Paul and Kris did an impressive job of restoring my bathtubs! They are super shiny and clean! They removed the shower door on one of them and hauled it away for me. They would have reinstalled the existing one but they do no install new doors understandably. They were on time and professional. They covered everything up before getting started and cleaned up well when they were finished. The price is right and Paul left me the impression that if anything wasn't to my 100% satisfaction that he'd be back to get it there. I would most definitely refer friends and family to Chestnut Coatings. read more

After noticing a handful of hairline cracks in the tub, we contacted our regular plumber, who subsequently recommended Chestnut Coatings and Paul. I'm so glad he did. Paul reviewed the pictures I sent and immediately put my mind at ease by explaining what was likely happening and how he would approach the situation. Incredibly, he made himself available the following day, arrived right on time, and quickly went to work. Throughout the process he was friendly, considerate of our space, and always professional. And what a job he did! Needless to say, the transformation was remarkable. The pictures don't even do it justice, but it looks fantastic. Paul is a master craftsman, no doubt, but his pricing was also more than fair, and he truly went above and beyond. Consider this a wholehearted endorsement of Chestnut Coatings and Paul. We'll always appreciate you! read more

Chestnut Coatings was a big $$$ saver for our shower remodel! The before and after pictures say it all. Paul is the ultimate professional and really knows what he is doing. Just read his bio on how he got into this business. Painting in a tight space is not for beginners and our shower was exactly that. It literally looks like new and for 1/8th the cost of getting a brand new shower. You won't regret going with Chestnut Coatings. I've had a similar process done on another home and the company just sent out one of their many technicians. With Chestnut Coatings you get the real deal, someone with decades of experience. Cannot say enough great things about the work Paul did on my bathtub! Was hesitant to get my bathtub glazed 'cuz I didn't think it would make THAT much of a difference, but I was oh so wrong. I literally gasped with happiness when I saw the end result - it was as beautiful as it must've looked when my house was built in 1950. Reached out to Paul after seeing his reviews on this site - so glad I did. He returned my initial call immediately, had great, personable customer service, and completed the job in approximately 4 hours as promised. A total pro! read more

Paul was so fast, and did a FANTASTIC job refinishing our 80 year old sink! It was so rough you could file your fingernails on it! He was in and out in 3 hours, and even brought in all sorts of fans to suction out any fumes directing them out the doors. Our sink was shiny, white, and looks brand new. I highly recommend Paul if you have a sink or tub in need of a new surface. read more

Chestnut Coating is the BEST YOU COULD EVER ASK FOR IF CONSIDERING REFINISHING your Bathroom, Kitchen etc.!! Had a crack in our shower pan fixed! Looks great!! Highly recommend Chestnut Coatings!!

Paul came to my house to re-glaze some cast iron sinks that I saved for my garage laundry area, which everyone said I should just take to the dump. He showed up on-time (early) and completed the job in a timely fashion at a good price. He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to... great customer service skills. The end result was exactly what I was hoping for and it makes me really happy that I held on to these sinks. Thanks!! read more

What a disappointment ‼ Reading the positive reviews had me fooled. There were a few that said he flaked out. I should have heeded those warnings. Really needed a tub refinish. He was scheduled to come on a Monday @ 10:00. I took the day off from work without pay. Got a text a little before 10:00 that he couldn't come due to car trouble, and would have to reschedule . I asked how bad it was and if he could come the next day, Tuesday. No response until 10:00 ON Tuesday that he could come thenI I was already at work, so said no. So.... schedule at your own risk!! PS. Paul, things don't always go as planned. Your site touts a 3 hour response time. Had you communicated, texted/phoned a response within 24 hours to reschedule, I would have accepted. Not knowing your plans or if this would happen again, I scheduled someone else. read more

I initially found Paul on Yelp and figured I couldn't go wrong with over 100 reviews with 5 stars, and Yelp didn't lie, Paul is awesome! He showed up right on time, did exactly what he said he would do for exactly what he quoted. He was clean, professional, honest and hard working. He did a shower and a tub for me, shower was a little beat up and I'm telling you, the thing looks brand new. It's a rarity when you have work performed and it actually looks better than what you would've thought it could. Top notch, 5 stars all around. Many thanks Paul, job truly well done! read more

Paul did an amazing job with our soon to be baby bathroom! With a baby on the way, my husband and I decided it was finally time to renovate our second guest bathroom. We re-did our master bathroom when we moved in but due to the high price of contractors and renovations, we held off on the second bathroom. The bathroom tub wasn't in terrible shape but it wasn't great either. We re-did the tile on the floor, put in a new toilet and vanity as well as a fresh coat of paint but the tub left us scratching our heads in terms of whether or not it needed to be replaced or just refinished. The tub was a yellow color, had multiple cracks in the tiling and was overall in poor to moderate shape. We found Paul through Yelp and was immediately very impressed with his quick response time and professional advice. We were debating whether or not to leave the door in or take it out and after finding out we had a baby on the way, he suggested to take it off to make it easier for baby bath time and accessing the tub itself. Brilliant! The whole process was quick and painless. In about half a day, he was able to TRANSFORM our dingy bathtub into a sparkling white beauty! Paul was incredibly detail oriented and was very friendly and efficient. He explained everything he was doing and also shared with us his cool story of how he got into this field. After he finished, there was a bit of water that dripped and caused an uneven surface near the tub drain. We were supposed to keep it dry for a while. Paul immediately offered to come back at no extra charge and fix this for us. Having gone through many contractors for the renovation of our home, I know this is a rare find. Usually once the job is done and you have paid your dues, nobody will come back on their own time and fix something that went wrong. In this case, a small imperfection. Paul was happy to return and I think it really shows that he stands by the quality of his work. If your tub is in need of a facelift, Paul is your guy! Just take a look at all of these pictures, his work truly speaks for itself. read more

Three and a half years after repair and I haven't even needed to recaulk! This after pic is more than 3 years after ... still no bubbling, chipping or degradation that I can see on this cast iron tub that's more than 40 years old in a salt air environment close to the beach. So glad I went with Chestnut instead of a full remodel. Well worth the price to extend the life of this tub for another 10 years! read more

I manage a concession business at a sports center, our counters were outdated and were an unpleasant brown color. I initially got quotes to replace the counters but the cost was unrealistic. I came across this epoxy coating option and requested three different quotes from local contractors that specialize on counter recoating. Two of the three guys were intimidated by the large scale of the project and never got back to me with a quote. One even suggested I just replace the counters. Paul came in and was confident and professional. He gave me a quote which was very reasonable and got to work. The counters came out better than I expected. I highly recommend Chestnut Coating for any residential or commercial coating projects. read more

We hired Paul from Chestnut coatings to refinish our bathtub. He did a beautiful job! He was professional and responsive. He came in on a Friday to do the majority of the work. I am so glad to have found Paul at Chestnut Coatings! Originally I'd contacted another company, they couldn't take on my project but referred me over to Paul -best referral ever!!! They said he was a master of his craft, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Initially I thought my tub needed to be completely refinished, but to my surprise; Paul was able to get it shiny and new without even having to paint it. He removed all the grody old caulking, re-caulked, and installed a new drain, overflow regulator & tub spout. It's so beautiful, I still can't believe it's the same old tub! On top of doing awesome work, Paul was super nice. He arrived on time, was very friendly; and did a great job cleaning everything up after the project was finished. If you need your tub or shower refinished or brought back to life, Paul should be the first person you call! read more

I contacted Paul to assist us with repairing a shower stall that had cracks and chips. My feeble attempt at repair, using fiberglass, was not helpful. Paul informed me that the main problem is that when the shower was installed, the installers did not apply a bed of mortar under the stall. Because of this missing, over time the fiberglass flexed and developed cracks. Paul did an outstanding job of repairing our shower stall. He cut out the damaged areas, laid down a layer of mortar, and installed new material that replaced the removed damaged material. After sanding and final repairs, he then re-glazed the shower stall with a wonderful white colored material. In talking to him he informed me that he likes repairing these type problems. For me he took the extra mile to really do a proper repair that eliminated the initial problem. Thank you Paul for all your help with our situation. I look forward to having Paul help us again with a our other bath tub shower. I enthusiastically recommend Paul for any repairs you might need. He honest, hard working, and takes pride in his work. Thank you again Paul, Dave and Tess read more

On June 4 2020, I phoned The Tub Guy listed on this page. His message says to text him a photo of your project to get a quote. I did exactly that and after no response at all, I followed up with another text a week later asking if he got my text and had any questions. To this day I have never received any response. I hired Paul to not only refinish an old fiberglass tub and sink/counter area, but to also replace some cracked fiberglass at the bottom of the tub. His prices were reasonable and he was really sincere, detailed and straightforward about how the process worked. No upsells or anything like that. He came out on his day off for an estimate. Due to work, I knew I was not going to be available on the day of the refinishing. I gave him my keys and crossed my fingers. Two weeks later, he had the keys, conducted the work with zero drama and put the keys in an area I requested. Completely trustworthy guy. He also patiently waited a few days so that I can visit the unit and approve of the work before any money crossed hands. I was impressed by the work itself. He meticulously covered all of the surrounding walls and fixtures. The floor was clean. He replaced the fiberglass such that I could hop up and down on a spongy part of my tub and it felt solid as a rock. The result ended in a completely clean refinish with perfect lines. He explained over the phone some of the next steps and potential thing I would see that are completely natural. Using Chestnut Coatings, I saved thousands in a tub replacement and a remodel and had peace of mind knowing that this work was completed well by such a trustworthy company. I will definitely use them again. If you have any desire or questions about resurfacing your tub, give Paul a call. You won't regret it. read more
