of the wheel. They had two tire options, and the "premium" tires (sumitomo) sounded quite reasonable compared to other places (I've bought a lot of tires for my kids cars). And they did the new front tires and alignment very quick! I had a laugh filling out the paperwork, since she told me not to bother with a few things, since they weren't computerized anyway. Wow. Well, whatever works for them!

Solution: come to the Piedmont Service Station. They do repairs here too. They are not the cheapest shop in town, but they do quality work. And they turn around the work pretty quick.
