Pains me to say this, but Chester's just isn't that good anymore. Honestly would have ate Raymond's or heck even LaRosa's. I say this because consistency has left Chester's. I don't think the employees care about what they put out anymore. Last three times I've been it's been the same. Pizza is over cooked, not as much cheese and very chewy. Pizza steak hoagie...same, over cooked and the bun is very chewy. Mr Vitali needs to get the place under control or a long standing Hamilton tradition will fade off into the sunset. Typical pizza that fits in the same category as Pizza Hut, Dominos etc. this is a takeout only joint and has great reviews. Ordered a large pizza with half sausage, reminds me of a Sicilian without the crispy crust cut in squares although it round and not cooked is a pan from what I could see. Very efficient and cooked quickly, friendly service. This issue I see these days is for some reason they think loading tons of cheese makes a better pizza rather it's the crust and sauce that makes a great pizza. It from the area and a pizza snob from Chicago. I yelped thin crust pizza and Chester's came up. It rates well and with a try. I ordered a meat lovers and added onions and olives. The pizza was a version of thin crust but a cross section would show a pillowy crust, not a true thin crust but it wasn't like hand tossed. The bacon on my pie dominated every flavor. What was lost was the onion and olives and not sure what the sausage tasted like. The dough was not crisp but the overall pizza was some of the best I've had for the area. read more

The customer service was great - the pizza was ready within 15 minutes after ordering by phone. I ordered a half sausage, half pepperoni medium pie ($13.75 plus a .65 cent "technology fee"). The pizza was equivalent to what you'd get from Dominos or a similar chain. The dough was thick and puffy; there were 6 small pieces of sausage and not much more pepperoni. The toppings were underneath a layer of commercial pizza cheese, which hid the scant toppings. It was a flavorless doughy pizza. I wish they put a little effort into their product because people really do want to support local restaurants. read more

The first time that I walked into this local Hamilton, legend of a pizza place, I could tell that it was special. I really enjoy the opportunity to grab a cold Mountain Dew and Grippo's chips as I am getting my pizza. The pizza is good. It's a good old-fashioned heavy pie. It gets extra points, purely for the fact that I love the old-school feel, and the people running the registers and making the pies were very nice. Difficult review. Might be the best, crispiest crust I've ever had. Was salty but I chose bacon and black olives so my own fault. Just not a fan of pizza with so much mozzarella. From Buffalo and we know pizza. Went there because it was voted the best in town. This was not good at all. The sauce tasted like it was just tomato paste and tomato sauce mixed together without seasoning except a ton of salt. The dough was tough not tender. Take out only. Rated best pizza in Butler County but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, apparently. Pretty good, I would say but not outstanding by any means. We did a veggie and a 3-topping sausage/green pepper/onion. The veggie was really good. The 3-topping was so-so. IMO it didn't live up to the hype but it was pretty good so I would give it 3 stars. I was blown away by the amount of food I got. I ordered a medium cheese pizza just to try their baseline product. I was met with a large pizza, dipping sauce, and large drink for only $10.99. I felt like I was robbing the place! I hate wasting food but had to throw half away as I was on the road and had no way of finishing it. Cheese and sauce were nice, dough was freshly made. Nice mom and pop joint. I bet the prices were so low due to location and low property tax/or rent. It's in Hamilton which is a little rough. read more

This small family place is out of the way in the remote Hamilton BUT if you truly love good pizza do yourself a favor and make the trip. If you like cookie cutter cheap chain pizza stick to little Caesar's because this place is much different. They use Italian cheese and sauce and has a much different consistency and flavor than processed pizza. Now this place is an old hole in the wall with no dine in. Carry out only. I've been going there 44 years and it has not changed one bit. Most places cut corners and ingredients, but not Chesters. I've moved farther away but travel every few weeks. Are you a fan of Back to the future? Well have I a pizzeria for you. Chester's is a way back machine. The decor hasn't been changed since they relocated in 1977, and that's a good thing! Now onto the pizza, it's delicious! No need to ask for extra cheese as it's loaded! I love cheese and love how they take care of you. I got sausage and mushrooms. I brought this pizza to my brothers, as we are in different parts of the city and wanted to have a little competition of who had the best local pizza. Chester's won without any arguments. My wife and I made our first visit to Chester's today (Tuesday) for lunch, and it lived up to its high rating. Keep in mind that Chester's is carry-out only, but you can eat on the picnic tables in front of the restaurant and under cover, which is what we did. We ordered a Steak Sandwich with mushroom sauce and cheese only for $5.99. (We had then leave off the pickles and onions.) It was very tasty. The steak was your typical formed ground beef steak patty but seemed a bit thicker than most other places. The mushroom sauce and cheese was a bit on the light side, but tasty none the less. The hoagy bun was outstanding with its perfect level of doneness and what I assume was a coating of garlic butter on top. We also ordered a small pizza with my first-time-pizza "reference" ingredients of sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, and bacon. Their Lunch Special gets you a small (8") round one-ingredient pizza and a 12 oz soft drink for $6.99. They then added the cost for the extra three ingredients we ordered. The pizza crust was a cross between a traditional crust and a pan crust. It was raised and crispy on the edge like a pan crust, but traditional thickness in the middle - not a bunch of unnecessary dough like a typical pan pizza. They actually bake it in a round raised edge pan. The crust was quite tasty. There was plenty of cheese holding the toppings in place, which were also plentiful. The bacon was thin and crispy - not the typical hard chunks of ground bacon that seem all too common these days. The sausage was "balls" of ground meat and juicy, but somewhat bland. The pepperoni was thin sliced and juicy since it was cooked UNDER the cheese rather than hard and overcooked from being baked on top of the cheese like some places. The mushrooms were sliced and from a can - but that's the way I like them on my pizzas. There were plenty of mushrooms - just right to me, but too many for my wife. By the way, 8" might sound small, but after splitting the Steak Sandwich, we only had room to eat half the pizza. Oh well, I guess I will have an extra tasty lunch tomorrow. Overall, I thought the pizza was one of the better pizzas in the greater Cincinnati area, as was the steak sandwich. Our bill for all the above plus one extra 20 oz Diet Coke came to $16.38, which I thought was reasonable. They accept Visa and MasterCard - at least they do for carry-out orders. (I don't know about delivery.) It's definitely worth a return visit the next time we are in the Hamilton area. (It's not too far north of Jungle Jim's, which was our next stop.) read more

I had hoped to sit down and eat, but this is a carry out only joint, like Milillo's. I really didn't want to mess with pizza if there were no tables, so I got the steak sandwich special. I'm not sure why it's a special, if it's always $4.99, and it's the size of a $4.99 sandwich, not $7.99. I'm not much for gimmicks and that one wasn't good. The woman who took my order was friendly, and asked me about various items on the sandwich, to which I replied "all of them, please". If it's the first time, I might as well get it the way they intended it, right? They had some serious pizza capacity. I saw 4 Blodgett ovens that would fit 6 16 inch pizzas each, plus they had a conveyor oven. Maybe, the Blodgett ovens aren't even used any longer, but that makes for a lot of capacity. To be blunt, they really need to remodel the interior of the store. It doesn't seem dirty, but it looks as though it could be. It's disorganized and things seem to be placed as to where there was room, unplanned. They have some specials behind the register, but the menu is off to the right, toward the back of the store. It wasn't too long to get the sandwich and I was out the door with the sandwich and a bag of Snyder's of Berlin potato chips. The sandwich itself is much like Richard's "famous" steak sandwich with a chopped steak, onions, pizza sauce, pickles, and cheese and not far off Cassano's chopped steak sandwich but without the yummy mushroom gravy. I wish I was more enthusiastic about it. Maybe, it's a matter of growing up with a certain taste but it's more sufficient than exciting. read more
